27-Day Smack Down

Time for another challenge, as I'm fresh out and in the mood to jump into something new.  This time, it's all about facing my fears about exercise.  Some already know, I have a few spinal/neck issues, blah, blah blah.  Older readers may remember (or not), how much I loved to jog.  And while jogging currently remains off limits, walking isn't.

I've been scared to get back to it.   So for the last two weeks I've been walking five, ten and even fifteen minutes at a time.  Slowly rebuilding my confidence, rather than being afraid I'll hurt myself again.

But enough farting around.  It's time for a throw down. Or is it a smack down?  Either way, I challenged Tim to join me in a walking goal.  He picked 27 days in a row, and today we start.

I will not be afraid of that treadmill.

  1. You can do it. Take it easy and keep building your strength. And your confidence.

  2. Good for you! I can relate to this post waaay too much, Ivy. You know I love my yoga but it's been harder to do lately because of some health issues. I do what I can and pray it doesn't knock me on my rear for a few days! It's good to hear you're being gentle to yourself while you kick butt!!

    1. Yoga is great. Love that form of exercise. Sorry to hear it's been harder to do lately. I tell ya, this is why you never hear me complain about exercise, because on the days I can do it, I'm thankful.

  3. I walk all the time, never use cars nor buses, but I do hate it... if I could I'd glue myself to a flying little soccer and move like that :)

    2. I don't know... I was always a sloth type of coon :) Sweating, getting too hot.... maybe because I always walked in my life.... even to school which was at least 5km away... so I just grew tired of it

  5. Go for it! I love jogging and only wish the weather would break so I could go outside rather than on the treadmill.

    1. Do you have a nice safe area to jog in? We live in a rural area, no side walks and the main road we have outside our house is NOT safe.

That said though, I love our treadmill. It's a killer good machine built for jogging.

    1. 45 minutes is killer good. I did a thirty, watching Cupcake Wars. I don't think it's a great show, but I learn a few things here and there, so I like that.

Here's to us walking regularly again.

      Woohoo. Go us.

    1. I love walking, so I'm excited to get back to it on a more regular basis. Sorry to hear you have arthritis. Do you ever use foods to help reduce the inflammation?

    1. I gave myself the last two weeks as warmup practice. At first, I would not exercise unless Tim was home, just in case I feel or something.

But now I'm able to walk all by myself.

      Such a big girl.
