Kickin'it Old School

Yesterday we bought a new Speed Queen washer.  She arrives on Friday and her name is Wilma.  Once we get our ZERO financing paid off, we're headed back for the dryer.

Both units are old school.  We're talking REAL hot water, not a wussy blend.  Galvanized drum, and simple settings.

Meanwhile, I'm so excited about all this stuff I scored that I can't even sit long enough to write out the details.  The better I do at ZERO OOP transactions, the sooner we'll get this bill paid in full, and the sooner we'll go buy Betty.

And believe you me, I want that dryer.

Challenge accepted.

  1. Woozers on the goodies. We just bought a new dryer about a month ago. Didn't realize until the repairman told me the old one was approaching its 20th birthday.

    1. Back when things were built to last. Our old Whirlpool washers was a billion years old until it finally bit the big one. Good stuff.

How do you like your new dryer?

  2. My washer isn't all that fancy, either. I think the simplier ones last longer. It's my theory anyway! And I LOVE 0% financing. We get it every chance we can (in fact, that's what I have for my car!).

    1. My gosh, there were so many with all these fancy digital things and no real hot water. Just a wussy blend. Plus, my word, some of the washers were so flipping big, I seriously could not reach the bottom without hurting my neck and spine. No thanks. It's simple all the way.

  3. Wilma and Betty, LOL! You must have a large storage space in your house/garage to store all that loot, eh?

    1. Thanks. Me too. I was pooped last night but today I'm resting and getting ready to work the weekend on gutting the rest of my kitchen work.

      Happy Almost Weekend :-)

    1. Hey Dezzy. Speed Queen is the brand we went with. And OOP means out of pocket.

For those items no cash came out of pocket but instead, I paid with a combination of points, coupons, sales and promos. Or, zero OOP. It's a great way to shop.

That Palmolive is one of my favorites from their line, so it's a double treat to get it for free.

    2. bet it smells nice. I'm currently washing my dishes with a deep purple liquid with the scent of elderberries :)

    3. It does smell nice, not like flowers or that, but like something that's about to clean the crap out of something else.

I like this one and I like the Olay Dawn dish soap.

  6. Wilma and Betty...I love it! You do put a smile on my face :)

Wow, you scored BIG on these items. You should write a book about this talent of yours. I bet it'll sell lots of copies. People are always looking for ways to save money.

    1. Thanks Martha. I am in fact, in the midst of writing a book now about couponing. Started on that back when I left my day job. Needed to give myself something to focus on. So I've been following myself around, taking notes and building chapters.

See last two posts for more about that.

I'm waiting for my new dryer to arrive.

It's interesting that you sensed sadness in my photo. I was feeling sad when I made. But feeling happy chaps now!! :D xx

    1. So many people I read are getting or just got new washer and or dryers. What did you name yours?

That picture honestly made me feel sad. I am glad to hear you are happy chappy now.

  10. Yesterday we bought a new Speed Queen washer. She arrives on Friday and her name is Wilma.

Congrats! Of course, with that name, I'm picturing a machine made of stone with a small creature inside running round and round to make the laundry spin, and a mammoth trunk as a water feed.

    1. Just so happens that I found a picture like that for this post but it was too small. Might use it later when she arrives.
