MACRO MONDAY - MONSTERS INC.

I found Monster Inc. minis at Five Below. Super small. Super fun. Five smackers for a box of six characters and other bits and bobs.

Below I posted the BTS and what's nice about behind the scene stuff is I get to show you how I use inverse square law to create a black background. Inverse square law is the rate at which light falls off.

In short, when my camera is set at maximum sync speed, the off-camera flash can't reach beyond the monsters, making the background look black - which also works with the DIY black photography board I placed the monsters on.

Pretty cool.

In other news, last week I bought a cheap stick blender and after a few days of playing with it, Smoochie Face ordered me a Bamix. The Bamix stick blender comes with useful accessories and four different blades.

I have a long list of things to make on Tuesday and plan to spend the entire day in the kitchen writing, testing and playing.

Beyond excited.

Beyond.

And that my Boogerbutts is Macro Monday for this week. If you'd like to join me in close-up photography and macros, I'd love to see your photos.

Until next time, cheers and boogie boogie.

  13. I love the little monsters! I have a stick blender with a whole bunch of different attachments, but I only use the stick part to make smoothies in summer. There is a small blender cup attachment and a mini processor attachment, but they have never even been out of the box.

    1. Thank you, River on the little monsters.

Very cool about the stick blender. Smoothies sound good. So far I've made a few different plant milks and one seed and berry drink, as far as drinks go. Very fun to play with. Will you ever play with the rest of the stuff? I have used the mini processor, two came with mine. Very fun.

  19. Those Monster Inc. minis made for a fun project, Ivy. Years ago, I had a nice macro lens with my digital SLR and it was great fun to use, but that equipment is long gone.

    1. Thanks, Beatrice! Did you end up selling it or giving it away or just got lost in the shuffle or life? I saw your Zippo post and I loved your photos. So true about the not made to last thing. I love when I find a company that offers for life, though harder and harder for me to find that. Wishing you a wonderful rest of your week. Cheers and boogie boogie.

  22. Aw, I love them! Seeing these mini reminds me of other small toys my boys had growing up. My youngest son and I have been eyeing some macro lenses for our shared Cannon but I haven't bitten the bullet yet. I think it would be a lot of fun to play with though!

  23. Thank you for visiting my blog. Its great to see that you are into photography. When I retired back in 2012 I joined a camera club and ended up being the tutor. I had to teach myself a lot so that I could teach others. However, as years have passed on and I've got older and slower I have left my Canon 5 in the cupbourd and i just use my iphone 15 now. Good for you for still being artistic and a keen photographer. Unfortunately I don't share your flare for creating in the kitchen. But I do have a Bamix stick.

    1. Hello Diane! Draw with light from Greek, I didn't know that until this morning thanks to your blog. I always called it painting with light. Love that I learned the term draw as well. Because well ... I love to draw too!

The Bamix and learning light are both new to me and so far, loving them both. What do you like to use your Bamix for? Yesterday I made mayo for the first time. Mind blown how easy and good it was to make.

Yes, learning photography is a wonderful thing. I just love it. I love that you ended up being a tutor. You are very interesting and I'm happy I found your blog. I've heard a lot of good things about iphone cameras and I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Thanks for stopping in. Cheers, Ivy.

  24. I love the effects you create. I still have a SLR camera. Years ago I enjoyed playing around with macro and zoom lenses. Now and again I think I will start using it again but my phone camera is so easy to carry around and takes good photos.

  26. Oh how fun! Macro IS my favorite thing to do other than using a long lens to 'shoot' birds and wildlife once in a while. I never have used an off camera flash but you are doing wonders with it!

    1. Yes, so fun! Sounds like you have fun with photography too. One of my good friends is into wildlife as well. As for speedlights and off-camera flash, for macro it works wonders! Hope you get to give it a go some day. Really fun to play with a small speedlight and also, a BIG strobe indoors is fun as well. Cheers, Ivy.
