Saturday Bake

Tim's writing, I'm baking, got some chores done.  Heaven.  And looky what I just pulled from the oven.

Num, num, num.

PS: It's scary movie night too.  Can this day get any better?  Oh wait, I also baked a test batch of peanut butter chocolate cookies.  Hot dog! I love weekends.

Friday Question: Duck, Duck, Lamb

Have you ever had lamb or duck?  I've had neither but would like to give both a try.  How about using cinnamon with meats?  Both Martha and Linda use cinnamon on their meats.  And now I want to give it a go.  Once I accidentally added cinnamon to my lentil soup and it was yummy.

How about you? Meat with cinnamon? Do you eat lamb? How about duck? I hear duck fat is to die for.

For the Vegheads, what's your favorite vegan meat-like product?  I loved the hot dogs.  True.  In fact, I used to eat them cold from the fridge.  Also true.

I Have a Case of the Food Moodies

Nothing sounds good for lunch.  Does that ever happen to you?  I'm home working on stuff and when I'm busy like this, sometimes food doesn't sound good.  But I'm hungry.  Still, eehhh, nothing's floatin' my boat.

Though I did have some yummy toast this morning. Took a shot from the tablet to show a friend.  Was good.  Apricots, prunes and raisins, oh my.  Very nice combo, so I could eat that again but ugh ... I've got the food moodies.

Tim called though and he's bringing home pizza and pumpkins.  I'm excited because the house will be cleaned for the weekend, and we get to enjoy a quiet evening.

With PUMPKINS!!!!!!!

I Love Baking with Chia Seeds

It's morning and that means, time to grab the scale, start with 70g of flour and see where it goes.  I'm thinking another lemon and chai seed test batch.

Love that combo.  So good together.

If you've never worked with chia seed and want to give it a go, click Bob's Red Mills for a coupon.  For my Canadian girls, I don't see anywhere on here that you can't use the coupon, but I still don't know for sure.

Here's a picture of organic chia seeds, taken with DSLR.   And that folks, is a wrap.  Time for me to get to work and get done.  I'm fixin' to be finish by noon.

Have a spooky day.

Fall Down Dead

The cinnamon raisin hard rolls that I made this morning were KILLER.  I'm fall down dead, that's how good they tasted.  I can't wait to be hungry again so I can have another.

Inside the strands are cinnamon, sugar and raisins, then shaped and baked hard roll style.  This was a KILLER hard roll.  I ate my first one with butter and a cuppa something warm.  For the next one I might try cream cheese.

Meantime, I'm done with work.  Yeppers.  I started rolling at four and I wanted to be done by none and I am.

Hot dog.

Another Brownie Bites the Dust

Made another batch of brownies yesterday using a recipe I found in a brownie book.   I thought they'd be good because they called for almond meal and I use that in many of my own formulas.  Only they weren't good.  And after eating them I got a horrible headache.

I didn't like the headache, but what I did like is the technique of folding whipped egg whites into the brownie batter.  I've used egg whites for other applications but never brownies.  I'll happily use that trick again.  But for right now, I'm brownied out, as I'm not a big brownie eating fan.

In other news, today I'm fixing to use an idea I have to make Halloween Mummy Dog Biscuits.  If it works I'll post it.

And that my Boogerbutts, wraps up today's post.   Thanks for reading and remember to always have a spooky day.

PS: Tim bought me this funny little mummy.  So cute.

Scary Movie Quiz

To win a petrified frog, six leftover ears and two jars of mayo, name this scary movie.  Bonus points and extra eyeballs, if you know who the man with the mustache is.

Friday Question: Brownies

What's the best brownie you ever ate?  For me, it's my vegan brownie that I made back in the day.  I can't find the formula I wrote and I only partly remember how I made them, but they were GOOOOOD.  They had walnuts and a top layer of chocolate that worked well with the brownie bit.

Yummy.

What's the best brownie you ever ate?

A Good Kick in the Nards

I'm happy to report that I'm no longer afraid to do food videos.  There's far too much work to be done with writing and producing than there is room for fear.

So I gave the big fat ugly Fear Monster a good kick in the nards, and sent him packing.

I could not be happier.

Muhahaha ...

Last Friday the goal was to get all my food writing in one area.  Hot dog, I did it.  What you see there is my brain.  Everything I've hand-written.  Now ... (rubs hands together) it's time to make them publish-ready.

Muhahaha ...

Halloween Photo Shoot

What's the hardest part about doing a Halloween Oreo Cookie photo shoot?  If you guessed trying not to eat them during the actual shooting, then you win two dead turtles, a rotten banana and a couple of dehydrated spiders.

Enjoy your treats and remember, no matter what my husband says, I didn't eat the entire bag of cookies.  Okay, I ate mostly all of them, but not ALL of them.

Friday Q: Bread, Bagels & Rolls (oh my)

Running a tad late today but that's okay, this office looks amazing (aside from one table).  Now, I'm about to toss together some dough.  It's between jalapeno cheese bread, onion bread, cinnamon bread or pepperoni bread.

Did the pepperoni bread this week, so that's out.  But I did just buy killer fresh jalapenos.  Though cinnamon bread would be good for morning.  But as I sit here, jalapeno cheese bread sounds the best.  I'm going to juice the pepper and use the liquid in the dough, to test what kind of kick it produces.

Which brings me to my Friday Question.

If you could eat any bread, bagel, or roll fresh from the oven.  Any bread-like item, for your next meal, what would it be?

Now We're Cooking with Gas

My writing desk is cleared and so is the coupon station.  However, don't look in the movie room because there you'll find a marathon of The Nanny, a folding table, and every single ding dong formula, I've ever written.

Meanwhile, a good bit of physical energy has come back, thanks to rest, couponing and this yummy nummy veg and bean soup with tomato base and a kick of cayenne.

Time for me to head back to the Lemon Tart Room.  My goal: Have all formula sheets in order by the close of tomorrow.  After that, it's one more table to tackle and our double office will be done, done, done.

Done.

PS:  It's 4:14.  I love that.  Not as much as 4:04 but I had to crop the food shot, so 4:14 it is.  Cheers and boogie boogie.

Cupcakes & Coupons

This is what my coupon station looks like.  I'm home today clipping, sorting and prepping for my next trip.  The available ingredient and whole food coupons are getting less and less.  The emphasis being on industrial ding ding meals.

Which bugs me.  But I'm in it for the win, so I'll just have to work smarter at the savings game.  Meanwhile, I'm enjoying a homemade pumpkin spiced latte, Cupcake Wars, and clipping coupons.

For tonight's supper, marylands baked with whole cloves of local organic garlic (beyond killer good), and a side of wholemeal pasta with basil, garlic and fresh Parmesan.

Simple and delish.

Dessert, a small sampling of salted caramel popcorn.  Made too much last night and woke with a sugar hangover.

That's about all from me.  What's for supper on your end?

Ding Dong, What a Monday!

Got my writing done by noon today.  I love that.  Then I was torn between chores and a trip to Tractor Supply (best store, ever).   So I took out the camera and recorded my face in video with voice, instead.  Holy crap, that was scary.

Now I'm off to Tractor Supply.  Hope your Monday rocks!

PS:  Pizza rolls for Tim's lunch tomorrow.  When I put them together later, I'm going to practice record it.

PPS:  But I'm not gonna show you.

PPPS:  Not yet.

Are You Zombie-Ready?

I'm out back sitting at our cafe table.  Three military choppers just flew overhead, which is not normal.  Right away, I think zombie outbreak.  And I thought what would we do if zombies came from the woods and climbed up our back deck?

The girls would try and help but they'd probably get eaten or turned into zombie pups.  It's not like we have a flame thrower, and if we did would it even work?  I have a few good knives but they're not strong enough to remove a head. Maybe an ear or poke out an eyeball, but that's about it.

Nopers.  We are NOT zombie-ready.

Night Vision & Pile of Poo

Guess where I'm writing this post from?  Outside.  It's Friday night here, and the peepers are going nutso.  Both pups are chillin' with me outside.  If I can get the night vision camera to work I'll show you what it looks like.

Meanwhile, Saturday morning Tim and I have plans to get the last of the extra table empty of crap.  When we got our new coupon station/zine workbench, all the stuff that I didn't know what to do with, went on a folding table.

Now it's one big pile of poo.  Must get sorted and put our double office back to tip top shape.

Before I go to bed tonight I'll make a batch of bagel dough to stick in the fridge.  In the morning I'll shape and bake for breakfast.  For lunch, chicken and waffle sticks.

Oh yeah, life is good.

Now I'm gonna go see if I can get this night vision camera to work.  You all have a killer Saturday and boogie boogie.

PS: I'm back but without night vision photos.

PPS: Please enjoy a homemade bagel, instead.

Friday Question: Chicken & Waffles

Who likes chicken and waffles?  We love 'em.  The crispy chicken served on a fresh waffle. Real maple syrup.  Absolute treat.

Yum, yum, yum.

How about you?  Have you tried chicken and waffles?  If so, what did you think?  If not, would you give it a go?

PS: The answer to last week's Friday Question was, organic black chia seeds.  I took the picture with my camera and loved how it looked.  Thanks to everyone for playing.

Cheers and boogie boogie.

I Shot My First Food Video

Yesterday I shot my first food video, all by myself.  Then when I was done, do you know what I did?  If you guessed shot another one, then you get an A on your paper and a star on your forehead.  Maybe even a slice of apple pie.

I'm a long way from publishing videos, but I'm closer than I was and I'm pretty rootin' tootin' happy about that.  Before I was scared to record my voice, now I don't care.  The fun outweighs the fear.

As for doing videos that include my face, I am not ready.  But I'll get there no doubt.  Fear or not, I'm moving forward.

Baker's Report: Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2

I'm up early, in my prep clothes and by the time Tim wakes, the house will smell of apples and cinnamon.  Which is good because yesterday, I didn't do a ding dong thing.

Nope nope.  Instead I stayed in my jams and played with my new Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, with Logitech bluetooth keyboard and case.   This is what Tim got me for Halloween, along with a Halloween Snoopy and Woodstock mug.

None of which I have pictures to show you yet.  But dig this, when I write a formula, I can talk into the Galaxy and it will type it for me.  Or use my S pen for hand-written notes and with one click, convert them to text.

Or, if I'm reading articles about food, but I only want to save one paragraph, all I have to do is circle it with my S pen and save just that bit, for later.

But that's not all.  I can also use the device to snap quick photos of the steps, and insert them into the notes.

Or, or, or ... I can watch my favorite cookery shows and play along at my kitchen table, because the Logitech keyboard turns the tablet into a laptop.

Best Halloween gift, ever.

Halloween Gifts Came Early

Here's how I feel about the Halloween gifts that Tim got me over the weekend.  More about them later.  Right now, I'm still doing a boogie, and then I'm making him an apple pie.

Life is good.
