SHOTS FROM MY BAKERY

Today starts our NINE DAY staycation.  And the best part is that we don't have ANYTHING scheduled.  Each day, we can do whatever we ding dong well please.

Now that's good livin'.

Here's some shots from my bakery.  My bench faces the back deck.  And I tell you, I love it.  When we get our house, I hope to be lucky enough to have a view this great.

Cheers and boogie boogie.

  2. A clear schedule is the way to go because spontaneity is the best! We have done many, many staycations over the years, and just let each day unfold as it may. I hope you have a great time together.

That view is the best! It sure looks relaxing. And I love your dogs. They are so cute. They must really enjoy being out there.

    1. Thanks, Martha. Yes, that's how we like to roll. Today we are farting about getting stuff done. Tim mowed the lawn, I'm making rolls and caramelizing onions. Soon to hit the paint store because we need a THIRD can of Lemon Tart.

Have a most excellent weekend as well with your honey bunny. Cheers and boogie boogie.

  5. a good view from the working surface in the kitchen is such a bliss.... I don't have it, though :( Is that a forest around your place?

    1. It looks like a forest but it only goes back a wee bit. Then after is a field, then more trees. The land belongs to a very nice man, that lets us use it. He said we could remove the trees and plant a garden but I just don't have the heart to take the trees down.

Plus, they make the back cooler, come hot summer days, of which we don't get many, but it's still nice just the same.

    1. It's been one of those super easy-going kind of days that I just love. Do you bake?

    2. Hmm ... occasionally. Have got a convection oven ... which is positively useless. They're supposed to be good. Not the case for mine. Bloody thing ..

    3. Oh, no. I'm sorry to hear it's not working. I have a small fan oven on the counter and we love how much better the bakes fluff up, and evenly brown.

Have you tried lowering the temp from any recipe you try? I find I don't need to heat the fan oven as high and the regular one. Or even, bake as long.

Gosh, I hope you can get it to work because having a fan oven is an amazing baker's tool.

    4. So I've heard. Yep, lowered the temperature. I suspect it needs to go to the great oven-graveyard-in-the-sky. And I will gladly put it there (with a swift kick) when I save up for another one.

    5. Oh, I am sorry you got a bummer one. Someday when we get our house, I'll be buying a big fan oven. But I'll still keep our little one because it does small batches so nicely.

Sorry yours doesn't. May I know what brand you bought?

      Delete
    6. BAUMATIC is the brand. It burns everything around the edges. Doesn't make sense considering air is being forced 'equally' around the oven.

I shall not be buying that brand again.

    7. I will note this name because I want my fan oven to bake evenly. The little one for the counter does, but when I get a big one, I for sure want to know what brands suck and what ones, don't. Thanks.

And again, sorry yours is not good.
