Homemade baking powder. If my experiment works, I'll post the formula.
It's weird to me, this corn allergy. So far it's the worst rash/reaction and I haven't been able to reintroduce corn into my diet. But on the upside, homemade baking powder.
Because I am THAT cool.
I didn't know it was made from corn. Bummer, I'm sure there are a lot of things made from corn.
ReplyDeleteYeppers. Though they're might be some on the market free of corn, I'd still rather make my own.
DeleteHonestly, I think I would have a way harder time giving up corn than wheat. That is super rough!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on starting your new foodie blog. I dropped a few comments and will be back to see how you're doing.
DeleteHave a yummy day.
Hope your chores went well.
ReplyDeleteYour own baking powder! Sounds intriguing!
All the best Jan
They did and I'm happy to report that I didn't break into the bake, before Frankenberry got home.
DeleteBut it wasn't easy.
How goes you today? What's for breakfast or lunch at your pad?
I didn't even know you could make your own baking powder! Cool!
ReplyDeleteSure, why not? It's just starch, cream of tarter and bicarb. Mix and bake.
DeleteWow, you're amazing. Don't know if I'd have the desire. I've just always wanted a pill to remove the need to eat.
ReplyDeleteA pill to remove to eat? Oh noooooo!
DeleteLove that you are already decorating for Halloween!
ReplyDeleteOur house is always semi-decorated in oogie boogie style, but I wait until the start of August for the orange lights.
DeleteHow about you? Do you decorate?
I didn't know baking powder contained corn either. If you put up your Hallowe'en decorations this early, how early do you do the other holidays?
ReplyDeleteBut to be fair, our house is semi-Halloween, year-round. Just that I wait until the start of August for the finishing touches.
DeleteRight after Halloween, goes Christmas.
What about Thanksgiving?
DeleteSomehow, a string of turkey lights just doesn't tickle my fancy, the same way Halloween and Christmas lights, do. Maybe it would help if the turkeys were dressed in Halloween costumes.
DeleteI had no idea it usually contains corn.
ReplyDeleteI haven't looked but there might be some on the market now without corn. But still, I'll keep making my own. Just more fun.
DeleteHow goes you today?
A day of chores for me, too. Lots and lots of cleaning. Ugh...now I'm exhausted. But we're one step closer to prepping our home for sale. Oh...and I wanted to say that you might want to ask Tim to help you carry the laundry basket. It's so heavy that one of your arms has stretched out and is much longer than the other one now. Oh, wait, maybe you should ask after the other has stretched, too :) Hehehe...I LOVE your quirky drawings.
ReplyDeleteOne step closer each day, that's the best. The best. Can't wait to hear more about your house hunting as we will be doing it after you.
DeleteHomemade baking powder...that is very impressive.
ReplyDeleteAnd had I not gotten sick, I would not have realized how easy it was to do.
DeleteWhat is homemade baking powder made of? And good for you for working your way around that allergy!
ReplyDeleteI'm still playing around but for my first go, I used arrowroot, cream of tartar and bicarb.
DeleteI agree with Martha! Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteMust go up to the big computer to see your videos....
Cheers!
Linda :o)
It's only 20 seconds. Not worth the travel allll the way upppp the stairs.
DeleteWay cool!
ReplyDeleteIt is.
Deletehahaa....yes ma'am...you ARE INDEED, THAT COOL.
ReplyDeleteand every time I come over to see you, Little Happy Whisk, I try to lick my screen to get some of your cho pie...recipe??
That wasn't mine, that was Holly's recipe. From her book, The ABC's of Desserts. Yum!

I didn't baking powder had corn in. I guess I learn something new every day. Great video!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dawn. Enjoy your blogging break. Hope you get to eat lots of yummy things and then come back and write about it.
DeleteBacking power has corn starch !
ReplyDeleteyour are so smart.
cheers, parsnip
I'm learning to make things in a way, I might not, had I not gotten sick.
DeleteLoved the shots in your last post. Very cool.
well I think you'll succeed just 'cause you want i have no allergies except that If I don't control myself I would eat sugar, starch, muffins, chocolate cakes, mud pies, SKOR and Praline and Cream ice Cream and Lindor, I want it all, and the second i eat any of it, my high thyroid looses it wherever i am, not pleasant, you'd think I wouldn't gain weight but hey no such luck, that's why I decided it's better not to have temptation in this apt, and that I have to go out if I want sugar and starch but it's not easy for me...'sides the oven well the entire apt was a pigsty when i moved in, and I never got around to cleaning the oven so I'll just visit you and drool, have a super weekend
ReplyDeleteSounds like your thyroid really plays games on your body. How long have you been on the higher side?
DeleteDo you like to bake?
