Dig this Boogerbutts. 44 bucks on the dot for the lot at ALDI. Tim's cheeses are a buck fifty each. My red, orange and yellow peppers were less than both his cheeses at $2.55 for all three beauties. The coconut milk and tinned tomatoes (each $1.49), are both new to me. Turned the toms into a chunky salsa and the coconut milk into non-dairy ice cream AND homemade salted caramel.
My goodness I love me some ALDI deals.
Though ... for the coconut milk, my location charged me tax and then when asked about it, they kindly removed the tax. Not sure what that's about. Upon first opening, I did not love the coconut milk though it served well in homemade non-dairy ice cream AND homemade salted caramel.
For $1.49 a tin, I'll rebuy. There's just so many things to make with coconut milk. Truly endless.
The pumpkin rang in higher at $1.79 and I'm okay with that (for now). Made two non-dairy, egg-free pumpkin pies recently and once I added the other pie ingredients and a homemade crust, we enjoyed the bake. That said, if the pumpkin goes over 2 bucks, I likely won't rebuy. It's good. Just not over 2 bucks good. Same goes for the coconut milk.
In other news, here's the back deck in progress. Saying goodbye to the Annie Sloan purple that I made from her other paints. Lemme tell ya' it was really, really hard to get off the spindles. Nearly there.
I'm like, this close. This close I say, this close.
With the on and off rain all week, staining will wait. Pictures to come of the completed project.
In other, other news Blogger still isn't populating blog posts as they publish in my reader and a few of you had new posts published today that didn't show on my blog roll page either. Weird Blogger thing. Honestly though, I'm just happy Blogger is still up and running. Half broken and I'll take it.
And that my lovely Boogerbutts is that that's fit to print. Thanks for reading and I'll catch you on the flipside. Or is it flip side? Either way. Chat again soon.

Dear Ivy, I had just made a lovely, long comment on this post only to receive an "internal error" that it could not be sent. And if that isn't bad enough, this post completely disappeared...and has reappeared, testing to see if I can comment.
ReplyDeleteLet's try this again, shall we? Grrrrrr....Yes, Blogger has had the news reader issues for weeks now! Sometimes posts show up, sometimes not, and if and when they do, they don't appear on time, and not on all of our Blogger followers news readers.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely. We don't we Aldi's here in Montreal. It sounds like you got some pretty good deals, dear friend. I am very happy for you, Ivy!
Well, my long comment has been lost somewhere and I am trying to recall everything I said!
Yes, thankfully Blogger is free! And I am grateful that my readers and friends know that even if my posts don't appear in their news reader, to come directly to my blog on Mondays and Thursdays, which are the days I post!
I am very happy to see your post, dear Ivy!
I love Aldi, and you made some really smart deals! The deck looks like a hard project!
ReplyDeleteI like Aldi too, I buy a lot of veg from there and a lot of bottled waters. They sometimes have good deals on vegan stuff, which is nice. Lovely photos. The sun through the trees is fab :-D
ReplyDeleteYou have such a great view there.
ReplyDeleteMy wife loves Aldi. She won't do coconut milk due to the high fat, but she loves their coconut water. Adds a nice touch to smoothies.
I haven't been to Aldi's in a long time. I used to shop there all the time when my kids were young. Now it's just too far of a drive.
ReplyDeleteSeems you did well at Aldi. We don't have one here at all in Tasmania, though I've been to an Aldi when travelling and visited a shop to see what all the hype was, but I wasn't that impressed and I some how don't think I would shop there if we did have one.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are really lovely with a nice view and a beaut deck.
Take care.
We're massive fans of Aldi, LIDL, and B&M here. I love how you can find food brands you'd never have known about that are as good, if not better, than the more 'mainstream' brands.
ReplyDeleteI mostly goes to Lidl and get sometimes food from “to good to go” non waste food at very low price. Your deck is already very nice! Love the last picture.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have Aldi in Canada or Trader Joe's
ReplyDeleteI've never shopped at Aldi's but after reading your post, I think I will give it a try. You made some good things and of course, these are always better when you know you have shopped well for the ingredients. Love the deck!!! Looks like a fabulous place to sit and enjoy life..
ReplyDeleteThat's a whole lot of food for $44. The price of the peppers is really good. I saw them in the market at that price for 1 recently. OUCH! And your sun in the trees and back deck views are lovely. That deck looks fantastic-I like how it gets some shade, Have a super rest of your week.
ReplyDeleteMy son loves Aldi. He works in another supermarket but still shops at Aldi! I always have canned tomatoes available, useful for all kinds of dishes especially when fresh tomatoes are out of season.
ReplyDeleteWe have Aldi here in the UK, they're great and are taking over a bigger and bigger share of the market, overtaking some of the big boys like Tesco and Asda. Of course no extra tax over here, I dunno how you cope with that in the States. You must have to carry a calculator around with you all the time?
ReplyDeleteAnd Bloggers getting on my t*ts keep playing up all the time. I posted yesterday morning and its still not showing on my blogroll! grrr!
ReplyDeleteAldi is great. You can get so many deals so much cheaper than regular grocery outlets. Love getting the cheeses.
ReplyDeleteI have some problems with blogs not updating on my blogger list as well. Not sure what is going on - I guess we just all need to keep checking on our favorites.
Have a beautiful day!
That's a great deal at Aldis! We have one but I haven't been in ages...
ReplyDeleteLOVE the header photo! Beautiful!!
hugs
Donna
I'm having some similar issues with Blogger. I hope this gets resolved!
ReplyDeleteYou did good at Aldi's. I find some great bargains there too!
PS - I love, love, love that last photo!
We don't have Aldi's around here and our prices are out of control. Hoping for less crazy times.

I could spend a lot of time on that deck, Ivy. I do most of our grocery shopping at Aldi. I use Costco a couple of times a year. For two people much of what I buy there lasts for quite awhile. Several years ago I decided to make a Thai curry. I'd not had coconut milk before this venture. We could not eat the curry. So sweet. I was disappointed because this was all the rage at that time.
ReplyDeleteYou always find the best Aldi bargains. Those peppers for $2.55 are a great buy, and it's impressive how many different things you made from the coconut milk. Homemade non-dairy ice cream and salted caramel sound especially good.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at your pumpkin pricing rule. We all have those items that are only worth buying up to a certain price. Once they cross the line, they're suddenly much less appealing.
That's a terrific haul. Rick is a huge Aldi fan. I have a great soup recipe using butternut squash and garam masala with the coconut milk. I think it's better in things than alone.
ReplyDeleteLovely post!
ReplyDeleteGreat tips. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree, I am thankful blogger is still running. It can drive me nuts, but at least it is still here.
We don't have a Aldi in my rural county. I tend to "gather" when I shop at different stores - meat at the butchers and most produce from the farm. Our farmers markets have been taken over by crafts and have squeezed out the "farmer"
ReplyDeleteWell I'm done with Blogger and extremely happy at WordPress. I'm blogging every day like I used to - it's fun once you get over the initial learning curve.
You have a beautiful deck - pretty view. Can't wait to see the finished product!
We don't have an Aldi's here in the Flatlands of Sacramento either. Wish we did. Any way that we can cut a few corners is perfect for us.
ReplyDeleteOh my ... all of those spindles ... lots of work but its going to be beautiful when completed.
Enjoy your rest of the week.
Sue
WOW amazing and what a great shopper you are. I love your deck photos
