Since I'm writing a book, I'm gonna have to buy a butt-load of ingredients and take many trips to the market. It's part of my job now, you know.
And now, it's time for some battered fish with honey. Because I don't care what Ray says, honey rocks on battered fish. He'll tell ya vinegar but I tried that and while it added a bit of zip, it still can't beat honey.
That's all folks. Best get to my chores. Hope whatever meal your about to eat, is num num nummy.
Eat well & boogie often.
Honey on fish? I might have to try that.
ReplyDeleteAlex: I'm telling ya, it's so good. But I love honey. Even on chicken strips. And in tea. And in others things that aren't fish, chicken and tea. Only I can't think of them right now because I'm too hungry.
ReplyDeleteHoney is yummy. My mother always puts it on her waffles. I like it on biscuits. The first time I had done that in front of my husband's cousins (in West Virginia), they freaked out! I thought - who DOESN'T put honey on their biscuits? Never did figure out if they were the strange ones (being in WV) or if I were (being from CA).
ReplyDeleteStacy: Honey is yummy, might be what I change this blog post to. Because that will really get Ray and be true at the same time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the idea.
Freaked out over honey? Oh, it's just so good. Have you had it on peanut butter toast?
Honey is great on fish, Ray's slightly retarded........
ReplyDeleteLurker: See, and I tried it his way and he won't even try it my way. What a butt.
ReplyDeletemmmm makes me think of vinegar on raw oysters. Now my mouth's squirting. Don't know I would like honey on fish. I like honey on fried chook. And honey in hot lemon drinks. Lemon on fish is yum yum.
ReplyDeleteI used to keep bees and honeycomb on toast is just the best.
Niki: I like it on battered fish but I don't know about unbattered. I'd try it but I think I don't now if it would be as good as battered fish.
ReplyDeleteNever in my life at a honeycomb, but I'd try it if I saw it at the farmer's market.
Really got a kick out of your bird post. Tim laughed as well. Good stuff.
Honey on fish. don't think I've tried that.
ReplyDeleteUrghhh!!!!!! Yuk! LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteI was almost expecting a silly old bear to show up with that blog title!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever tried it on fish, but it is yummy, and healthy as well, and it comes in all kinds of varieties for a more specifc effect. A good alternative to sugar at least. But traditional British fish and chips is great too.
ReplyDeleteAlways hungry after visiting here! I looooove honey! I have a Teriyake (sp?) marinade I use for fish that has honey in it. I'll have to try honey on battered fish sometime--sounds interesting;).
ReplyDeleteHoney on fish? I'll have to tell my girlfriend, she occasionally enjoys fish and chips. Would that work?
ReplyDeleteSusan: It's so nummy on battered fish.
ReplyDeleteRay: You didn't even try it so I don't wanna hear it. And I went all the way to the far away store to buy the right kind of vinegar.
William: Gotcha.
Porky: Do you like salmon? One time Tim got me an amazing piece from the fish deli. So good. Fish & chips though, is the best.
Maria: So great to see you. I've missed your blog over the time you were away. Thanks for the drop-in and Happy 2012.
Veghead: Yeppers, that's the kind I put my honey on. So good. But then, I'm a honey freak. Love that stuff.
Thank you for stopping by today. I've seen you on Angry's page as well. You've got a lovely blog here. And your hubby has one as well. I think I just gained 5 pounds by while looking at some of the pictures and reading ingrediants. Best wishes on your book!
ReplyDeleteAnne: Thanks for the well wishes. I'm glad to read that your hubby is out of the hospital. Have a groovy weekend :-)
ReplyDeleteI just saw you've decided to go ahead with the book, awesome! Let me know if you feel any needs for test kitchen runs, I'll be able to do normal fun things again after the dissertation is in the can in a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteMy brain is so scrambled from the diss that I read "Honey rocks on battered fish" and pictured rocks made of honey on top of fish that had been severely beaten. Poor fish. Poor brain.
Endra: That is fantastic. Thanks. Here's hoping the rest of your dissertation goes smoothly.
ReplyDeleteHow is is going this week?
Poor brain and poor fish, is right. Funny as well but I'm hoping you get done soon and can get back to gaming and cooking.
I'm headed to prep. So don't want to go because Tim is home for the day. I just want to stay home and play.
Thanks again. Awesome offer. Will come by this weekend and give you my email address.
Hmm, I was thinking about getting some fish today...maybe I'll try some honey with it :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds fantastic, and I never would have thought to try it! I have trouble battering fish and frying it at home--we don't have a deep fryer, so it always ends up an experimental mess. I wish there was a way of doing fish and chips (and honey!) in a flat pan with just a little oil and still getting that great expanding crust :)
ReplyDeleteI've never tried honey on fish, but I do put it on chicken fingers...sounds like something I should be trying!
ReplyDeletemshatch: Happy Eating.
ReplyDeleteJess: I don't make fried chicken at home because of the oil smell. It just stays in the house so dang long. But I'd love to write a recipe that makes fried chicken or battered fish, in the oven.
Lo-mo: Just had honey on breaded chicken last night, with our crappy pizzas.
So good.
