Three days with the new air fryer oven lid. There are pros and cons to an air fryer lid and I had a few issues with the latch. Thought I'd have to return it and then last night and my brain came up with a solution. So far, it's working. I love this new oven toy. Even turns the correct size skillet into a mini oven.
Pretty freakin' cool.
In other news, the office and kitchen are in moving-mode. To film in the kitchen, a longer table might help so it's table swap time. Smaller table goes in the work room, longer workbench goes in the kitchen.
As I get back into making videos I'm also thinking about what kind of book I want to put the time into and how videos tie into the book. Right now I'm leaning into a mix of bakes and non-bakes. I've also started and stopped this project many times over the years. Talking myself out of it, then back in and back out again. This time I don't want to talk myself out of writing a proper book with my food photography. I can see and feel the book in my hands.
No talking myself out of it.
In other, other news I made a kick-butt good lunch with the lid. See the cartoon of me below. Food was killer good. Ate a giant bowl of it. Delightful. Up next I'm tossing popovers in the oven for Smoochie Faee and then right back to the table swap. If just the tables get moved today, that's a great start for tomorrow.
And that my Boogerbutts is all that's fit to print. Chat again soon.

Cute drawing and yummy lunch
ReplyDeleteSooooo tasty. Can't wait to make it again for breakfast tomorrow.
DeleteI like your drawing too! That lunch sounds fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I spelled cubed wrong. I'll fix that another day. Cheers!
DeleteYour cartoon looks like a very happy whisk:) And the combo sounds delish.
ReplyDeleteI am one happy whisk for sure. This lid has some cons. The non-toxic air frying though more than makes up for the cons. Very, very fun oven lid to play with.
DeleteLove your drawing ...
ReplyDeleteLunch sounds good.
All the best Jan
Thanks, Jan!
DeleteSounds like a its taking a lot to get things set up. Your meal sounds delicious too. Hope your week is going well. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteHey Erika! For a long time I had allll of the filming gear out of the kitchen. Putting it back takes time. The longer table, I just need the extra work space for the gear. Not a bad thing, just after two days of working in the space, it was time to reset the space, properly.
DeleteYour meal sounds so good! Glad that air fryer lid is working for you. Good luck with all the filming stuff!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mari. It feels nice to have the tables moved. Wishing you a good evening.
DeleteI do love a nice warm popover yummm. Good luck with your table swap.
ReplyDeleteCathy
They are sooo good warm. I agree. Thanks, Cathy.
DeleteSo happy you got the lid to work and didn't need to return it.. I had been thinking about my book for years before I finally sat down and wrote it. I started out with a broader amount of recipes and then narrowed it down to soups!! It was a long project - but you will find the time when you are ready. Good luck -
ReplyDeleteThanks. I've started it and now to just stick with it. I love that you went with soups. They are sooooo tasty. It is a long project, I agree. I know how much time I already put in to writing bakes. Stacks and stacks of pages. Now to gather them proper like and make them readable for others. Thank you for your works and wisdom.
DeleteSlasa and cilantro? No thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it though, love the drawing.
ReplyDeleteThat's understandable. Have you read about the cilantro mutation? Thank you about the drawing.
DeleteDUH! "Salsa"
ReplyDeletelol. I get it. My first cartoon I wrote cubbed in the caption instead of cubed.
DeleteGlad the lid worked out! Enjoy the rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteThank you. A little wonky in the handle though I fixed that for now. I'd like to keep this rather than return it. Happy rest of the week to you!
DeleteI have never heard of an air fryer lid. I looked it up and still don’t get it! 🤔 I don’t have an air fryer, so maybe that’s why.
ReplyDeleteWell it all sounds mighty interesting and exciting once you work out all the kinks.
I'll post with images soon. It's a little lid that has a heating element and a fan. Once that lid goes on the right size pot, it creates a fan oven. What's nice is it works on three different things so far that I have tried. And such a small footprint. Fun toy.
DeleteSo even if the book doesn't happen right away you should still keep good notes for when it does.
ReplyDeleteI have piles and piles of notes. OMG. I did though also start a new tracking thing to include video. In the past, I didn't take good notes on those.
DeleteNow I want to know what the cons of it are! But it looks like you are really getting used to it. And the tables are one positive step toward the book!
ReplyDeleteOne of the cons for folks might be that it's only a lid that holds the fan and heating element. I need to have something to put that lid on and thankfully, three things I own so far work well. There's no basket to shake, which could be a con for some. And there's no non-stick coating, which for me is the main reason I wanted this. Could be a con for some. Those are the main cons I see right now for folks who use/love traditional air fryers.
DeleteAll sounds good to me apart from the Cilantro or Coriander as it's called in the UK. It tastes like soap to me.
ReplyDeleteHey Ray. I used to grow cilantro and for my house we called the greens cilantro and the dried seeds (so yummy), were called coriander. I've heard that folks find it tastes like soap. There's a cilantro/coriander mutation thing going on with that. It's a hot button. Some love it. Some cannot stand it.
DeleteGlad the lid is working. Now, get working on that book!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alex. Already on it. Now for me to stick with it. That's the real trick.
Deleteyummmm I love sweet taters and hiding the black beans is a good idea.. your dress is so cute today, I hope you were wearing it while putting pop overs in for smoochie face... do not give up, the book needs to be done... get going on the new longer table
ReplyDeleteI love both too. So good. I never met a potato or bean that I didn't like. So yum. The longer table is working really, really well. It's lower though so time will tell if it hurts my back. Fingers crossed it doesn't.
DeleteLove the drawing. Glad you were able to figure out the air fryer lid.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I can't stop air frying with it!
DeleteYay you and I could love that lunch too. Happy hearts day to you both!
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend away. Hope you have a good room and fun.
DeleteGlad the new air fryer lid is doing its job!
ReplyDeleteReally, really is. Big sorrys and huggs for the friend you lost. So sorry to read that.
DeleteSuch a cute drawing. I'm glad you were able to work with the air fryer lid.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lori!
DeleteYou are busy! I seems this time you will get the book done. I can't eat cilantro, other than that, lunch sounds good.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!! Thanks for the kind comment.
DeleteMoving tables around seems a good idea if it make things easier to photograph in the kitchen. That souds like a yummy air fryer lunch you made. Really hoping your book project gets off the ground this time and in to printable loveliness.
ReplyDeleteIt's working well. I have enough room to shoot video with a C-Stand overhead to catch the footage. Still shots are done in the work room but being able to grab a few quick photos in the kitchen works too. Thanks. This week is Waffle Week so it'll be all about waffle writing, video and still shots. Thanks for the comment and I hope you're having a yummy week.
