Writing Bakes: One Draft at a Time

I just clicked onto Blogger and my videos are back. Dunno what that was about, but I'm glad it's fixed.

Stacy asked me what kind of weird with the muffins. Here's the basic run down of what needs fixed in the next draft.
  • Science: Extra liquid in the batter made the muffins too heavy.
  • Taste: Not enough orange. And the year-old frozen cranberries were bland.
  • Texture: Airy and moist but also heavy.
  • Appearance: The muffins turned green.
Since getting sick, my food writing has gotten far more focused than before. The list of foods I can eat are small and the list of cannot, very, very long.

I don't mind because having to write this way has brought a focus to my work as well as a direction for me to go. And, it keeps me sane. I like figuring these things out. Bad drafts don't bother me, that's just part of writing. Besides, there's always something to learn.

Always.

In other news, it's a drizzly rain here. I have jeans and two shirts on and I'm still cold. Burrrrr. Too bad I don't have any bakes lined up for today. Instead, I'm off to Aldi to see what they have on offer. Ever since the new manager, the produce has been good and each Wednesday, we get new deals.

Hot dog.

    1. You totally were my muse today. 100%. Thanks bunches for that. Because to me, I'm thinking weird but you were right, I didn't explain what that meant.

I dunno the green? So odd? Didn't happen with any of the other muffins from this week. Just the cranberry orange.

Off to Aldi to see what goodies they have. Thanks again for being my muse.

  8. I've only made savoury muffins once (last week) and while they were very good with soup, two was too many. Is this the way of muffins?
Your new header is terrific, a great illustration of happy baking. Love your colourful pots and pans and your large cheerful green fridgefreezer.

    1. Thanks for the nice words about the banner. It was fun too draw that one.

There are many ways to make a muffin and/or cupcake. It depends on what you put inside, as to how dense or light they are.

  9. Green muffins, not appetizing at all, but then again we all love green icing. Go figure.

  10. I love orange and cranberry muffins, and orange and lemon, too! :) It is cold for you now? Here in Montreal it is comfortable and not humid, and cools off at night (for now, anyway), which I absolutely love, as I can go out and about and take my walks without sweating, etc.

    1. It's been a cold summer overall, here. Leaves changing, some already done changing. More on the way to change. Halloween decor out. Just love it.

Nice that you can go for your walks. Love this time of year. So great.

  11. So did you score anything cool at Aldi's. And green muffins? Now that's interesting results. What the heck's going on at your secret lab, Wonder Woman? Working on something sinister, are you? Next thing you know we're going to be hearing about you creating some Frankenstein-type creature :)

    1. I redid the batter without the cranberry and no green. With the cranberry green. Odd, that.

Nothing good at Aldi. Had to head into town but the local peaches had no smell.

      No smell. No buy.

      How goes you today?
