Now onto today's post. APPLES !!!! Here in Northwestern PA, we're getting fresh local apples and that means my apron's on and the oven is ready. Bake, bake, bake, bake.
Here are our finds. I forgot to show the honkin' huge local raw honey, jar. It's almost as big as Bug, and just about as heavy.

Early means they're not quite ripe?
ReplyDeleteGive me a box of Hot Tamales and I'll race Tim.
These are ripe, ready and DELISH !!!!
DeleteI'll let Tim know about the race :-)
You've really got a handle on that video thing now. Love fresh apples, but hate applesauce! Don't know why? Odd isn't it. :)
ReplyDeleteEven homemade applesauce? How 'bout apple crumbles?
DeleteWe used to grow translucents when I was a kiddo growing up outside of Philly (lo those many years ago.) Now in Central Pa, I can't wait for the jonagolds to be ripe!!
ReplyDeleteLove the video. Seeing those apples stacked like that really took me back. Gotta go check out the rest of your vids. :)
I checked the chart, for us here, not Until October at Apple castle for the jonagolds. So many fun options though.
DeleteGlad it took you back. That is super cool.
love to learn about all your food finds!
ReplyDeletethanks bunches.
DeleteI love your videos. And you have such a great voice as a narrator. And apples...so many great things you can do with this. Baked apples is definitely one of my favourites!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your ongoing support. Hope you get great sleep tonight.
DeleteI recommend pie!
ReplyDeletePies are coming for sure. Many, many pies, tarts, crumbles and bumbles.
DeleteJust yesterday my husband came home with a big bucket of apples from some trees in our neighbourhood. Nobody seems to want to pick them these days.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't want to pick them? That madness, I say. Madness.
Deletemy fav is the honey crisp
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely.
DeleteThe best apple sauce, eva! :)
ReplyDeleteGary
For sure.
DeleteI enjoyed your apple video:) I like tart apples. Those sound good. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHow goes you, Sandra?
DeleteI reckon your video's are great.
ReplyDeleteI always love apple sauce with Roast Pork.
Have a good week - it's fast dis-appearing already!
All the best Jan
One more day and Hubby goes into a four-day mini staycation. Tim enjoys pork and apples, as well.
DeleteI love apples any way they are cooked...and love 'em raw..
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteOoh, you've reminded me that our local apple orchard will be opening soon and I finally get my Macs! I adore Macintosh apples.
ReplyDeleteDo you bake with them? Eat them raw? Both?
DeleteI am not a big fan of apples either, but unlike Yolanda, I do like apple sauce, especially with pork. I can't stand cider which is a big thing in the UK.
ReplyDeleteHot or cold apple cider is a big thing where I live. They fresh press it at the local fairs. So yummy.
DeleteBut I don't know if that's the same as the cider you mean or not?
Glad you got your appointment for early September. Sorry about the roads. They do that here too, nutso.
Apples are one of my favorite things , dear Lady "Whisk"....
ReplyDeletewe wanted to thank you for the many pleasant comments you left at my "Crypt".... Thank you...
and a great day to you and yours...
How are you feeling today?
DeleteWe feel much better, dear Lady "Whisk"....
Delete... on a note ,... Apples are one of the only natural sources of Cyanide ( contained in its seeds)
Thank you, yes, I know. I speak about it in an upcoming video on making dig food, using apples. Must take care not to give the dogs, apple cores, among a few other dangerous foods. But much thanks for the note. Very important to know what we are eating.
