What do you mean why? Dogs lick their own bums, they carry bacteria and all kinds of little dangerous organisms on their body, paws, bum... and then they put those body parts on the pillow on which someone will put their mouth, face..... Just ewwww..... I'd never allow that, especially not with kids.
We have a queen bed but thankfully only a cat and sometimes the small dog join us. My black lab is older and struggles to get on the bed, even so if it is just one of in the bed, she will join that one person but she knows there is too little room for three of us together.
It's funny how they get so snuggly. Sorry your lab struggles. They make doggy steps.
Loved your pictures on G+. Nice to see someone else enjoying Christmas. Seemed like a lot of bloggers had the humbugs this year. Thankfully, not us, and not you guys either. Really fun photos.
We usually get a dog and a cat. Occasionally we get two cats. Every once and a while, the third (feral) cat lurks around at the end of the bed. When this happens, there is usually a fair amount of growling and hissing. Peace is restored when everyone but Felix (and us) leave the bed. Felix falls asleep when we go to bed and is in the same spot in the morning. I have never had another pet, dog or cat, do that.
Growling and hissing. Bug gets upset when Wiggy plots her lard butt in Bug's spot. Bug will whack Wiggy in the head the way a cat does to another cat but that doesn't move Wiggy.
They are funny to watch.
Then when that doesn't work, Bug keeps hitting Wiggy and cries to us.
Excellent, and so true!!! I remember waking up loads of times and I couldn't move my legs because my old dog Buddy had slept on my legs all night!! Damn dog!
That's the main reason the husband and I bought a KING-size bed. :D
ReplyDeleteBack when we bought our new bed, I'd wish we'd gone King.
DeleteCongrats on making your reading goals.
Yes, my dog growing up did that to me...
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of dog?
DeleteOh joy, our cats are kept downstairs for just this reason ;-)
ReplyDeleteIan
How many do you have?
Deleteeww, that one in which the dog sleeps on her pillow is yucky :(
ReplyDeleteWhy is it yucky to you?

DeleteWhen my dog was younger I'd let her on it every once in awhile. She just pick one spot and never move on her nap
ReplyDeleteWell, from what you've said about your dogs, they really aren't snuggle pets as much as they are lawn fixtures.
DeleteDoggies do tend to hog the bed don't they?
ReplyDeleteYeppers, little hogs. But so cute.
DeleteAwww...my Delilah is such a good girl, she just sleeps right on top my head or legs so as not to push me off the bed, lol.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and Happy Doggy Days Ivy - Best of everything to you, Tim and the pups!
Thanks, hope yours was fun as well. I loved the whole White Christmas this year. Very fun.
DeleteSo cute. You're going to need a bigger bed! :)
ReplyDeleteWe do, but we just got this one not long ago though, so we'll have to keep it.
DeleteHope you had a nice holiday. By the way, I want to live in that Victorian house. Sooo pretty.

Cheers and Happy 2014.
I can understand as we need sleep, but I don't think I could ban ours. Just don't have it in me.
ReplyDeleteTe deseo un buen año....Abrazos y Feliz Año Nuevo 2014, abrazos y abrazos.

ReplyDeleteHard to move when they are there. Sometimes I think the pets get the best sleep of all of us.
DeleteAnd that is why my dog doesn't sleep with me; he would totally take over the bed.
ReplyDeleteBut doesn't he cry to get on the bed? No, I understand though, some nights we don't get enough sleep.
DeleteLOL!
ReplyDeleteIt's a comic that many an relate.
DeleteI chuckled out loud at this!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteVery funny!
ReplyDeleteDogs rule... except when there's a cat in the house. Then cats rule.
Ha. Cats NEVER rule in this house.
