Hot dog.
As for the lid, this time I went with a different brand and a store with a door. That way if the lid sucks, it's a short trip and an easy return. The broken lid came from Amazon and I tell you, I shop there less and less these days. I find too many issues with their third party vendors and also with the Amazon warehouse itself.
The good news is, I get to vote with my dollar and that dollar opted for a store with a door that also delivers. Just gotta wait until Monday to play with the new lid.
Air fryer lids house both the fan and the heating element in the lid. That little lid sits on top of certain sized pots, pans and my instapot. I've had a handful of air fryers and no longer want the toxic coatings. I'm hoping this new lid works well and reduces toxic tools in the kitchen.
I'm cautiously optimistic.
In other news, last Sunday I ended up doing all of the things and it was fun. Scored yarn on discount and a new Snoopy mug for Smoochie Face. Then back to watch the rest of David in the Kitchen on YouTube. Which rewinds to the last 12 hours, making it easy to catch the entire show.
Was a good day.
Today, I've got bagel dough fermented in the fridge. Last weekend I made pretzel bagels, everything and sesame. Today I'm making more bagels. I love that the dough is split and there's always something fermenting in the fridge, ready to use.
Delightful.
Friday Question: What's your fave kind of bagel? And what do you like to put on them? Right now my fave is pretzel bagels, nothing on them. Though before that I dug just plain and before that, everything. Oh and onion. I also like cinnamon raisin. Really, I don't know if I ever meet a bagel topping I didn't enjoy. Right now though, I'm groovin' on pretzel bagels.
So yummy!!!
Friday Question: If you could have any bagel appear before you right now, what kind would it be? GF? Low-carb? Regular? How about cauliflower bagels?
I like my bagels PLAIN or Cinnamon and Raisin, and nothing but butter or cream cheese or make it with catsup and seriously sharp cheese for a pizza bagel. pizza sauce is good if i have it. yay for the new lid... i keep away from cooking as much as i can so no need for any of your gadgets.. you go girl.. keep us posted. PS i don't have a pot a lide would fit on they are all MY MOTHERS from 1950's
ReplyDeleteI am the opposite for sure. I'm ALWAYS in the kitchen. I have a skillet that's around 100 years old or so and the last air fryer lid fit. I'm hoping the new one does too. Old pots and skillets work. It doesn't have to be a modern pan. These air fryer lids are great tools when they work. They are little fan ovens on the go. Can't wait to play. Fingers crossed. Pizza bagel sounds GREAT!
DeleteI like "everything" bagels a lot with butter and/or cream cheese
ReplyDeleteClassic combo. Cool beaners.
DeleteI like that phrase "store with a door" although it took me a minute to figure out what you meant! I never EVER order anything from a third party seller on Amazon. Too iffy, dangerous, and usually over-priced. As for bagels, my faves are Everything (for cream cheese or other savoury filling) and Cinnamon Raisin (for just plain butter at breakfast).
ReplyDeleteYou're right. For sure. This is the second third party vendor where it needed to be returned to Amazon. And another that was from the warehouse damaged. That company though, replaced the four kinds of peppercorns. Very nice they were. The rest, no thanks!
DeleteIt sounds like you've been busy! I like regular bagels with strawberry cream cheese on it. Sounds good right now!
ReplyDeleteHi Mari! Hubby loves strawberry on his too!
DeleteI like a plain bagel with cream cheese and with cream cheese and lox.
ReplyDeleteVery good combo.
DeleteNever had a cauliflower bagel.
ReplyDeleteI've not had them either. Seen them, haven't tried one.
DeleteMy favorite and only choice is a gluten-free bagel. I get them frozen from Canada. They come plain and pumpernickel . I like avocado and tomato on my bagel!
ReplyDeleteWhat brand? Aldi I sell GF bread but most of it sucks (IMO). Have you tried making your own yet?
DeleteSorry the first lid was broken. Hope the second one is good to go and you can hit the ground running on Monday.
ReplyDeleteLove bagels! Favorite is Asiago cheese.
Thanks, Alex. Me too. Didn't think I wanted to go back to video but yeppes, for now, I do. Happy Weekend. Asiago, we had one place here that used to make those. Very popular!
Delete""A store with a door". What a great description of a brick-and-mortar vendor! I've never met a bagel I didn't like, and my favorite depends on the time of day and if I'm craving sweet or savory.
ReplyDeleteI get that. Same for me it depends. Right now I'm all about the pretzel bagel. Store with a door is the way I like to go when possible. I still had to order it because they didn't have it in-store, however return to the store is easy as pie.
Deletegoodness in every word of this post. I would go for a regular bagel or cinnamon raisin...with a with a smear of cream cheese and a touch of strawberry jelly. Oh the goodness of this. You have really been busy.
ReplyDeleteI do love a good cinnamon raisin. Yum.
DeleteLove lots of bagels, but probably everything or jalapeno cheese with cream cheese. I ordered the lid you've mentioned but decided against it once I saw it. Found an air fryer at the thrift store for $13.50 that looked like it had never been used. Love it. Amazon still sells it for around $100! Good luck with your lid for the IP!
ReplyDeleteGlad you found a new one at the thrift store. I've moved away from those kinds due to toxic chemicals. I didn't get the one that instapot makes. Went with a different company. I'm cautiously optimistic. What I love about mine is it can sit on my cast iron skillet. Can't wait to play!
DeleteSesame or everything would be my choice. And only REAL butter, and lots of it:). Looking forward to learning about this lid. I invested in an air fryer a few months ago and like it for a few things, but haven't tried a lot yet.
ReplyDeleteDo you like roasted beets or roasted red peppers? Both come out excellent in the air fryer. For the roasted peppers, they go in plain and whole for thirty minutes. Gives them a chance to get good and blackened. Turn part way through or toward the end if needed. Then those peppers go into a heat-proof glass bowl with a lid. Once cooled, remove the black skins, the seeds and stem. Then pull apart the peppers, add maple syrup and apple cider vinegar, into a Mason jar and boom! You got yourself air fry roasted peppers in the fridge and they are soooooooo good.
DeleteI always try to shop at "a store with a door" ... love your terminology for this :)
ReplyDeleteI don't very often eat bagels, but how about these low carb ones made with almond flour...
https://thelowcarbdiabetic.blogspot.com/2019/08/bagels-these-are-keto-low-carb-their.html
Wishing you a good weekend.
All the best Jan
I love using almonds in baking but no cow products or cow by-products (aka dairy), allowed in my food. That said, I enjoy almond flour and almond meal in bakes. It's a fun flour to play with. Thanks, Jan.
DeleteI'm not a huge bagel fan but if I had to choose one it would be cinnamon.
ReplyDeleteCinnamon is so yum. Do you like cinnamon raisin bread?
DeleteA plain gluten free bagel with peanut butter and jam, please. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love jam. What kind do you like? Tim is into strawberry and I love raspberry.
DeleteI'm not a fan of Bagels, I tried one once and that was enough. Years ago, so I don't remember what flavour it was.
ReplyDeleteI think that makes you the second person who doesn't fancy bagels. When I moved here, the bagels sucked ass. So I fixed that by making my own. Soooo good fresh from the oven. Have a groovy weekend and thanks for stopping in.
DeleteMy dad ate Lenders frozen at home and they sucked, especially cutting my hand trying to slice one to toast, then I busted a tooth and gave up on bagels.
ReplyDeleteLenders, I recall those. They are not good. Though back in the day, I feel they were better. Now, little frozen pucks. Sorry you broke your tooth. Been there with a Blueberry Almond Kind Bar. My tooth was weak and the bar wasn't.
DeleteSounds like a good day! If I had a bagel in front of me right now, I think I'd want an asiago cheese one. Although for breakfast, sesame is good too!
ReplyDeleteNot a bad day at that. Sesame is fun! Asiago Cheese, also very popular. Thanks, Jeanie!
DeleteMy Ninja 14 in 1 has the air fryer option so I use it. I LOVE all homemade or properly made bagels. In Florida we had a Bakin Bagels and they were delicious. Store bought are out for me. Cream cheese and pepper jelly are my go-to toppings on most bagels. Cinnamon raisin with good butter is awesome too. Last time I made them I made a few plain with a slice of asiago cheese on top and they were delicious. Have fun playing in your kitchen. I'm doing the same tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThat's it right there. Proper bagel. Hit the nail on the head. 100 percent. Yes.
DeleteA good friend gave me pepper jam once and I was like what in the good heaven is this delight.
Have a great time playing in your kitchen. It really is a treat to be in that space. Thanks, Lori! Happy Weekend.
OOO bagels. I've made homemade bagels before, and they are really tasty. Have fun in the kitchen. It sounds like fun! And happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erika! It is fun to play in the kitchen for sure. Very cool that you made bagels before as well. So fun!
DeleteI don't think I have had many bagels but I suspect homemade ones are delicious just warmed and fresh.
ReplyDeleteThat's it for me, those fresh ones are just so darn tasty.
