Meanwhile, I'm running WAY late today. Never made it to the market and I still have to get tonight's meal together. I'm rolling turkey dogs in dough. Got the dogs for free. Actually, they paid me a dime to take each package out of the store. Thank you, coupons and sales.
Anyway, that's the scoop for today. I tell you what, I'm starting to feel like writing a post each day isn't so easy. I will hit 44 in a row, but 444 feels less likely.
Cheers and boogie boogie.
I bet they taste good anyway.
ReplyDeleteOnly the crunchy one tasted good.
DeleteThose would be perfect as part of a romantic Valentine's Day dinner!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I'm going for.
DeleteHello! My name is Bobbybegood1 and I love your blog and will follow. I found your wonderful blog via Debra She Who Seeks. I love her blog. You do a blog on food? I love you already. Those look wonderful. Yum! I hope we can become blogfriends. Cheers!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice words and welcome to my little corner of the web. Yes, food, dogs, life, bakes, cooking, really, whatever I fancy.
DeleteI hope you enjoy your stay, we have a good bunch here. Really funny folks, too.
The key if the dough is bland is to put some salty topping on them: mix 80ml of water (or a bit less) with 3 tbsp of salt and 3 tbsp of flour and pipe or sprinkle over your scones about 5 minutes before they're done in the oven.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dezzy:
DeleteMy bad, I should have explained better. The texture of the pillow ones were bland because the salty topping season on top, was only on the crusty tops of the heart pillows. And the bottoms where just flat with no crunch. Kind of dull in texture and taste.
BUT, the one that stayed flat, almost like a cracker was very very good. They were like little heart-shaped bread sticks, is the best way to describe.
I've never tried flour on my scones before, what kind of crust does it make? Usually I egg wash my scones with some big crunchy sugar bits. Mmmm mmmm good.
professional baker use that salty topping on their bagels and buns here. You don't top the whole scone with it, just drip a bit of it over or make little lines across the scone. It turns out gummy and salty and looks lovely on the scones. Here's how it looks like: http://1331999.blogspot.com/2013/01/perece.html
DeleteI love salty tops on my homemade bagels. So good. But I also like a mix of pretzel salt and organic seasoning mix of seeds, garlic, onion and parsley. So yummy.
DeleteJust looked at the picture. Those are scones to you? They are pretzels to me. They look wonderful. Yum.
DeleteSuper cute! Way to go, you! You're becoming a baker *extraordinaire* :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a great deal of fun.
DeleteWell, like they say "If at first you don't suck seed . . . "
ReplyDelete;) & :D
Do you bake? I forget if I asked?
DeleteUna gran delicia irresistible muy bonito los corazones, abrazos.
ReplyDeleteGracias. Me encanta el corazón. Cocinar feliz.
Deletecute hearts
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteThey are adorable! What a nice little treat to slip in someone's lunch bag.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea. A little I love you, heart in a lunch pack. I like that idea.
DeleteHi Happy!
ReplyDeleteNot sure why I never visited before....
You joined my blog ages ago.....
Well....I think that you are very witty...and those hearts look like chunky, salty pretzels!♥️
Will visit often.....happy whisking!
Cheers!
Linda:o)
Hi Linda - Yes, I remember joining your blog. Great shot of the moon you snagged. Very nice.
DeleteThanks for the nice words and welcome to my little corner of the web. We have a nice group here, some funny folks too. Welcome.
The hearts looked yummy.
ReplyDeleteOnly one was good, the rest not.
DeleteIf you have any romantic and reasonable desert recipes (reasonable in terms of time and costs), I'd be curious.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't so much for a significant other but more for a friend who has been really great to me and she and I share a lot of mutual events and connections in Feb.
Those heart...er...rolls? Buns? Bagels with no hole? Whatever, they just look so cool.
Does she have a pet dog, by chance? I've got a cheap and easy Valentine Pup Treat coming up.
DeleteThey were just leftover bits of bread dough that I cut into hearts and sprinkled pretzel salt and seasoning on. The flat crackery bread stick one was the best of the bunch.
Glad it wasn't only ME who thought blogging everyday was hard. :) I'll keep cheering you on, though!
ReplyDeleteOh, and those hearts look cute. Have fun making more!
It's funny. I do alright and but then I hit a snag or I get busy baking. I'll hit 44 but I don't know past that. One step at a time, I suppose.
DeleteThanks - I am excited to make more.
Those look awesome! Bland is no fun though. Considering I just paid $4 for hotdogs, I have serious hotdog envy that they paid you to buy some.
ReplyDeleteIt's weird right? How do I get paid a dime for each pack? Just weird. But fun, too.
DeleteWell 44 in a row is pretty amazing! Hope it is still fun at post 44!
ReplyDeleteThose hearts look good, even if they were bland.
I always think it is amazing you get paid to take groceries home. You ROCK!
Thanks Jen - How goes your weekend?
DeleteWell, that's what experimenting with recipes is for!
ReplyDeleteThat's the fun of it all.
