Today's Menu: Meat Paste

I love these treats because they taste good, are crunchy and made with leftover chicken bits.

Boil the raw chicken.  Strain.  Cool.  Blitz in processor until it looks like meat paste.  Dump in a bowl, add flour and dog-friendly herbs.  No weighing, just eyeball and feel when texture is ready to roll.  Then cut into shapes and bake.

Note: Sometimes I add a little of the cooking water.

Also Note: Adding too much flour, lowers the meat taste.

I'm still working out the times and temps.  Next batch I'll try baking the pretty side down, then flip half-way through, because that might yield a more even bake.  We'll see.

And that's a wrap.  Meat paste.  Easy.  Fun.  Tasty.  How can it be wrong?  Now, I'm headed to the shower and then to market.  The goal: FREE crapper paper.

Movin' & Groovin'

This was the first week in many that didn't start with a trip to the chiropractors, followed by rest.

And you know what?

I love the freedom of a pain-free start.  I'm happy with my progress, both spinal and household.  By this time next week, I should be painting the movie room.

Love it.

Here's something I didn't love.  Today I had to toss veggie stock due to salmonella poisoning from organic black pepper.

But let's end on a high note.  See these?  FREE at CVS.

Friday Question: What's for Lunch?

Today, I'm still sorting and tossing paper work.  I'm up to eight well-packed big bags of shreds. Whew.  Feels good.

Anyway, I just stopped for lunch.  Leftover mash and sausage, ginger peach tea, and grapes for dessert.  Not sure about supper yet.

What's on your plate?

Perfect Little Day

Poopyhead came home for lunch and surprised me with the rest of the afternoon off.  So we ate leftovers, Tim cleaned the kitchen and I cleaned the crapper, and shredded more.

Now, we're off to Barnes.

But first, dig these waffle sticks.  Made with organic spelt and mini-chocolate chips.  They might not look pretty, but they sure eat good.  This formula goes in the book.

And now, we're headed to Barnes.  Cookery magazines for me, writing for Tim, and shared drink for both.

Perfect little day.

Boobs, Bras & Shredders

On Tuesday I ditched the idea of getting back to my food writing (for this week), and decided to keep focus on the house.  And boy, am I glad that I did because as I write this, there are four bags of shredded documents, writing and bills, just waiting to head out the door.

More on that another time.  Right now I've just gotta get my post in because yesterday was day 114 in a row and I'd like to keep going a bit longer.

That said, it's time to get my boobs in bra, put some pants on and hit the tractor store.  I don't know if you have tractor stores where you live but here, even the chicks love this store.  So much fun.

Catch you later and boogie boogie.

PS: Sorry about the misleading title.  No boobs here, but if you click back a few posts you can see a big pecker.

FRESH FROM THE OVEN

Here's my organic spelt flour chocolate chip cookies using coconut oil and no eggs.  The specks are from the spelt.

This is my second batch of the day, and third batch overall.  Each time I do something a little different.  For this batch I flattened the dough and used a semi-sweet chocolate.  But really, any dairy-free vegan chocolate would work, too.

So much fun.

PS: I didn't get any dog bakes done.  Just these Tim treats.

2 Weeks Behind? Yeppers, That's Me

No kitchen floor for me yesterday.  And today, all that good sunshine is gone.  So change of plans and I'll work on something else.  The good news is, this week I'm getting back to writing the doggy treat book.  Though I don't have a name for it yet, I am excited to get back to work.

Dig me, I am TWO WEEKS behind.  Which really, isn't the end of the world but I feel like I need to get back to the work, writing, testing and and all that good stuff.

So that's where I'm at today.  What's on your plate?

PS: I made these for the girls awhile back.  Oats and peanut butter really work well in a dog treat and dig that design.  It's a cavity pan I got on sale and with a coupon.

PPS: The image expands.

Rootin' Tootin'

I'm back from the chiropractor and feeling rootin' tootin' good.  In case you're not sure, rootin' tootin' is a few levels higher than good, and just at the borderline of obnoxious.

Even though my energy levels are excellent and I don't hurt, I'm still supposed to rest.  Only what I really want to do is take advantage of the bright sunlight, and clean my kitchen floor.  Probably give Ethel a good scrub and prep supper.

Meanwhile, over the weekend I was strong enough to make dough, and this week the goal is to get back to writing those puppy bakes, as I am TWO WEEKS behind.

That about wraps it up for me.  And in case you missed it, Tim gave me a pecker at Barnes and Snoopy ate his best friend.  Now I have to go rest, but as soon as I'm done with that, I'm scrubbing my kitchen floor clean.

Cannot wait.

Now with More Pecker

So my husband who thinks he's funny, printed me a new batch of bake sheets.  Imagine my surprise when I opened my bake book in the brightly lit and crowded Barnes Cafe.

Pecker.

Friday Question & GIVEAWAY

Howdy Hello & Happy Friday.  My question today is how long have you been blogging? My blog turned 4 this past October.  Tim's blog just turned 5 today.

Do you see yourself blogging five years from now?

I see myself blogging for the next year or two.  Beyond that, I cannot say for sure.  I'd like to start writing food videos.  I think that would be fun but I'm also a big chicken.

So ... my Boogerbutts.  How long have you been blogging and how long do you see yourself continuing to blog?

Also, Happy Blogger Birthday to Poopyhead.  Click Tim's Giveaway to enter and don't worry, he really likes being called Poopyhead.  You can even call him that on his blog and still win.  Cheers and boogie boogie.

Goodbye Ass Dialing - Hello Wilma

Yesterday Tim paid off Wilma.  Our zero interest loan is now closed and we own the washer outright.  So happy.

I love this machine.

Meanwhile, after shopping around for a new no-contract phone (we had Straight Talk), we settled on Net10 for 25 smackers a month, no hidden fees, no contract, no bullshit.

Which is what we like.  I can't ever see going back to contract phones after being free of them.  No way.

There's a few plans to choose from, including a $20/30 day unlimited carry over.  Tim's job gives him a $20 monthly allowance on mobiles, which would leave us owing only $1.20 in tax for 30 days.  That's pretty good.  Just have to see how many minutes we really do use, since we share the phone.

Either way, it's goodbye ass dialing piece of crap phone and hello Wilma, the best washer in the entire trailer park.

It's gonna be a good day.

Fire & Ice

Today I'm sore and achy.  Think it might be the snow and ice cold air, aggravating my spine.  The plan was to go couponing but for right now, I'll wait it out and see if it gets warmer.

If not, I'll stay by the fireplace in the movie room.  Here's the picture from the couch.   If my blog had sound, you'd hear the popping fire and crackles as the wood burns.

Tim teases me but I tell ya, I love to make tea, curl under a blanket and read by fake firelight.  Meanwhile, I just looked outside and the flakes are bigger now.  I forget if that means more or less snow.  Either way, it's cold.  Burrr.

How bout you?

Got snow today?  Ice?  Rain?  Cold?  Or sunshine?

14 April 2014

I Can't Think of a Post Title (again)

Our weekend was non-stop working on the house.  Gotta say, I'm loving the new movie room and the new office is huge.  For the first time in 11 years together, we now have all our writing/publishing/zine/gaming/coupon stuff in one space.

We still have more work to do, but the bulk of the job is done, and these rooms are up and running.   So cool.

Also cool, my spine is doing better.  Still have to rest today but that's okay because the girls at the chiropractor's office gave me a new stack of coupons, and soon I'm going to eat chocolate chip waffle sticks - in the movie room.

Thanks to Elsie for giving me the idea.  I tell ya, I make chocolate chip pancakes all the time but it never dawned on my to add chocolate to waffles.   Never even thought of it, until she mentioned it in Friday's Question.

So thanks Elsie, because I am diggin' the combo.

Only I don't have a picture because the waffle stick iron is preheating as I type.  Meanwhile, you Boogerbutts have a safe and healthy fourteenth day of the fourth month.

PS: I am also down to a 4 in severity of the spine, which is very good.  When the doctor told me I was a four today.  I said, "You know, I feel like a four today."

Feels good.

These don't taste as good as waffles.

Please Help! Ants Every Flippin' Where

We have a nasty bunch of big fat juicy black ants, every flippin' funkin' where.  I kill them, and turn around and nine more appear.  We get them each spring but this spring, they're bigger, and far more aggressive.

Does anyone else have this problem and if so, have you found a safe way of getting rid of them?  Safe as in areas by food and dogs.

Happy Sunday.  Thanks and boogie boogie.

Saturday at The Manor

It's a beautiful sunny day here at the Manor and we are in flip-flop mode.  We're moving Tim's office to the living room and by time we're done, we'll also have a cozy little movie room.

So excited.

That's about all here.  Just eating a wee bit of ice cream, then back to a flippin' floppin' good time.   Well, not really, it's a lot to move to rooms like these BUT, come Monday, we'll be all set.

What's on your to-do list today? Anything fun?

Friday Question: Waffles and/or Pancakes?

There's two plates in front of you.  One with homemade waffles.  The other with homemade pancakes.

What do you do?

I'm Outta Jigs - But at Least I Don't Hurt

I am dragging my butt today and I wish that I wasn't.  So my big plans are to watch I Love Lucy on DVD, clip coupons and keep sorting through paperwork.  The more stuff I ditch and shred, the closer we get to flip floppin' these rooms about.

Meanwhile, my spine doesn't hurt today.  If I weren't so tired, I'd be dancing a jig.  But since I'm out of jigs, please enjoy the guest post I did on Tim's blog yesterday.

Only bummer, the printer turned out to be crap and Espon is sending us another, along with ink.  So right now I have two printers in my living room, along with a box of damaged wedding anniversary gifts from Amazon (also going back).

But on the bright side, the bills are paid, the dishes are done, and I don't hurt today.  Silver lining?  You betcha.

PS: This episode makes me happy.  I love when Lucy says,

We're Flip Floppin' the House

I'm excited because we're moving the office into the living room and the living room into the office.  But first, I've got paperwork piles to sort, shred, ditch or save.

Once we finish all this ticky tacky stuff then we'll be able to flip flop the house, which gives Tim more room to work on his publishing stuff, and a nice little movie room for us.

Anyway, that's it from me. You Buttfaces, have a fun day.

PS: Thanks again to Martha for the great clown image from yesterday's post.  If you haven't already, please check out her blog, she's funny and is also married to a greatest guy in the world.  We're two rootin' tootin' lucky chicks.

PPS: Also, if you have leftover carrot and celery juicing pulp, it goes great into a hollowed bones, then frozen and enjoyed later.  Takes the girls awhile to eat them, and there's no waste, or extra cost for treats.  It's a win, win.

PPPS: Now I'm really going ....

Tim Turned into an Etsy Girl

Even though I wish we had one more day to celebrate our wedding anniversary weekend, I'm still excited to get crackin' on this brand new week.  As of this writing, I am only 7 dog treats away from reaching 20.

WooFlippin'Hoo.

Meanwhile, check out these Wonder Woman pens, Tim got me.  They arrived on the 4th, perfect timing.

But before that, we were headed out to see Captain America's early 5 dollar show, when our wiper motor crapped out.  168 smackers later, we had a new motor but missed the movie.  With the rain, followed by snow, we couldn't head out so we snuggled in for the day.  For supper I made a killer sage and butter gravy with chicken and mash.

Saturday and Sunday we hit Barnes.  And somewhere during the weekend Tim turned into an Etsy Girl and built his store GM Games, and set up his YouTube channel.  We also put into motion, a plan to rearrange the entire trailer to better suit our writing/video goals.

Very excited.

All in all, a very good wedding anniversary weekend.   How went yours?  Got any goals you want to share with us?

Today I Made Organic Beet Root Powder

Right after I juiced the organic beet roots, I took the pulp, put it in the oven on the lowest setting and baked it.  I was curious what would happen and boy am I glad that I did.

It tastes so good.  Just like beet root slices that have been fried, but without the heavy oil and salt.  So flippin' good.  I'm excited to bake with this.  I can use a powder in a bake without messing up the liquid weight.  So fun.

Or I can use it as coating for something.  More fun.

Although, I keep eating it so I don't know how much powder I'll have left.  Actually, it's not powder just yet.  But it will be once I run it through a machine or smash it with a rock.

Look What I Didn't Pay Anything For

I paid zero OOP for all this stuff.  The razors are cheaply made but I love them.  And the body wash is the kind that Tim digs.   But guess what's better than using overages, sales, and coupons to snag FREEBIES?

If you guessed being strong enough to go shopping again, then you get an A on your paper and star on your forehead.

Hot dog, I'm back.  Rah.

So Flippin' Good

Bug stole my spot.  Here's my breakfast.  Won't be around much this week.  Still resting, but able to walk better.  Getting in some kitchen and coupon time.  Rest the rest.   Good luck to all you AZ Heads.  That wraps it up for me.

PS: Tomorrow will be 94 days posting in a row.  10 to go.

PPS: For supper last night, I lightly boiled frozen shrimp (which can be gross), in my homemade spicy veg stock.

So flippin' good.

PPPS: Now I'm really going ...
