Bug Hunting

This is Miss Bug. Within the last six months she fell and badly hurt her leg so I carried her up and down stairs until she healed. Not long after that, she got into a big container of organic raisins, plus part of the second container and spent an emergency night at the vets as they thankfully, got the raisins out before she absorbed them.

Best vet EVER!

And if that wasn't enough to rock Bug's world, shortly after that, she got stung by a bee and had an allergic reaction, foaming, swelling and off to the vets we went. No overnight stay, they gave her meds that calmed things down quickly.

Again, best vet, EVER!

So that's our Bug. Half shepherd, half beagle and all trouble.

In other news, the couch we had in the office, that moved into the snug is too low to the ground. It's always been. So I flipped that baby over, make-shifted a platform and legs with what I had on hand. The goal was the raise the couch without a trip to The Home Depot.

Eventually, I'll build a better couch, this one will hold us for now. Building our own couch, absolutely on my Builder's Bucket List.

I love using only what I have on hand. No new money spent. Couch higher. Smoochie Face's knees no longer hurt when he sits here. Win, win.

And that my Boogerbutts is all that's fit to print.

Talk again soon. Huggs & Bugs, Me.

  2. All trouble ;-)
So long ago I built something!
The board you metioned I did in 1994 - buahhhhh.
    It´s still here.
I once had a fire-truck as bed. Would love to build that again (but for whom).

  7. Bug is Beautiful! Wish I could hug her, she has the look of a big dog but can be carried upstairs by her mom... my kind of dog. sorry about the vet visits and happy to hear you have a great one. I wish I was handy, of course now to old to be, but never was. I always yelled for daddy or hubby to do what my mind came up with. this is truly a creative way to raise the sofa. do you have any ideas how to fill one seat on a 3 person sofa that the memory foam has gone flat? where bob has been sitting since 2005

    1. She's over fourty pounds and did a great job being carried. We are very happy with the new vet. That's who saw her the last two times. They're excellent! You're not too old to be handy. No, no, no. Regarding the one seat. Is that a single seat with a zipper in back? If so, the craft stores sell medium and high density foam. Either cut to size you want there or already sized and in the package. Also, there are a few USA places online that sell foam pieces as well, by thickness and size. If there's a zipper on that seat, replacing it may do the trick. If I can be of any help just let me know here or on email. Happy to help.

  24. Hi Ivy! Thank you for visiting me, especially when you have somany comments! Your header is so adorable! And Miss Bug looks so sweet and innocent. Who knew! She is a very lucky lady. She must have as many lives as a cat. Goodness, you are a carpenter! Where did you get such skills!

    1. Hi Ginny! I LOVED that gnome with the globe. Be still, my heart! Bug is a lucky lady for sure. The lives of a cat, it feels like. The building is something I took up after we decluttered in 2016 - that following spring, tools entered and I never looked back. Both my gramps built stuff, it just took me longer to get the bug and now, I want to build a bed and a couch next. Thanks for stopping in. Loved your decorations and again, that globe gnome. I just adore him!

  25. Hi, Ivy! Your Bugs is so cute. What a relief it must be to have a great vet. I have a niece in Prince Edward Island, Canada who is about to graduate from vet school. We're all so proud of her. Nice job on raising your couch. I'm not very handy with tools, but I'm pretty good at solving problems or crafting a tool for an odd purpose. If I could go back and do it again, I'd learn woodworking! Enjoy the week before Christmas. Have lots of fun!

Crafting a tool for an odd purpose. I love the way you said that. So true. Happy Christmas! PS: Why is it too late to start word working? I bet you'd be AMAZING at it.

  27. Gosh Miss Bug is a walking disaster by the sound of it but I guess you forgive her for everything as she is so adorable. She has those big brown eyes that just melt you. So darned cute! Give her a cuddle from me.
I am impressed with your wood working skills - I used to wield a pretty good paint brush and did all the decorating at home (and at my sons) but now its time to sit and relax - and pay someone to do the jobs!!

Do you ever do some painting still? I can see hiring for jobs. We just hired someone to delivery, take away and install the new dryer for tomorrow. I totally get that!
