Last night I made a big honkin' double crust apple pie, all the way from scratch. Today we're having it for breakfast. A nice cold chunk of homemade apple pie.
Heaven on a plate.
Then over the weekend, I'm going to bake mini cherry hand-pies. I'm on a coconut oil, pie crust making kick these days. Whatever fruit goes on sale, goes in a pie.
Still, I don't think I have a favorite. I love blackberry, cherry, apple, peach, lemon, banana, coconut and all that, but if I had to pick just one, I couldn't do it. Though I can say, I like mostly all of them cold.
How about you? Gotta a favorite pie?
Bumbleberry!
ReplyDeleteOh no. Don't eat The Bumble!
DeleteMy wife is sick, we won't be doing anything until she is better... sleep. and American Pie. :)
ReplyDeleteHope she's feeling better now.
Deletedo you ever bake with sour cherries? Because I've noticed that nobody ever mentions them in recipes... And here in my country we only have them, since the regular cherries are such sensitive trees and all the fruit gets exported .... Sour cherries are better for baking because they have stronger aroma and are juicer.
ReplyDeleteI will bake with anything that's on sale for a killer price. Right now sweet cherries are in season near me. Killer good in the hand-pies I made.
DeleteSorry to hear that your trees are sensitive.
I'm actually not much of a pie eater.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Fourth, Ivy!
Not even one kind, eh?
DeleteI love all pie too (except coconut). I love apple pie cold with a nice slice of cheese on top.
ReplyDeleteApple and cheese ... yum!
DeleteI may not know you yet, but I want to come over and eat pie with you already. By the way, I love anything with berries and coconut ;-)
ReplyDeleteTwo excellent choices.
DeleteMy favorite as a youngster was the Blueberry Sour Cream pie at Dupar's (a restaurant in Thousand Oaks, CA). Which is strange since I'm not a fan of sour cream. But that pie was to die for!
ReplyDeleteI'm still partial to blueberry pie, which I notice wasn't on your list. Did you just forget it or aren't you a fan?
I am, I just forgot it. Love me some blueberries in anything really. Waffles, muffins, pies. Oh my goodness, what little treats, they are. Can't believe I left it out. But hey, I left out pumpkin too.
DeleteDuh, on me.
Yum!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite pie? Key Lime...though I also love cherry, Dutch apple, blueberry, banana cream and custard!
I left out Key Lime. Good one!
DeletePie is perfect for breakfast! Lucky you! I love apple, cherry and all that you mentioned. It would be very hard to pick a favorite! Happy 4th to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to pick, I agree.
DeleteI love my apple pie hot but the rest of them cold. Probably cherry is my second favorite pie.
ReplyDeleteBoth excellent.
DeleteYum. Apple pie for breakfast. I love a good pecan pie, or chocolate creme. Those are my faves :)
ReplyDeleteI totally forgot pecan. Duh.
DeleteChocolate creme ain't bad either.
I've gone through different phases where I had different favorites -- cherry, crumb-topped apple, lemon meringue.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Bard makes a really awesome vegan lemon pie, which is probably my favorite right now. After that, cherry (it's probably always my #1 or #2 no matter what kind of phase I'm going through).
I love when you call her Mrs. Bard. So great. Yum on the vegan lemon pie. Sounds fantastic.
DeleteI like any pie, but I think peach is my favorite.
ReplyDeletePeach is a good one.
DeleteNo such thing as a bad pie, but if I must rank them:
ReplyDelete1) Pumpkin pie (I don't have cake for my birthday; I have pumpkin pie.)
2) Warm sour cherry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice scream
3) Key lime pie with cinnamon graham cracker and walnut crust
4) Warm apple pie with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream
5) Chocolate cream pie
I can't believe that I left out pumpkin pie. I should have my Halloween Card pulled for that one.
Deletenot much of a pie person
ReplyDeleteNot a one, eh?
DeleteI prefer pie to cake, but don't really have a favourite. I do enjoy pecan pie, pumpkin, sugar, apple, key lime, coconut cream, chocolate cream, lemon meringue...and the list goes on! It's pretty hard to settle on one, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI found it really hard to settle on one.
DeleteIt's probably a tie between blueberry and cherry, but I love almost every kind- except pecan pie, since I don't like pecans.
ReplyDeleteI remember that you don't like pecans. Thanks for playing though. These Friday Questions are fun for me to read.
DeleteMine is a tie between sweet potato pie and raspberry pie. Both I could eat all the time and not get bored. Love them.
ReplyDeleteThat's the great thing about good pie. Can't get bored. Too flippin' good.
