Dig this Boogerbutts. 44 bucks on the dot for the lot at ALDI. Tim's cheeses are a buck fifty each. My red, orange and yellow peppers were less than both his cheeses at $2.55 for all three beauties. The coconut milk and tinned tomatoes (each $1.49), are both new to me. Turned the toms into a chunky salsa and the coconut milk into non-dairy ice cream AND homemade salted caramel.
My goodness I love me some ALDI deals.
Though ... for the coconut milk, my location charged me tax and then when asked about it, they kindly removed the tax. Not sure what that's about. Upon first opening, I did not love the coconut milk though it served well in homemade non-dairy ice cream AND homemade salted caramel.
For $1.49 a tin, I'll rebuy. There's just so many things to make with coconut milk. Truly endless.
The pumpkin rang in higher at $1.79 and I'm okay with that (for now). Made two non-dairy, egg-free pumpkin pies recently and once I added the other pie ingredients and a homemade crust, we enjoyed the bake. That said, if the pumpkin goes over 2 bucks, I likely won't rebuy. It's good. Just not over 2 bucks good. Same goes for the coconut milk.
In other news, here's the back deck in progress. Saying goodbye to the Annie Sloan purple that I made from her other paints. Lemme tell ya' it was really, really hard to get off the spindles. Nearly there.
I'm like, this close. This close I say, this close.
With the on and off rain all week, staining will wait. Pictures to come of the completed project.
In other, other news Blogger still isn't populating blog posts as they publish in my reader and a few of you had new posts published today that didn't show on my blog roll page either. Weird Blogger thing. Honestly though, I'm just happy Blogger is still up and running. Half broken and I'll take it.
And that my lovely Boogerbutts is that that's fit to print. Thanks for reading and I'll catch you on the flipside. Or is it flip side? Either way. Chat again soon.

Dear Ivy, I had just made a lovely, long comment on this post only to receive an "internal error" that it could not be sent. And if that isn't bad enough, this post completely disappeared...and has reappeared, testing to see if I can comment.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda! Very sorry, yes that happens to me as well. One blog in particular jumps and when it does, also eats the comment. So weird. Thanks for trying again.
DeleteLet's try this again, shall we? Grrrrrr....Yes, Blogger has had the news reader issues for weeks now! Sometimes posts show up, sometimes not, and if and when they do, they don't appear on time, and not on all of our Blogger followers news readers.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely. We don't we Aldi's here in Montreal. It sounds like you got some pretty good deals, dear friend. I am very happy for you, Ivy!
Well, my long comment has been lost somewhere and I am trying to recall everything I said!
Yes, thankfully Blogger is free! And I am grateful that my readers and friends know that even if my posts don't appear in their news reader, to come directly to my blog on Mondays and Thursdays, which are the days I post!
I am very happy to see your post, dear Ivy!
Yes. And I notice that sometimes if I go back into the post, make it a draft, then publish again, that sometimes that helps. Glad you found a posting schedule that works well for you. That's very cool. Happy Weekend!
DeletePS: Wonder why no ALDI there? Funny thing. my ALDI location sells a good bit of Canada products. Do you have a discount store in your area that's similar to ALDI?
I love Aldi, and you made some really smart deals! The deck looks like a hard project!
ReplyDeleteThanks about the deck. ALDI rocks! Did you get blackberries on sale this week? I just ate a whole pack. Super yummy. What are some of the ALDI items you fancy?
DeleteI like Aldi too, I buy a lot of veg from there and a lot of bottled waters. They sometimes have good deals on vegan stuff, which is nice. Lovely photos. The sun through the trees is fab :-D
ReplyDeleteHi Ananka! love the veg and fruit from ALDI. Just ate a whole pack of black berries. Our location used to carry really nice vegan cheese and even a vegan cream cheese. Also the vegan not dogs. Wish they'd bring back the not dogs. What kinda vegan goodies did your location have?
DeleteYou have such a great view there.
ReplyDeleteMy wife loves Aldi. She won't do coconut milk due to the high fat, but she loves their coconut water. Adds a nice touch to smoothies.
Thanks Alex! We love it. Not our land though. Wish it was. So pretty. Coconut water sounds like a good add for smoothies. Thanks for the idea!
DeleteI haven't been to Aldi's in a long time. I used to shop there all the time when my kids were young. Now it's just too far of a drive.
ReplyDeleteThat's understandable, Ann. A store too far away does challenge things. Happy Birthday to your daughter! Happy weekend, too.
DeleteSeems you did well at Aldi. We don't have one here at all in Tasmania, though I've been to an Aldi when travelling and visited a shop to see what all the hype was, but I wasn't that impressed and I some how don't think I would shop there if we did have one.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are really lovely with a nice view and a beaut deck.
Take care.
Hi Margaret. That's unfortunate that you ran into a bad ALDI. Our location is clean and very, very good. The returns are a breeze as well. Very good. Though for a brief time many years ago, We had a terrible manager. This was a long time ago. I stopped going and didn't return until that manager left. Thankfully, it's wonderful now. Sorry you ran into a bad one.
DeleteWe're massive fans of Aldi, LIDL, and B&M here. I love how you can find food brands you'd never have known about that are as good, if not better, than the more 'mainstream' brands.
ReplyDeleteHey Tim! We were to get a close by LIDL only not sure what happened. I was excited to go in and check them out. What's B&M like? Is that a discount store as well? I love a good discount store.
DeleteB&M is great - not only does it stock affordable food, but toys as well... particularly action figures, which is a delight for an aged kid like me (and why Rachel tries to keep me away from there!). For a while it was the exclusive high street vendor for Doctor Who action figures, a bizarre business decision but made hunting down 'rare' figures that extra bit of fun.
DeleteThat's very cool. Did they sell weeping angels? I always thought it'd be fun to have a life-size one in the garden. B&M sounds like a super duper fun store. I'd shop there. Thanks for explaining what it was.
DeleteI mostly goes to Lidl and get sometimes food from “to good to go” non waste food at very low price. Your deck is already very nice! Love the last picture.
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine! Very cool. I always wanted to go to a LIDL. Awhile back we were supposed to get one. Don't know what happened. It never showed up. I was bummed.
DeleteWe don't have Aldi in Canada or Trader Joe's
ReplyDeleteHey Christine! I've heard that which is funny because for my ALDI location we get a good number of items made in Canada including lots of dried beans.
DeleteI've never shopped at Aldi's but after reading your post, I think I will give it a try. You made some good things and of course, these are always better when you know you have shopped well for the ingredients. Love the deck!!! Looks like a fabulous place to sit and enjoy life..
ReplyDeleteHey Shug. It's a discount store and not fancy and that's what I love about the place. Small too. We love it though. Not a lot of variety but that helps keep the prices lower and gets the shopping done quicker. Instead of 15 kinds of one item, they have far less. Sometimes only one of that kind of item. Sometimes more. Excited to see what you think of the deals. We are lucky in that our produce section is very, very nice.
DeleteCheers, boogie boogie and happy weekend.
That's a whole lot of food for $44. The price of the peppers is really good. I saw them in the market at that price for 1 recently. OUCH! And your sun in the trees and back deck views are lovely. That deck looks fantastic-I like how it gets some shade, Have a super rest of your week.
ReplyDeleteHi Erika. Just came from your page with the flowers and the bees. Both very, very cool stuff.
DeleteThe peppers are less this week at $2.29 for three. Great deal. Do you ever make roasted peppers? I like to do that as one of the ways to extend the life and also chopped frozen ones. Thanks about the deck. Out here now reading a few blogs. Still too wet from the rain to do any staining. Maybe this weekend. We'll see. Wishing you a fun day ahead. Cheers and boogie boogie.
My son loves Aldi. He works in another supermarket but still shops at Aldi! I always have canned tomatoes available, useful for all kinds of dishes especially when fresh tomatoes are out of season.
ReplyDeleteHelllooooo Boud! I agree. Great thing to have on hand when in-season toms are not. Or, if they for me are too expensive. The salsa I mean, so good with fresh tomatoes however the can and this new to me brand, worked really, really well. Love that your son works for a different supermarket but still shops ALDI. Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
DeleteWe have Aldi here in the UK, they're great and are taking over a bigger and bigger share of the market, overtaking some of the big boys like Tesco and Asda. Of course no extra tax over here, I dunno how you cope with that in the States. You must have to carry a calculator around with you all the time?
ReplyDeleteI love that your ALDI is taking over Tesco and Asda. My bad in explaining. The groceries aren't taxed where I live, my town. The coconut milk never should have been either so the worker removed that. Was some weird thing. Not sure if the item was coded wrong in the system or not.
DeleteAnd Bloggers getting on my t*ts keep playing up all the time. I posted yesterday morning and its still not showing on my blogroll! grrr!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's just nuts Blogger. Not sure what is going on with them. Though I'm sticking with Blogger and happy to be here.
DeleteAldi is great. You can get so many deals so much cheaper than regular grocery outlets. Love getting the cheeses.
ReplyDeleteI have some problems with blogs not updating on my blogger list as well. Not sure what is going on - I guess we just all need to keep checking on our favorites.
Have a beautiful day!
Hey Cheryl. Hubby loves the cow cheese too. He uses it for lunches and then for homemade weekend pizza. Really can't beat the deals. Wishing you a wonderful and yummy weekend.
DeleteThat's a great deal at Aldis! We have one but I haven't been in ages...
ReplyDeleteLOVE the header photo! Beautiful!!
hugs
Donna
Hi Donna. Love me some ALDI. The produce at my location rocks. Thank you on the banner too!
DeleteI'm having some similar issues with Blogger. I hope this gets resolved!
ReplyDeleteYou did good at Aldi's. I find some great bargains there too!
PS - I love, love, love that last photo!
Hey Mari. Happy Blogger Break to you. Just read that this morning on your post. Hope you mini vacation rocks. Thank you about the photos.
DeleteWe don't have Aldi's around here and our prices are out of control. Hoping for less crazy times.
ReplyDeleteAmalia
xo
Hey Amalia! Hope you're able to find some good deals where you shop. It's nuts out there.
DeleteI could spend a lot of time on that deck, Ivy. I do most of our grocery shopping at Aldi. I use Costco a couple of times a year. For two people much of what I buy there lasts for quite awhile. Several years ago I decided to make a Thai curry. I'd not had coconut milk before this venture. We could not eat the curry. So sweet. I was disappointed because this was all the rage at that time.
ReplyDeleteHelloooooooo Sandra! We for sure spend a great deal of time there and during the day if I'm home working, I take food breaks out there as well. Love that you found a system that works for you both and lasts you for quite awhile. That's the best!
DeleteThat is a bummer about the curry. I don't like sweet in that way either. Have you tried it again without the sugar? I have a sugar-free curry seasoning that's not too bad. Not sweet. Good with garbanzo beans!
You always find the best Aldi bargains. Those peppers for $2.55 are a great buy, and it's impressive how many different things you made from the coconut milk. Homemade non-dairy ice cream and salted caramel sound especially good.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at your pumpkin pricing rule. We all have those items that are only worth buying up to a certain price. Once they cross the line, they're suddenly much less appealing.
Thanks, Melody and Happy Weekend. Bring on the fun!
DeleteThat's a terrific haul. Rick is a huge Aldi fan. I have a great soup recipe using butternut squash and garam masala with the coconut milk. I think it's better in things than alone.
ReplyDeleteOhhh, I do so love butternut. Crazy good and I love how long it lasts into the winter too. Happy weekend to you and Rick!
DeleteLovely post!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Cheers and Happy Weekend.
DeleteGreat tips. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree, I am thankful blogger is still running. It can drive me nuts, but at least it is still here.
Same. Love that it's still running. Happy Weekend, Carla!
DeleteWe don't have a Aldi in my rural county. I tend to "gather" when I shop at different stores - meat at the butchers and most produce from the farm. Our farmers markets have been taken over by crafts and have squeezed out the "farmer"
ReplyDeleteWell I'm done with Blogger and extremely happy at WordPress. I'm blogging every day like I used to - it's fun once you get over the initial learning curve.
You have a beautiful deck - pretty view. Can't wait to see the finished product!
Hey Debby! Here in our rural area we have an ALDI. Nice that you have a farm to get your goodies. Those are the best!
DeleteGlad you're happy with WP. Really happy you're blogging daily. I can't comment on your blogs but I'm thrilled you found a home you like.
Happy Writing!
We don't have an Aldi's here in the Flatlands of Sacramento either. Wish we did. Any way that we can cut a few corners is perfect for us.
ReplyDeleteOh my ... all of those spindles ... lots of work but its going to be beautiful when completed.
Enjoy your rest of the week.
Sue
Hey Sue. Do you have a Grocery Outlet or other discount stores in your area?
DeleteThose spindles are gonna be the death of me, I'm pretty sure. lol.
WOW amazing and what a great shopper you are. I love your deck photos
ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia
Hi Cecilia. I really love good deal hunt. Thanks about the deck photos.
DeleteWe have Aldi and Lidl in the UK. We find Lidl the better shop.
ReplyDeleteHi No-Name Anonymous. We were supposed to get a LIDL and sadly, didn't. What a bummer because I was excited to see inside. What makes it better for you? You didn't give us much information.
DeleteThat was a good shop ...
ReplyDeleteI do like your deck photographs ... lovely.
Yes, blogger has been causing issues but I'm sticking with it.
Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday and I wish you happy days ahead.
All the best Jan
Thanks, Jan! Same. I'm sticking with Blogger as well. Though sometimes I think about a Square Space one for just my recipes. However, Blogger is my happy little home. Even with the wonky bits. Happy weekend to you!
DeleteI love me some good Aldi deals!
ReplyDeleteMe too!!! Happy weekend, Michelle.
DeleteThat is a fabulous Aldi haul! I wish we had a larger store near us. Our local store is TINY... like 4 aisles tiny with very little variety.
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne. That's what I love about ALDI. Small and not a lot of everything. Just enough of what we like. Plus our produce is really, really good. That said, I get that the small selection is not everyone cuppa. For sure. Makes sense. Happy weekend to you!
DeleteI don't so much mind the few selection but I literally can not get enough produce to last us a week there as I typically fill 2 carts... and 65% of what I buy is fresh produce. I'd literally clean the place out.
DeleteOh yeah, if your location is cleared out by two carts of produce, dang, that's a teeny tiny ALDI. Understandable for sure. Thanks for stopping back in. Happy Weekend!
DeleteAldis's is great, isn't it? I don't go nearly as often as I should. Love the view from your deck. How beautiful and serene. Thanks for stopping by:)
ReplyDeleteHiYa, Sandra! So great. Love ALDI. The produce at my location rocks big time. Though back, back, back in the day when they had a different manager I stopped going however that was long ago when the world was flat and these days, ALDI rocks the socks off other stores. Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
DeleteLooks like some taste food. Never heard of Aldi.
ReplyDeleteHi Dora! ALDI is a discount grocery store that does fall under the love/hate for some. I love it, of course.
DeleteLove this! You have been inspiring me to ship more at Aldi. The 3 pk peppers were fantastic in my pasta salad. Can't argue they're price at all.
ReplyDeleteHellllooooo Kris! Those peppers are even LESS this week. How does ALDI do it??????
DeleteWe don't have an Aldi in Canada but I think $44 for all those groceries seems like a good deal. Your deck looks very spacious. I hope the rain stops so you can finish it. Take care!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I've heard that. That's too bad because many of the items in my location are from Canada. Wonder why you guys don't have one? Oh the rain is on and off and today I'm just gonna paint the inside wall. Poor deck is stuck in limbo. That's okay. Happy weeeknd!
DeleteI love your deck. I don't shop at Aldi, it's a ten-fifteen minute bus ride after waiting at the bus stop, then again for the ride home. It's quicker for me to shop at the local five-seven minutes walk supermarkets.
ReplyDeleteHi River! Thanks about the deck. With the on and off rain, she's on hold and I've moved inside to paint walls. Understandable about ALDI being not an easy area or quick to get to. That makes sense. Wishing you a groovy weekend.
DeleteLove your pictures!
ReplyDeleteMuch thanks, Stacy!
DeleteWhat great savings Ivy. The deck is coming along very nicely. I have taken to hitting each and every blog I read just to make sure I catch a post.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Hi Jackie! I love a good savings. Thanks on the deck. She's sorta in limbo with this rain on and off. That's okay. Plenty of walls to paint inside. Wishing you a happy weekend. So sorry Blogger giving you crap too. Though I'm happy we can still use it.
DeleteI must say that I really enjoy being called a boogerbutt, lol.
ReplyDeletelolol. It started long ago when the world was flat.
DeleteWe buy most of the non-perishables at Aldi. The produce is sometimes hit or miss, but I always check to see what they have before heading to the full-service grocery store.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy! I get that about the produce. Our location now has great produce of which I buy a lot. But back in the day when the land was flat we had a terrible manager there so much so, I stopped going. Hope your area gets a better manager. No reason for it to be hit or miss. That's a bummer.
DeleteLovely photos. I love Aldis. I buy most of my cheese there as it is a lot cheaper and they have really good cheeses!
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon. Hubby loves the cow cheeses toooooo!!!!
DeleteAs you can tell, it takes a while for me to answer, yesterday I hardly opened the laptop. 900.00 for a blower motor on the AC/Heat
ReplyDelete6:30 am lab work for Bob, which involves listening to him fuss about going, getting him in and out the car and inside the lab, home for breakfast and
walk dog. The ducks are still here, 8 weeks now and she has dropped 2 eggs on the concrete deck..
that is a lot of work on the deck, it will be beautiful when you are done, and it looks great to me like it is now.... I wish I loved to cook. I hate it so much and always have. I have to force myself to fix enough for us to survive. ha ha
I can't imagine hating to cook but you're not alone. There are more than a few out there that hate both cooking and baking. Poor duckies dropped their eggs. Oh no Nice that you're caring for them. You have much on your plate. You really are Wonder Woman!
DeleteNice looking deck! I bet it is a nice place to sit and enjoy nature. I do love my little porch for that reason.
ReplyDeleteAs for shopping? I dislike it so much I wait until there is nothing to eat to go get stuff. Aldi's is good, but I generally have farm things and other stuff to pick up and don't like making more than one stop while in town.
I dislike cooking, baking, and planning meals. Since my husband passed away I've really had a hard time with it. His wants for food kept me cooking.
Thanks, Val. We are out back often. I'm a woods and nature girl for sure. I get that about shopping for ingredients. It'snot everyone's cuppa. For me, I love it. I love grocery shopping. Though like you, I'm not a meal planner. Also like you, when mine passes, I imagine I'll have a hard time with it for awhile. Has it been a full year yet that he's gone? I'm very sorry. Thank you for always sharing your personal stories with us. PS: Great LEGO flowers!
DeleteOnly 9 months since he died. It is a very hard adjustment, some days great, other days awful.
DeleteYeah. This is one of the crappiest events in life and my heart goes out to you. ❤️ I'm not sure I'd be back in the kitchen cooking or baking yet either.
DeleteWe have a really nice Aldi, and I have a few things that I like to buy there. Your deck is wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteLove that you have a really nice ALDI as well. I believe we both get the same kinda ketchup. happy Belated Anniversary to you two love birds. Thanks on the deck. In limbo until next week.
ReplyDeleteHi! Unfortunately, where I'm working from today I cannot read your comment because I do not know the words and don't have translate available. Thank you for coming by. I wish you a wonderful day.
DeleteYum on the pumpkin pie! I love pie:) Have a grand weekend:)
ReplyDeleteYou too! Hope it's a yummy weekend.
DeleteShopping for groceries can be fun when you win like that. I am such a fan of coconut milk as well. I went through a phase where I was using it in so many things that I bought it by the case at Costco.
ReplyDeleteHow fun, Karen. What kinda things did you enjoy making with it? 🥠mangos looked good. Really good.
Delete
