For work tomorrow, we're all bringing food. It's Black Friday at the shop and that means crazy shoppers, big sales, and lots of food in the back room. I'm bringing cold chicken salad because it's easy to eat on a bun, and it's yummy.
For home, I roasted a second chicken for Tim, because as he explained to me, "you're not allowed to make them a chicken and not one for me."
Fair enough. After all, I won't let him watch Spartacus when I'm home, so fair is fair.
Along with 2 birds, I also made 16 bagels and 12 cupcakes (check out the photos below). And now, I really need to shower. After cooking all that stuff, I'm stinky. Which is more than you need to know about me.
Enjoy the rest of you day, and remember to always eat something yummy.
Bagel Topping: Simply Organic Garlic'n Herb and Pretzel Salt
Cupcakes: Scharffen Berger Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
Bird Seasoning: Spice Hunter Organic Poultry Seasoning
I'm so hungry now! Everything looks DELICIOUS!! Any chance you'll share your bagel recipe? Hope things aren't too hectic at the shop tomorrow:).
ReplyDeleteHi Maria: The recipe came from Ultimate Bread, by Eric Treuille and Ursula Ferrigno.
ReplyDeleteBest bread book. My copy is an old one but from what I understand, there's an updated version available for sale.
And if you get a chance, try it with Simply Organic Garlic'n Herb topping with real pretzel salt. Absolute heaven.
Enjoy.
Ivy you are cruel - I second your Tim's opinion - if you are making it for work you have to share with your viewing public too ;)
ReplyDeleteImpressed with the bagels. Most I've ever made for my work colleagues is assorted muffins (chocolate chip, choc and nut and mixed berries)
ReplyDeleteOkay, that chicken...I don't usually like the skin, but that makes me want to peel the skin off with all those delicious looking spices and shove it in my mouth. And bagels...well, I"m a New Yorker and I love me my bagels ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh, and SPARTACUS!!!!!!! Oh dear. LOVE ME SOME ANDY WHITFIELD!!! So bummed he'll only be in 2 episodes of next season, but I hope during his hiatus he can get 100% better for the third season which should be AWESOME. There just isn't another Spartacus!!
Hi Elaine - I'll teleport you some good eats, straight away.
ReplyDeleteHey Alan: The bagels and cupcakes were for home but the chicken salad and potato rolls were for work. Everyone bought food and it was SO YUMMY. We had TONS of food. Great Black Friday, at the shop.
Melanie: I often roast an entire chicken breast, no skin. Season the meat and it is wonderful. Same with thighs and I've even removed the skin for wings. Came out great.
I want bagels now. Good thing I have three dozen in my kitchen at the moment.
ReplyDeleteIf your everything bagels taste as good as they look (and I'm sure they do), I would eat an entire baker's dozen. And that is definitely not on my low carb diet. Sounds like a wonderful Black Friday feast!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delectable feast! Tim and your co-workers are fortunate indeed!
ReplyDeleteHi Christian: Everyone made such wonderful things and we all nibbled while we worked the crazy Black Friday Sales.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally starving now since it's so close to lunch time. The bagels look awesome as does the chicken.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Patti. They were good. I always make a double batch. They aren't as good frozen but we have a great bagel toaster. So I pre-slice them and into the freezer bagel drawer they go.
ReplyDeletethat looks yummy - do you boil the bagels before cooking?
ReplyDeleteHello Claudia. Wonderful to meet you. Thank you for joining. Do you have a blog that I could join, as well.
ReplyDeleteYes, I boil the bagels, after they rests.
Thank you for stopping by.
