I demoed my first closet, EVER! Truth is, I don't know what I'm doing but who cares. I learn as I go. And with any luck, by the time I finish demoing our trailer, I'll get to keep all my front teeth.
That is the dream, you know.

No Thank You
Here's what we saw this week. It is poorly constructed with cheap materials and way, way, way over-priced. They want 44 thousand dollars for it. No thank you.

Why are you looking at trailers when you're fixing yours up? Or are you looking for something larger?

DeleteGo for it, I've done the same many times. It's the only way and the secret to success is that spackle or plaster can cover just about any mistake, especially when it comes to unequal measurements, because you cover it all with paint! :)

DeleteAmazing how prices have increased. We used to have a trailer in NC, a single wide, and paid around $80-$90 rent. Friend who still lives in a single wide on the same park, says she is now paying $300. That is ridiculous. Not only that, she says they have so many rules and regulations now that it's ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteOur trailer mortgage is LONG paid off but our lot rent is 255/month. I like your 80-90 much better.

DeleteWhat a fun and freeing project...excuse me...overhaul, you guys are doing. I'm like you, I learn as I go. I say, why hire a bunch of people (except electricians/plumbers) when I can knock stuff down and tear stuff out myself? It's so much fun! And painting? I love it! Sure, it takes awhile for me because it may hurt a bit...but hey, what's the rush? Right? Fun stuff to see the finished product. Hope you're having a blast and taking it slow and steady.

DeleteI do what works for me and my time frame. Being able to do this stuff and fix as we want, as we can afford it and by our time clock, is the best.
Today, I'm putting the Lemon Tart Room back together but first, it's onto apple hand-pies.

Hope you find just the right, high-quality trailer for you! I remember when we were house-hunting when I was a small child. It seemed like a lot of fun to me. We almost bought what we called a "paper-mache" house (pre-manufactured) once. I'm glad we ended up with something higher-quality.
