Here's what we saw this week. It is poorly constructed with cheap materials and way, way, way over-priced. They want 44 thousand dollars for it. No thank you.
In other news ...
I demoed my first closet, EVER! Truth is, I don't know what I'm doing but who cares. I learn as I go. And with any luck, by the time I finish demoing our trailer, I'll get to keep all my front teeth.
You are becoming the demo expert. For that much money, you could get a really nice fifth wheel with all the bells and whistles. And then you could go live anywhere!
Go for it, I've done the same many times. It's the only way and the secret to success is that spackle or plaster can cover just about any mistake, especially when it comes to unequal measurements, because you cover it all with paint! :)
Amazing how prices have increased. We used to have a trailer in NC, a single wide, and paid around $80-$90 rent. Friend who still lives in a single wide on the same park, says she is now paying $300. That is ridiculous. Not only that, she says they have so many rules and regulations now that it's ridiculous.
Does everyone except me know what your word "demo-ing" means? Does it mean destroying or remaking? And Mr. Google's definition is neither of these. Do tell, Ivy.
What a fun and freeing project...excuse me...overhaul, you guys are doing. I'm like you, I learn as I go. I say, why hire a bunch of people (except electricians/plumbers) when I can knock stuff down and tear stuff out myself? It's so much fun! And painting? I love it! Sure, it takes awhile for me because it may hurt a bit...but hey, what's the rush? Right? Fun stuff to see the finished product. Hope you're having a blast and taking it slow and steady.
Hope you find just the right, high-quality trailer for you! I remember when we were house-hunting when I was a small child. It seemed like a lot of fun to me. We almost bought what we called a "paper-mache" house (pre-manufactured) once. I'm glad we ended up with something higher-quality.
Why are you looking at trailers when you're fixing yours up? Or are you looking for something larger?
ReplyDeleteNoooooooooooooooo!
DeleteNot looking for larger.
That trailer is WAY overpriced!
ReplyDelete:-)
Deletesounds like you are learning a lot with demo of the closet!
ReplyDeleteUp next, learn floors.
DeleteWhat's the plan for the closet?
ReplyDeleteWith the closet gone, we can now move the stuff in the room to any wall we want. Ah ... the freedom of space.
DeleteThanks for asking :-)
You are becoming the demo expert.
ReplyDeleteFor that much money, you could get a really nice fifth wheel with all the bells and whistles. And then you could go live anywhere!
Here's to the freedom, Alex!
DeleteWay to go, Ivy! I like your style, learn as you go and I do that myself. Good luck with your projects! And have fun!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I like your idea for the top of the fruit. You inspired me. Thanks.
DeleteI think I missed why you are moving but find a tiny house builder and design your own home. Kind of like what Alex said.
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip and thehamish
Or, build your own, eh?
DeleteGo for it, I've done the same many times. It's the only way and the secret to success is that spackle or plaster can cover just about any mistake, especially when it comes to unequal measurements, because you cover it all with paint! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat advice, Yolanda.

ReplyDeleteOur trailer mortgage is LONG paid off but our lot rent is 255/month. I like your 80-90 much better.
DeleteWhat rules and regulations is she under? Sounds unpleasant.

ReplyDeleteI was wondering too. :-)
DeleteDemo is short for demolition.
DeleteMost fun word, ever.
That price is too steep!
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteDemolishing things can be surprisingly cathartic - and fun can't it.
ReplyDeleteThat is soooooo over priced. And sadly someone will probably buy it.
Considering how sick I was last year, to be here now, taking things apart and learning new skills, it's heaven.
DeleteI don't know how this place stays in business. There were at one time, three more like it, but they all went under.
just like cars, houses/trailers always are up-sold at first.
ReplyDeleteAck!
DeleteHope all yours proyect work dear Ivy :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI love your "can-do" spirit, Ivy. Cannot wait to see your finished space...wanna come work in my house?
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!
I have the time. I have the energy. Why not learn something new that helps us?
DeleteIt's great that you are just digging right in. Best way to learn is to get your hands dirty! Are you thinking of moving?
ReplyDeleteAgreed best way to learn.
DeleteNot looking to move. Gonna try and fix the foundation here, if possible.
You are inspiring me to make some much needed changes too. Love you can-do attitude.
ReplyDeleteWow, cool. What changes are you working on?

ReplyDeleteGreat comment, Elsie.
DeleteI do what works for me and my time frame. Being able to do this stuff and fix as we want, as we can afford it and by our time clock, is the best.
Today, I'm putting the Lemon Tart Room back together but first, it's onto apple hand-pies.
Hope you get to the beach this weekend. Do you bring books when you go?

ReplyDeleteNot looking to move. Gonna try and fix the foundation here, if possible. But we did see a lot of paper-mache houses on the lot.
DeleteMy "slides" are usually "accidents"...
ReplyDeletehouse has hard-wood floors (from the 1950's)
" Considering how sick I was last year, to be here now, taking things apart and learning new skills, it's heaven."
ReplyDeleteIvy, these words of yours in a comment above are simply the BEST
All the best Jan
I totally agree with your assessment of this, Ivy!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are one busy person! Keep having fun!!
