These counters are pink. Been here since the last owner. She put pink everywhere. Even the wallpaper had little pink roses, most of which we've long since painted over. I enjoy pink but not at the bat crap crazy level.
We have a few options. Ignore the counters (tried that, not a fan), paint them, replace them or make our own.
No pinkalicious for you huh?
ReplyDeleteReplacing them would be best but expensive I imagine.
ReplyDeleteI like pink, but not for house colors. Ugh. And pink counters? Good GOd what was she thinking?! I'd want to replace.
ReplyDeleteIn the 50's there were lots of pink bathrooms but I don't remember ever seeing a pink kitchen...EVER:-)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what shade of pink it is. We had a elderly neighbor lady in Portland who had the whole exterior of her house painted a brightish pink. The interior was normal, but we sure missed the splash of color when she had to move to an assisted living home, and the house was painted gray to sell! We children called her the candy grandma since she made a point of always carrying some candy in her pocket for us...a really nice lady. Hope you're able to figure out what to do with those counters.
ReplyDeleteYeah, pink is the kind of colour where a little goes a LONG way.
ReplyDeleteReplacing them would be best as you could get exactly what you want but certainly not the cheapest option.
ReplyDeletePink counters were once popular...but not anymore.
ReplyDeleteMy dad designed and built houses. I recall in the '60s, pastel appliances were the trend. Then it was coppertone. Then white. Now, my current kitchen has all black and chrome.
I'd definitely personally replace them. It's expensive, but the joy of a counter top that you picked out and absolutely love cannot be undersold. ;)
ReplyDeleteReplace or paint.
ReplyDeleteOUch! PInk? Replace can be expensive but I'd go with that.
ReplyDeleteSounds a bit 1950s! :))
ReplyDeleteI've never seen pink counter tops. But pink bathrooms and all were definitely in the '50's. I'd replace!
ReplyDeleteI like pink although I am stuck with pale pink kitchen cupboards from the previous owner. Not planning to change them anytime soon. It might be fun choosing countertops but can be expensive, especially the ones I like.
ReplyDeleteA pink kitchen? Sigh. Probably an improvement on a house we saw before we bought this one. The kitchen was RED. Very red. Red floor, red cupboards, red bench-tops. And a bright red fridge (which went with the house). My eyes hurt.
ReplyDeleteI was watching one of those home shows where people re-purpose buildings and make homes from them and in one, they used something on the laminate counters to freshen and resurface them and it looked nice. I will try to pull it up and see what they used and let you know if you're interested.
ReplyDeleteIt was an epoxy coating or resin and it looked white and the counters were white. I also looked and there were some youtube videos showing how to do this as a cheap alternative to new countertops...it may or may not work, just letting you know in case it is something you want to consider.
DeleteVery cool. Thanks bunches, e.
DeletePink counters sound a bit pink. Gotta love pink rosebud wallpaper though, maybe inside a small cupboard.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that you showed us the pink counter in black and white.
My grandma had pink counters w white cabinets and it was beautiful. That was years ago though.
ReplyDeleteThe fastest is remplacing them but paiting them could be nice. xoxo
ReplyDeletePink is not a favourite colour of mine but I can handle it in small doses. We ran across some paint for counters at the hardware store. It looks really interesting. I'd be curious to see how that turns out.
ReplyDeleteNow I have always liked pink ... but sometimes you can get a pink overload!
ReplyDeleteI like the header in black and white!
Happy Tuesday
All the best Jan
I know how you feel! When we moved in to our house everything was pink the curtains, the paint, and the carpets - and this was in the living room too not just the bedrooms and bathrooms. Wow! I like pink, but not as an overall house color. Although, we do have one pink bathroom, doesn't everyone? When my son moved out for the 3rd time my husband decided to re-paint his room pink so he wouldn't come back. It backfired, the color on the wall looked like pepto bismal and we had to repaint it! It made us all physically sick. :) Live and learn! Oh, and that son is back home again. He loves the blue.
ReplyDeleteBoogerbutts: Thanks for all your comments, guys. Very nice to read them. My goal is to build our own cupboards and countertops but ... before any of that happens we have more things to fix. So, I may opt for a non-toxic sort of countertop paint for now.
ReplyDeleteThanks again and Happy Weekend :-)
Pink counter tops are pretty radical HW, mine were orange when we moved in but are now wood.. handy hubby ☺
