Woohoo, day 4. Yesterday, we hit Barnes and Wegmans. Lots of reading and writing at the cafe' and at Wegmans, I got new freezer-safe glass jars to replace ALLLLLLL the little plastic containers that I tossed, on Day 2.
I love being free of those containers because one, I stopped using them and two, I have a firm rule in my kitchen.
Use it or lose it.
I'm outside again. Sunny, muggy, windy and wonderful. That's all from me. Enjoy your day and eat yummy things.
PS: This Fun Fact, I do believe.
That's the rule in our house.
ReplyDeleteInteresting fun fact.
Very cool.
DeleteI do that too, problem for me is I put it aside for the garage sale and then don't hold the garage sale.
ReplyDeleteThen what happens to the stuff?
DeleteI like your kitchen rule we need to do that for my whole house, except my husband hates tossing things so it is not that easy. Neat fact.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes it hate it so?
DeleteMy brain ignores a lot of things, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteMine can too. But lately, I've been seeing my nose and I wondered? Where was it before?
DeleteIs Barnes the bookshop like Borders used to be? If so I envy you hugely as we lost all our Borders Bookshops several years ago. Nothing like books, magazines and coffee together,
ReplyDeleteYes, just like that. We used to hit Borders all the time, too. Sad that they went out of business.
DeleteDo you have local used bookshoppes near you?
Do you mean second hand bookshops? We do have those, not very many, but the charity shops have loads of second hand books, mostly in very good condition.
DeleteWe have a couple of real bookshops, which have cafes attached but very few magazines, not like Borders used to have. I hope these bookshops survive.

I call them used bookstores, but second-hand, works too. Both mean the same thing :-)
DeleteGood to hear that you've got a few places to pick up deals on books.
I think getting rid of all plastic and using all glass containers, especially with your food problems is the way to go. I use all as much glass as I can.
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
Hey Parsnip. I've always used primarily glass. I love that it goes in the freezer, oven and on the counter. Great stuff.
DeleteBut I still had some teeny tiny plastic that I stopped using ages ago. So I tossed the fuckers out, and got myself some fantastic new jars.
Heaven.
How goes the pups, today?
"Use it or lose it." Love it. A golden rule for me. Sounds like a great time. So happy you're enjoying this staycation.
ReplyDeleteWe really are. Bagels are in the oven, now.
DeleteAnd you just know that everyone just now looked down at the end of their nose to make sure.
ReplyDeleteThat's the best!
DeleteSounds as if your staycation is going well ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Super peaceful, yes.
Deletethe mind is powerful
ReplyDeleteSo true. Funny about your wife taking your pillow.
DeleteHi there, Pinocchio here :)
ReplyDeleteHa! Good one.
DeleteWHAT you tossed the plastic containers... It could have been a really nice prize for one of your question post... as long you had put a warning: "Use at own risk!" :))
ReplyDeleteThey were food grade but yeah, at your own risk, for sure.
