Brownies and Pork

I love this chocolate. I made brownies with it today. A friend at work gave me the idea to make them in mini muffin pans.

Num num num.

And here's the picture of the pork chop I cooked the other night.  I'm still learning meats and looking forward to eating my first piece of grilled chicken.

I never grilled meat before.  I hear it's nummy stuff.

  1. Never. Grilled. Meat.

I'm still trying to process that. Are you sure? Maybe you forgot you had. You know, like when you forget how to spell 'where' and you think you should spell it 'wear' but that doesn't seem right either but all you definitely know is that it shouldn't have an 'h' in it.

I mean, even I grill, and I couldn't cook my way out of a paper bag.

Oh, wait. I'm from Texas. Sorry. Cultural confusion there. I suppose it's okay for people outside of Texas not to have grilled meat before. I suppose.

  2. The only time to grill meat is on a barbecue and baste it liberally or a bit of help from George Foreman, that's a nice looking chop, never heard of the chocolate product before.

  3. I'm also surprised, but in a very good way..! Grilled can be drier so that's an extra factor to consider.

That choc blurb could be a description of you - only natural sweetness, "fine artisan" and "perfect for baking" - not baking in the 'Burbs sense of course, but the sense of being the go-to girl for perfect results.

  4. Hey Ark: No, not me, never. I was a veghead most of my life so I'm still learning how to cook and enjoy meats. What's your favorite on the grill?

Hi Lurker: I used barbecue sauce for the chop and put it in the broiler for ten minutes. Came out pretty good, some parts were super good. Do you have a favorite meat to barbecue?

Hello Porky: How about you? Do you have a favorite grilled meat? Being a long time veghead, I've only grilled potatoes, onions, cheese and butter, all wrapped in a foil pocket. They were gooood, too. Thank you for the nice words and the clarification about the 'Burbs. You all crack me up.

  6. Thanks iZombie: It's always good to have taste testers. Poor Tim went through a billion batches of my pizzelles before I got the formula the to taste like his Grams.

  7. I've never used that brand of chocolate. I'll look for it. Grilled chicken...so yummy. Lots of different ways to make it, depending on how you herb and spice it up.

  8. Carol: It's dark tasting and I love it. Back when the store carried it, I would eat their cocoa nibs. Loved those.

  9. My favorite thing on a grill is everything.

Actually we used to grill a number of vegetables including but not limited to peppers, corn on the cob, eggplant and (favorite, favorite!) portabello mushrooms! Woo hoo!

Is there some way to contact you directly lovely lady Whisk?

  11. There's something about that juxtaposition of chocolate and pork chop.... But I love both! Hubbie is on a no-sugar diet right now, and I'm traveling that boring road with him. At least I've lost a few pounds.

  12. @ Whisk - It sounds better than good! I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't really want to encourage the eating of the nice animals - I'll say only 'maybe'..! A mix of veg grilled with cheese on toast is a quick and easy snack. I'm a big fan of stewing at the moment and a good thick sauce.

  13. Love it! Good luck with your meaty experimentation. Achieving the desired coagulation of the protein in any meat is an art form and one that really separates good cooks from the mediocre or bad ones.

    Grill on!

  14. Hi Alien: I'm working on getting a Whisk email up for my blog site.

Magda: Σας ευχαριστώ. Thanks for coming by. Love your latest post.

MG Higgins: Is that only refined sugar? What's the dessert you both miss the most?

Porky: Loves stews and thick sauces. I make a killer veghead chili but next, I want to try my hand at meat chili. Just for fun.

William: Tim just stopped in for lunch and we had a nice quick meal together. Hope you had a yummy one too.

Christian: Desired coagulation is where I'm headed. It's a whole new world, cooking meats. Things I've never tried before. I'm enjoying it a great deal. Thanks for the good wishes. You know how I fancy those food experiments.

    To All: Happy Eating :-)

  15. Hey Ark: Forgot to tell you that I laughed out loud at the whole wear and where thing. Told Tim about it at lunch and he laughed. Good stuff.

  21. Hi Holly and Brad:
That's what I hear. Can't wait to play.

  22. @Whisk - Ahhhh. Yeah. I understand now. Veghead.

My favorite thing on the grill is mesquite. Not hard to come by round these parts.

    Oh . . wait . . . your meant meat. Antelope, quail, venison, buffalo, lamb . . .

Oh, wait, you probably meant 'normal' meat. Beef. Chicken. Salmon. Catfish. Shrimp. Crab. Crawdads. Um . . . do those count as normal? I'm not sure what normal is anymore. :)

  23. Hi Ark: Yeppers, once a veghead, now a meat eater. Round these them parts we have all kinds of meats. We have a local buffalo farm that I'm interesting in checking out, as well.

  25. One of my favorites on the grill: ancho chilie chicken: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Southwestern-Lime-Chicken-with-Ancho-Chili-Sauce-5496

Or... combine grilling meat *and* chocolate for a good chicken or pork mole.

  26. Happy Wednesday, Carol. Thanks for the drop-in.

Thanks, Risus. Going to check it out now. I swear that chocolate is really great. I'll have to try dipping chicken in it sometime. I dunno. But I did make bacon maple brown sugar biscuits the other day. Bacon kicked butt.
