Staycation vs. The Bad Belly

Last day of staycation and thankfully we're both feeling better.  But I tell ya, it sucked that we got shot down in the end with a nasty tummy virus (Tim) and a whack-a-do spine (me).  Although, I still feel recharged and thankful.

As I write this post (outside and long-hand), Tim's at his desk calculating Manor sales, the pups are running around, and I'm about to take notes on a blueberry waffle formula I wrote today, using white rice flour and spelt.

I like how the white rice flour added an additional airiness.  But I'm off with regard to the liquid.  Next go, I'll take it down by 10-20ml, and see how that works.

Anyone who wants to try white rice flour (or any Bob's Red Mill product), click Bob's Red Mill and snag a coupon.

I also recommend the organic spelt.  As some of you know, I'm crazy for spelt.  Whatever I can put it in, I do.  I even use it to make gravies, sauces, leves, and goulash.

Love it.  Love the spelt.

And that my Buttfaces, concludes another broadcast day.  Thanks for reading and boogie boogie.

  3. I've heard about spelt a number of times recently so I had to wiki it to see what it is... I've never even heard of the Serbian word for it before reading the wiki article...

    1. It's a wonderful ancient grain, though it's often confused with farro. But I tell ya, I love using spelt. Made for the most delicious Cinnamon French Toast.

Should you find yourself with a bag, I'd love to hear what you think of it.

      Cheers and boogie boogie.

  7. Great. Now I'm going to be craving blueberry waffles. My husband and I have both been suffering from stomach upset for the past few days, so maybe it's something in the seasonal changes! But the spine thing is far worse than stomach stuff. Glad you're feeling better.

    1. This was a BAD BAD tummy virus. I'll not include the details but it's not a stomach upset, it's a full on attack.

  8. That new header is just amazing! What a sweet furry face :)

Well, I'm glad you are both feeling better. It does suck being shot down like that in the end, but thankfully it didn't start in the beginning and last for an entire week! There's the optimist in me leaking out...LOL...

Put on your wonder woman gear and enjoy your day!

    1. Thanks, Martha. I love it too. She just has such a good look. She was doing a similar face this morning when I was out cleaning poo, but alas, no camera in hand.

You have a most excellent garden week. I hope to be doing that next week, myself. But this week, I've got more indoor stuff that needs done.

Yes, I am thankful that it wasn't the full week and that it wasn't an obstruction of some kind. Whew.

      Off to get cracked ...

    1. Thanks, they are. We got to get out some yesterday so that was fun. How was your weekend with Lady Rachel?

    2. We had a great time, thanks. Went for a good walk around a nearby lake and Rachel got some gardening done (too physical for me, so I provided moral support and ordered a takeaway for dinner).

Barney came indoors again on Saturday to watch TV with us for a couple of hours. We're trying to overcome his antisocial tendencies and persuade him to be a bit more "human-friendly". Not sure if it's working yet! :-)

    3. That's great about the weekend and Barney. Sounds like it was a good two days. Gosh, remember was it only last weekend when we had three days? I miss that already.

  10. I will have to check out spelt flour when I go to the bulk store next. Sounds like it can be used in everything. Those cookies you made looked amazing!

    1. You might be able to get coupons for your area. Not for sure about that though. Yes, I do love it. It's a weird flour, it's known not to hold form, but I don't mind that bit. Love to hear what you think of it.

    1. It's an ancient grain, and it's almost sweet but not sickly. It makes for wonderful cookies biscuits and waffles. And it makes for good flatbread. I love it.
