Drumroll Please ...

Helllllooooo Boogerbutts!

Remember Friday's post with the new photography setup? Well, that quickly changed because the floor heat vent and table were in the way of each other. Shaking the table. Blurring photos.

Can't have that!

So I fixed it. Check out my new area in the video below. Shot Friday. Then today (Sunday night as I write this), I went to DG (Dollar General), and got black out curtains (see below).

Black out curtains should block the sun and make it easier to shoot with artificial light any time of day. I also got a black out curtain for the doorway. 30 bucks total. Think it should work.

Fingers crossed.

Also, I can't believe that I get to shoot pictures here. The reno, the mess, the reno, the mess, the mess, the mess. All worth it.

All worth it.

Lastly, remember the table I build from scratch. Well ... the homemade stain and the store-bought poly don't like each other. Tonight, I sanded it back a bit and used another top coat I have on hand. Two coats added three hours apart. Drying now. Add another coat in the morning.

Toes crossed.

And now ... to show you the set up by the window for natural light and then the setup for light bulb light. Hopefully the native video plays well. It's playing for me now, wouldn't last week.

With that, it's time for me to crawl into the coffin and catch some zzzz's. Come morning, I make more clusters with chocolate, cashew and raisins and then, drumroll please ...

... shoot them in the ....

  1. Awesome! Where did you buy the light and umbrella? Did you buy the white sheet and the stand separately? I am thinking to buy one myself..

    1. Hi Angie! Umbrellas were a gift, I think they got them on Amazon. The white fabric is a flour sack from Target be I didn't want to buy a proper Scrim Jim. In the picture that's a C-Stand with extended arm and in the video, that's a boom mic stand.

My C-stand is a heavy duty with boom arm. I'm trying to find the brand that I got and don't see it in orders. I thought this one I got at Amazon. Now I'm not sure. Mine came with two grip heads. I also have a soft box (not shown in today's post), and a few other goodies. Really fun.

B&H Photo and Adorama are places that carry neat stuff with good deals from time to time. I like buying from them more than on Amazon. Unless on Amazon the seller themselves are sending to me. I also find deals on eBay.

Please let me know if you have any more questions. Happy to help.

    1. White ones would have bee good, I thought about that when I got home. Or gray. I'm amazed though, this room fees warmer. Top just kept lifting, the stain. If this doesn't work I'll sand it back to the bone and then use TimberSoy instead of homemade. Happy Monday!

  11. The blackout curtains are a good idea, you might find they keep the room a little cooler in summer too as they cut the sun out.
