Homemade Creamer (it's so frickin' easy)

I concocted homemade tea and coffee creamer using sweetened condensed milk, almond milk and organic extract (essence).  I eyeballed the ingredients.

And it's so frickin' easy.

The first batch was vanilla and the second was vanilla almond.  Loved them both, but vanilla almond took the lead.

What's nice is the condensed milk adds some sweet, plus thickness, that almond milk alone just doesn't have.  And the almond milk (or soy, or regular milk), thins out the condensed and together, they get along really well.

If you give this a go, I would love to hear how you liked it.  Again, I eyeballed mine the first time out.  But once I sample all my flavors, I'll probably write up a formula.  Anyone who wants my final results, you're welcome to them.

As I was writing this post the doctor's office called saying they have a BIG stack of coupons for me.  But I have a flat tire and can't go get them.  So I best go clean the fridge like I was supposed to last week before we lost hot water.

Meanwhile, it was a kickass day at work.  Which I was relieved to have, and now I'm home until Thursday morning.

Not too shabby.  Cheers and boogie boogie.

Tim found this picture for me.  I love it.

  1. Hope your flat tire is fixed soon.
Is there a low-fat recipe? My wife is funny about the full fat stuff.

    1. The condensed milk I used has 1g of saturated fat per 15ml (1 US TB).

Not sure if that's helpful. I'll have to look next time I go. See if there's a lighter one.

    1. It's very easy and fun. And it doesn't have to be extract/essence. It can be flavoring of any kind. I'm going to toy with a ginger peach one because I love that in hot tea.

  5. I hate getting a flat tire. My first flat tire literally just tore itself apart. I was lucky I found a place to park to the side.

    1. I think you'll have fun making flavors. I used Giant Eagle condensed milk and Simply Organic extracts - and almond milk.

Though any kind of milk you fancy will work just fine. Enjoy :-)

  7. I LOVE your image and your idea for homemade creamer. We are big coffee drinkers here and this sounds like something I could use a lot. I like that it's cheap and easy.

    1. I should clarify, that's it's cheap for me because I always have extracts/essences on hand for baking. And we drink almond milk daily. So aside from the condensed milk, we don't have to buy any extra stuff.

Enjoy and please take that image for yourself. I don't know where Tim got it but it's great fun.

  8. I don't usually like flavors in my hot coffee (don't want sweet), so I just use plain creamer (and it's powdered - keeps longer). However, I love flavors (mmm, caramel) in my cold coffee, but flavors tend to add tooooo many calories, so I avoid them.

That picture is cool, though. Took me a moment to realize it was MOVING!!

    1. How about unsweetened condensed milk with extracts? Extracts have no sweet. We have a bunch on hand for my bakes.

I love caramel iced coffee, to. So good.

Yeah, it does take a bit of time to see that it's MOVING, as you say. It's fun stuff. I've been holding it for awhile.

    1. Jen: I remember that and that's what made me remember, there was something I was supposed to buy condensed milk for and at the time of your post, I don't think I could remember what it was. Then, I ran out of creamer and I remembered.

      Duh.

    2. :)

It is on sale at one of our grocery stores today. Normally $3.29, on for $1.88. Definitely going to pick some more up! :)

    3. Jen: I hope you have fun with it. I made another small batch of almond vanilla. Then I drank just an almond one in my tea. Love it in the tea.
