Remember the Car Money We Were Saving?

Well it's all about to go bye bye because our hot water heater crashed yesterday.  Yeppers, wave goodbye to our little savings.  Cuz it's Gonesville City, folks.

Then just this week both our cars just got worked on.  Thankfully nothing major, but still money.  It's times like these that I am happy to have a stockpile of freebies.

We might be eating toothpaste and deodorant sandwiches for a week or so, but that's okay.  I just made myself laugh.

I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

    1. It's not so bad. At least the car money is there to use. That's the best part of it all. And you know, this is life.

In the end, the new water heater will cost us less money, monthly.

      And that is VERY good.

    1. That's true. And I really did make myself laugh when I wrote toothpaste and deodorant sandwiches.

      How bad could they taste?

  3. Same here. Mine broke down a couple of days ago. Cost me $1,000. Bye bye holiday.

  4. So sorry to hear about this. It always seems to be one thing or another, doesn't it? Can you can use the money the hot water saves you toward the car?

    1. That's what I was thinking, of seeing just how much we save and in my head, I'm thinking, okay, long run. Long run.

I went shopping today for paper plates and stuff. There were these so cute coffee cups with lids but $4.37 - I just couldn't do it. Cute, but in the end I went with plain white, no lids, a buck for a big bag.

Hope you are feeling better. Sorry that you are sick.

    1. That's it too. That's how I'm looking at it. At least it was there to use and we don't have to put this on a credit card.

      So that's a BIG plus.

    1. Thanks :-)

The stockpile does help. Back when I was really sick, we lived off the pile and it was nice. Now I built the pile back up and just in time.

Sounds silly but it's a nice thing not to worry about toothpaste, brushes and stuff like that.

  7. that sucks, I hate when appliances go bye-bye. My oven must of been made of nuclear-proof technology. It's older than I am.

  8. Laughing beats the heck out of getting upset over it. Can't change it; might as well go with it. Um, if you have to eat toothpaste, might I recommend something with a nice minty fresh bouquet, cut with a wee bit of garlic powder...

    Happy weekend!

  9. I feel for you, girl. A similar thing happened to me last year when both DH and GK had dental emergencies. Keeping my fingers crossed that nothing else happens!

    1. Very happy to have the money to pay for it. Such a good thing.

Thanks for the crossed fingers and ouch on the dental emergencies.

  10. Well, if you had gotten a steam-powered car, that would have solved both of your problems.

  12. Sorry to hear that girl, ours broke down last year and took an engineer two weeks to fix it!

  13. We, too, suffered last year from a boiler break down - so can empathise with your discomfort (both physical and financial). It's a good thing you had the car funds to draw upon ... and your freebie stock to keep you going! Hope it gets resolved soon. Take care!

    1. It is good to have the car fun, I agree. And I'm thankful we do. Guy is supposed to be here on Monday to get us a new one.

Sorry you guys had the same thing. I'm learning, so many have. Yikes.

  14. That is terrible, I bought a new house when we moved here so luckily we have had no major issues....yet. I see those and other major appliances at Lowes and wonder how folks purchase them sometimes without a credit card. Hopefully your couponing and money saving mentality gets your savings back up there quick and you can get Tim a sweet ride! ;)

    1. I don't know how people do it either. Yikes. And even the home improvement stuff people do. Double yikes.

Thanks, I see it as a challenge and I'm up for the couponing adventures.
