WORDLESS WEDNESDAY #6 (now with extra words)

First up, a BIG shout out to Mari for posting Wordless Wednesdays. Check out Mari's Blog - she's always got something fun cooking and/or baking going on along with everyday life adventures and photographs.

Thank you, Mari.

In other news, the Bamix is getting a workout, ALDI's buck a bag for cranberries is back and I'm soon to use the stick blender to mash the berries before tossing them into the dehydrator. Some batches with local-down-the-road maple syrup and other batches without.

In other, other news, I just hung my second pegboard in the studio space and I like it because it keeps stuff off the floor and with gear on pegs, easy to grab, use and put away.

Hot dog.

And that my Boogerbutts is all that's fit to print. Thanks again to Mari for inspiring me with this fun weekly post.

We now return to our regularly scheduled Wordless Wednesday .... with extra words and maybe one skully.

  1. Good macro's. Not a lover of Aldi, we don't have one here and they won't come either. Have visited Aldi several times in our travels but not impressed.

    1. Hey Margaret! I am a huge fan of my local ALDI - That said, there was a time when ours was so dirty, gross and messy that I stopped going. Then that manager got sacked and the produce went back to clean, neat, well-stocked and good prices. It's too bad you never got to experience a good ALDI.

I mash them before and some I leave plain and others, I add maple. Then when dry they come off the fleximat and store air tight for the year.

  16. Do you add any liquid to the cranberries before attacking them with the stick blender?

    1. Hey Kathy - I never add water to them. Though I often to them in the Vitamix. This will be the first year that I try the stick blender and then maybe the food grinder too. We'll see. But no water, no. I want them broken up. I will add maple to some batches right before drying them out. Other batches, stay plain.

  19. I've always loved the Wordless Wednesday posts. I think a picture sometimes says it all. Like those pretty colored lights. Although I love the white twinkling lights, I've always had colored lights on my tree. I guess it's a tradition. I see you have lots of holiday magazines to look at. We can get ideas from them for sure.

    ~Sheri

**I wanted to tell you that I bought that little tree with the colored balls at Grocery Outlet. So, if you have one in your area, you can check it out. They're so pretty covered with a little snow, and Yes, so much you can do with them with your photography. : )

    1. Thank you so much for telling me about Grocery Outlet. Yes, we have one!!!!

I love that you enjoy both kinds of lights. I always like to have purple in my Chrstmas lights (also purple in the Halloween lights too). So fun. White ones are classic as well. They can be stunning.

That pile of mags was when I was at Barnes, flipping through. I love to study the photography and lighting.

  26. I just sat down to read emails and there were all your comments on past posts and I want to tell you, you made my afternoon. I looked at each post and found so much that I love and have loved and had totally forgotten the poem and the sunlight jewels on my dresser. reading my on old posts blessed my own heart and so did your comments. of course I did notice I was stressed to the max back in 2021 and then I thought most of it started March of 2020 when Covid shut the world down and it never went back to what it was. from 2006 to 2020, we went 5 days a week at 5:30 every week day to the YMCA it was my exercise and talkathon to friends I made there, I even found a new BFF in the pool and she was that until she died on Valentine's day of this year, thanks for being your happy self

    1. I had been offline for four days so it was fun to catch up and read your posts. So sorry that she died this year. I've been the YMCA once and think about going back. The peom you wrote was excellent. It filled everything in the day and was fun to read. You my friend, write a good post. It's always good to stop in. Like chatting with an old friend. Huggs and love to you!

    1. You are very welcome, Catherine! I bought oranges this week too! ALDI had a sale. So las night I used the stick blender on the cranberries and whilst it does work, I found the KitchenAid metal food grinder attachment to do the best job with a big batch. For a small batch, the Bamix wins. For 8 bags though, I felt KitchenAid won. The blender also works or a food processor.

They are drying now so I'll know more later. And then I have more bags to do. It's cranberry crushing season here in my kitchen.

What will you make with the oranges? Sounds fun!

  29. Glad you're stick blender is being used, and the food grinder too. We call a food grinder a mincer over here. I haven't bought a Kitchenaid yet, still making my mind up, and then if I do decide to get one I'll have to choose a colour, that's another decision to make, haha. Oh, Christmas magazines, they're the best of the year, aren't they.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Jo! We also call them mincer and some call them meat grinders too. However, with KitchenAid. I once bought the plastic mincer/grinder and straight back to the store it went. Then when the metal one went on sale, I bought it locally so that if needed, I could also returned it only ... I looooooove it. So, so, so useful and easy to clean.

I can relate in part because it took me a long time to get a KitchenAid. Before Tim got it for my for Christmas a few years back, I wasn't sure I would use such a big machine. I am happy to tell you that I am wrong. It is one of my most important tools. I went with the light yellow and she makes me smile all of the time. Just a great, great machine.

Yes! I love holiday magazines, I don't own those. I enjoy looking at them at Barnes - our bookshoppe cafe aka Barnes & Noble.

  31. I don't visit Aldi often, but they do have some good prices on products when I have popped in. Your Aldi snowman is very cute.
Pegboards can be so useful for storing stuff and keeping the floor clear and it makes life easier seeing where everything is at a glance. Hope it works for you.
The coloured lights image is lovely, all twinkly and seasonal. Love it 😁
Have a great week, my friend.

    1. Pegboards are wonderful. I've had many in our kitchen for years and years and I jus love how easy they are to store and since I'm always making something, just overall it's better for me to have them hanging. The ones in the studio are working very, very well too!

Thank you about the lights. I love this time of year. Super peaceful to look at. Wishing you a WONDERFUL week ahead!

  32. Hi Ivy, Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving lovely comments. I appreciate the tip on preventing yeast dough from springing back. I'll try that next time.
Your snowman warmer is so cute! About my camera....it's a point & shoot one and the results are getting a little blurry. I see from your old posts that you are quite a photographer. My skills are definitely not in that department :) Have an awesome week.

    1. Anytime, Granny Marigold. Relaxing the gluten really helps a great deal, I find. Or, sometimes there's not enough liquid in the dough as well. But often, I find if I just let the dough have a little rest.

Wondering about your camera. I had my phone camera get blurry on me and it turned out, I had much on my lens. I cleaned that off and it helped. Not sure if that is the same with yours. Just tossing it out there in case.

      Thanks for stopping by today!
