I scored these little 59ml bottles of Tabasco for free. Never been a fan but now that I'm baking with vinegar, I thought I'd give them another go.
Which brings me to today's Friday Question: Who likes Tabasco? What do you put it on? Have you baked with it? For me, I'm going with a spicy muffin or scone. See how that goes.
I love it! I put it on just about any grain/veg/tofu combo. I also put it on pizza.
ReplyDeleteNever had it on tofu. Might try, now that I have two billion bottles.
DeletePizza! I'll have to try that. Yeah, anything that would benefit from a hot sauce is fair game.
ReplyDeleteI tried it on pizza, but the vinegar was too strong, still. Not enough heat.
DeleteMince dishes, anything you want to give a kick to or a mates drink!
ReplyDeleteRayolla's drink, then?
DeleteTabasco stinks. I know, my husband loves the stuff. He puts it on his eggs. I'm not a fan of the hot. Heck, if it can't get past my nose, it ain't going in my mouth! :)
ReplyDeleteTim said he had a comment to your comment but resisted the urge to post.
DeleteToo hot and spicy for me but my son loves the stuff :)
ReplyDeleteToo hot? I don't taste the heat. I taste vinegar. There's coupons on coupons.com if you want to get some for your son. It's Tabasco season.
Deletenever tried it, we don't have it here...
ReplyDeleteDo you guys have hot sauces in your area?
DeleteI make it a point to steer clear of anything too hot or spicy. My GI tract is already a mess!
ReplyDeleteThat's true, best not to mess with it.
DeleteI'm not a big Tabasco fan but the only thing I can think of putting it in is chili or taco meat or something.
ReplyDeleteDo you like heat at all? To me, Tabasco is not heat. It's vinegar and pepper tasting. Hoping to work around that and use it in a bake.
DeleteSo good for some veggie stews only a drops and is tasty and amazing!
ReplyDeleteI never thought about veggie stew. Thanks.
DeleteI use it on everything and when I ate pizza it is so good on it. I always use it in my low salt tomato juice.
ReplyDeleteI am loving the Green Tabasco Sauce right now
I use lots of Japanese and Asian hot sauce and peppers.
The best Tabasco Sauce is a limited edition made in Japan that has yuzu added. I wish they would sell that here but I don't think they make enough. Son always sends me one bottle. They are all gone the day they are put on the shelves.
Add it to any savory dish and especially good with eggs.
A few drops can liven up any dish.
cheers, parsnip
I got the green for free but didn't feel that the cornstarch (cornflour for UK), and xanthan gum were needed. Maybe if they removed those two thickening agents, I might have enjoyed the green. Though, they would still need to up the heat for me. Too mild.
DeleteNever heard of yuzu, will google it. Glad he gets you what you like. That is very cool.
My husband and son like Tabasco on scrambled eggs and omelets.
ReplyDeleteEggs are very popular, I'm learning.
DeleteI'm not a fan of Tabasco but my youngest son uses it in something he makes so I always have some in the house.
ReplyDeleteCoupons on coupons.com for it.
DeleteOutside of chili I don't really use it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Happy.
Have a great weekend, right back.
DeleteI love Tabasco. I've never baked with it, but I have sprinkled it into casseroles/stews etc ... to give a nice warmth to the meal.
ReplyDeleteOh, and of course a good dollop doesn't go astray in a Bloody Mary. Just saying ...
I'm hoping that when I bake with it, the vinegar taste will burn off. Right now, that's all I taste, with very little heat.
DeleteI've never had a Bloody Mary. Quite the name though. Cheers and boogie boogie.
PS: How are you holding up?
I don't think I've ever tasted it.
ReplyDeleteTo me, it tastes mostly of vinegar.
DeleteTabasco sauce. My human friend, Gary, just purchased a bottle from Sainsbury's supermarket in Leek, Staffordshire. He adds a few drops to a glass of tomato juice or V8 juice.
ReplyDeleteHave a spicy weekend, my human friend.
Geoffrey :)
Maybe I'll add it to my juicing that I do. That might work out okay. Thanks.
DeleteI don't like it
ReplyDeleteUnderstandable.
DeleteI do use it but not very often. And when a recipe calls for it, I determine whether I'll include it or not depending on what's being made.
ReplyDeleteAlso understandable. Thanks for playing and boogie boogie.
DeleteHot sauce can be put on anything! Rice, eggs, potatoes, steak, chicken...
ReplyDeleteWe love it in our family!
Not on muffins though.
It's the vinegar in the Tabasco that I don't care for. Plus, there's not enough heat. I'm hoping if I bake it in a spicy cheese scone/biscuit/muffin, that the vinegar will burn off.
DeleteI love Tabasco on Puffy Cheetos, on scrambled eggs and especially on hash browns
ReplyDeletePuffy Cheetos. That's a good idea. I have coupon for Tabasco potato chips, but won't get them until they reach the low low prices of, free.
