Barnes Cafe

Here's the picture of the cupcake I took at Barnes last night. Right before I gobbled it up.

And I heard a rumor that our Borders will reopen after they liquidate. No idea if that's true. Meanwhile, Barnes might not be our usual haunt, but if they keep selling cupcakes like these, I might be able to adjust.

Maybe.

  7. Wow that looks good! Was it just plain ol' chocolate? Or is there a hidden flavor somewhere in there?? Either way, now I'm hungry.

  8. I heart cupcakes. Why I like little cakes in individual cups more than large cakes makes no sense to me - but such is life.

  10. Hi Holly: They have some neat stuff in their bakery case. Looking forward to trying some new things.

Hey Kelly: Great to see you today.

Hi Angry Vegetarian: Plain ol' chocolate. Icing was good. Dry on the outsides but still tasty.

Hey Matt: Me too. I've never been a huge fan of cakes (unless it's carrot cake), but give me a little cup cake and I'm happy.

    Alex: I think you're right.

William: Too late William. I've already gobbled it up. Num num num.

  13. I personally like the vanilla cupcake at B&N. I save my calories for NaNoWriMo write-ins. If you do the math, I get four cupcakes year. Yummy! Unless Novemeber has five Mondays.

Of course, now I want one and its only March.

  14. Hi mshatch: Not too shabby. And they have tons of interesting things in their bakery case. Though I'll miss Borders, I'm thankful that we have Wegman's cafe and Barnes.

  15. Hey Pat: I'll give the vanilla a try. Might even keep track of how many I gobble. I think I saw cheese cake too. Oh, man. It's gonna be hard getting used to Barnes but I think I'm up for the challenge.

  16. I am betting that you could make a better one, but that looks yummy!

  17. I think Matt's stumbled on a fundamental law.

If we're talking big bookshops, the food and drink can really help in feeling at home. I'd be up for the challenge too..!

  21. I get that you two are Borders fans, but my first love is Barnes and Noble. Literally -- I met my wife there!

  22. I love bookstores and the actual, physical book. I hear eReaders are all the rage, but the cupcake/cafe/bookstore experience is where it's at.

  23. I seriously need to feed me some chocolate! That looks too yummy. :)

  24. Our Borders is staying open for now, but it needs to downsize and lose the non-book stuff that no one is interested in. I'm a big Borders fan.

  25. nice bacground to accompany the gorgeous cupcake!

  26. Thanks for the nice words Todd and thanks for noticing the background, Bartender. That was the table.

Very cool that you met your wife there, Professor. The reason we lean toward Borders is the cafe size and coupons.

Donna, you are lucky that your Borders is staying open. So glad for you. Do you have a favorite drink?

Donea Lee, Jess and Susan. Hope you girls got some chocolate. Do you have a favorite cafe dessert?

I can't get into the e-Readers either, Christian. I just like books. That said, I'm interested in a digital graphics tablet for drawing.

Porky: I'm ready for the cafe challenge. And to Magda, I hope you have a great weekend as well.

Thanks guys for stopping by. Always great to see you.

  28. Hello, chocolate, I love you :D

I hope your Borders does reopen. Ours is closing for good, which is sad.

  29. Good lord that looks yummy! And I definitely hope your Borders opens back up, too.

  30. Me too. Meanwhile we still have Wegmans cafe and that's a nice space. Though not a fan of the TVS they added. Why have television is a cafe? Eight of them, I believe.

Sorry yours is closing too, Julie.
