Never ever had one before today. Thought I'd give it a go.
Only they slapped it together in a big rush, using out of season veg, a tasteless burger, and sweat-soaked bun.
This is not something I will order again. Nopers.
Besides, my home-ground chicken burgers are way better. Plus they don't give me a belly ache. And guess what tomorrow is? It's the day I get to go buy more chicken.
Good-bye poorly constructed Whopper with crappy veg. Hello homemade chicken burgers on fiber-rich buns.
Num, num, num.
Home cooked food is always better and I'm sure you make the best!
ReplyDeleteDamn, this makes me want a whopper. I don't even like them, so go figure.
ReplyDeleteAlex: Thanks for the nice words.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun for me to try something new and then go home and make it healthier.
And I could even see the Whopper being a good burger, if made well. This one though, sadly, was terrible.
Kelly Anne: Like I was telling Alex. I could see it being good if put together with better ingredients and not so half-assed.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmm a sweat soaked burger, sounds good!!
ReplyDeleteIt'd be tastier with potted meat food product: http://kidiots.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteIt's funny -- used to live off fast food in high school and college. Twenty years later it doesn't appeal to me at all. Mostly because it always seems to turn out the way you just described your whopper.
ReplyDeleteRay: Nothing like sweaty fast food.
ReplyDeleteKellyAnne: Ugh. My belly can't handle more meat today. Thanks for the link. Always neat to see what's out there.
Bard: I'm maxed out on trying stuff. Though sometimes it inspires me to make a better meal at home.
How goes you and Mrs Bard? Things here are good. Getting my first full weekend off in awhile.
Woohoo.
I grew up on a farm where not only were most of our vegetables and fruit homegrown but so was our meat. No fast food for me. I always order seafood when I eat out because I never had that on the farm.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'll ever eat a Whopper again...lol. I've really developed a taste for veggie burgers lately. Love them!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Whisk. What these people do to beef is a crime. The only thing I'll eat there is the chips/fries. Wait a minute, I do love the sausage, egg and cheese biscuit they have.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's sad. I think the Whopper -- in its Platonic ideal form anyway -- is a better burger than a Big Mac, because of the oft-bandied-about 'charbroiling'. But it sits around and it dries out, and then that subterranean white iceberg lettuce shows up. If it cost 75 cents, then I'd go along with it. But it's expensive and it's indigestible. Too bad.
ReplyDeleteI used to like the Whopper, back when it was made better. They've done something to it now.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I don't eat too many burgers anymore (too many calories), but a good one can be found at Buffalo Wild Wings. I like them, anyway.
I love me a double whopper, yum yum!
ReplyDeleteJust had a Whopper the other night, and it was pretty decent (of course, my home-made burgers are way better than any fast food fare, but I had 30 minutes before class and had to eat...)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I maybe be lucky in one respect. I've got an egg allergy, so I always special order mine with no mayo (or pickles cause I just don't like 'em). Always get one fresh, not one that's been sitting around. Doesn't guarantee quality, but increases the odds a bit!
My wife is always ill when she has Burger King, she is a McDonalds girl you see.
ReplyDeleteI like someone above, used to eat fast food but after 8 years on the road I would be happy never to eat another one. The kids like them that's the problem. They only get them for special treats and I tend to sit and watch.
Yep home made burgers if we can. Tonight is home made meatballs as a well done for my daughters good grades at school
Ian
yeah, even I can make a better burger than that :)
ReplyDeletebut where's the pic of yours?
I've never been a Whopper fan either. Your ground chicken burger sounds delightful.
ReplyDeleteI just had a Big Mac yesterday, for the first time in years. I was not impressed with it, either. I realize fast food workers are not the best employees, but it's like these guys didn't even care at all.
ReplyDeleteSusan: Now that's good livin'.
ReplyDeleteSavannah: Ever make your own veggie burgers? So easy, fun and you can make 'em with the best stuff from the garden.
Anne: Every now and again, I enjoy a McGriddle.
Endra: Speaking of charbroilingish things, I've still not tried meat on the grill yet. I'm excited to give that a go.
A friend of mine went to Mc's recently and asked for lettuce on her quarter pounder and they charged her for it. Lettuce? Gotta be frickin' kidding me.
Stacy: This was my first time. We have a Wild Wings near by, I'll have to hunt down a coupon and give it a go. Thanks.
Lord: Long, long, time ago when I ate McFish. Back when they had everything still wrapped and under lights, I would do the same thing. Only I'd order mine without sauce.
Our BK doesn't keep them under lights anymore either, but the burger still sucked.
Ian: I got sick twice there now as well. Congrats on your daughter making good grades at school and happy meatball night.
mshatch: I went with hamburger cartoon.
RaShelle: Always ground from home, not from the market. The turkey and chicken that they grind is terrible.
Dan: I tried one of those but there was hardly any meat inside. I don't know why it all has to be slapped together so so fast.
Lurker: How did I miss your comment? Anyway, I don't think my belly could handle a double. Oy.
ReplyDeleteIt's usually a 50/50 shot at fast food places. And you never know which 50 you'll get.
ReplyDeleteThere is no contest... Home-made burgers will always beat crappy fast-food junk.
ReplyDeleteAnd I say this as an incapable cook.
Southpaw: Very true.
ReplyDeleteBrendan: I'm going to try my hand at grilling burgers this year.
Just have to find a new grill for a good price.
Do you ever do any cooking? Or grilling?
My youngest used to love their chicken. I'm not a fan either and fortunately they changed their chicken recipe and he doesn't like it anymore either. If I win that MegaMillions jackpot I'll hire you as my personal chief at a hefty salary! =)
ReplyDeleteTodd: Sounds like a good gig and it pays way better than being a prep cook, pays.
ReplyDeleteTim put into the MegaMillion at his job today because he said if they all won, and he was the only one still left there, that that, would suck.
Tim tried a chicken sandwich at BK last week and returned it, twice because it wasn't good.
Their normal chicken sandwiches actually aren't bad if they don't screw them up. Tim is on the money, it would suck to see all your coworkers get rich and leave you hanging. =)
ReplyDeleteHomemade are always best and I never eat at any fastfood except for Burgerville (locally raised, organic beef)
ReplyDeleteI make super yummy beef patties, but never think to make burgers with them. Will have to give it a go. :)
ReplyDeleteFresh food is so much better and healthier. Have fun cooking!
ReplyDeleteTodd: I'm probably most picky about chicken, since that's the meat I've made the most since no longer being a VegHead.
ReplyDeleteIt would be Tim's luck to be the only one who didn't win.
Kim: Very nice. Have you ever bought half a cow?
Niki: I'd love to see that post. I have no doubts that when you cook, you are wicked good.
alexia: Again, great pictures you took. Well done.
ewww......I just can't eat at that place. Ever....there is one close to my house and when the wind blows wrong I get tha 'flame broiled' smell....turns the tummy I tell you!
ReplyDeleteI've never had one, but then I've not generally gone into Burger King.
ReplyDeleteThese days if I want a burger, I'll go into a proper restaurant rather then a fast food joint
I've had them before. At one point in my life, every time I ate at Burger King, I'd get a stomach ache. That's for people who normally eat GOOD food; the junk type/fast food makes us sick. LOL- a "sweat-soaked" bun. Ewwwww!
