It's new banner time. These are berries shot inside the new shooting area. The new space has some issues, more on that another day, for today, dig this BTS (behind the scene), photo.
See that board?
It's made with a homemade stain of cooked beets. No formula/recipe because I make it up as I go. Same with the darker wood from the last post. That said, an upcoming tutorial coming to a blog feed near you.
In other news, I scored excellent deals at Label Shopper. Just under 100 smackers for a pile of groovy new clothes. I LOVE that store. Even got a cute new bag. Which weren't part of the 100, just a fun add.
Love that store. The deals, ROCK.
In other, other news, yesterday I wrote a new pumpkin spice bake with soaked organic raisins and baked in the pressure cooker. This method is quickly becoming my new fave for bakes.
No heat. Set it. Forget it. Come back when done. Bing, bam, boom. One bake going in our bellies. Yes please and thank you.
And ... in other, other, OTHER news, I woke with idea for an upside down raspberry lemon honey kissed bake. Haven't written the formula yet. Right now it's just in my brain, knocking about.
And that's about all for now. Wishing you all a Berry Merry Week.
Ooooh! I love it! Beautiful photo and the board is brilliant too.
ReplyDeleteHi Mari! Thank you bunches! Happy New Week!
DeleteI do like raspberries and I do like all of your photographs here.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Berry Merry Week too :)
All the best Jan
Hi Jan! Happy Berry Merry Week to you!!!!!
DeleteLove the board. I wouldn’t be brave enough to do that! We’ve used a pressure cooker recently. So much faster with heating the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteHey Marie! I tell you, it's dead easy to make a board. I promise. Super duper fun, too!
DeleteVery cool on the pressure cooker. What did you make?
I've made desserts in a Crock Pot but never through about using a pressure cooker. Will have to do some research on that.
ReplyDeleteHey Kathy! It's dead easy. For mine, I bake on high/more 27 mins, in the sealed position, uncovered. There are some that cover, others that bake for longer. It's a game of test and play for the batter added. My bakes don't have eggs or dairy and 27 minutes so far, works for the best for me. YMMV - that said, I'm happy to help in any way. Happy Playing! It's the best! PS: I keep the pressure cooker sealed about ten or so minute after it finishes. Again though, some don't. Happy Baking!
DeleteLovely new banner!
ReplyDeleteThanks bunches, Christine!
DeleteYour banner is delicious!
ReplyDeleteHi Debby! Much, much thanks!
DeleteThose raspberry shots are exquisite! And the use of beets to make a pinkish-purple wood stain? Brilliant And such a beautiful shade of colour too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debra. Thanks. Yes, funny thing about that stain. At first, it was a bit funny looking however, inside I was like, I gotta keep going. Gotta shoot it. Glad I listened to that little voice. Really love the combo. Thanks again and Happy Berry Merry Week to you!
DeleteKeep working on the raspberry/lemon/honey! It sounds terrific. And fabulous photos for this one.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jeanie. I'm outta lemon but I think, once I get those and more berries (I keep eating them), I'll be able to rock and roll with the new formula. Thank you for the visit and have a Berry Merry Day!
DeleteNot only is your new header wonderful but it looks delicious too. Love the behind the scenes look at your set up.
ReplyDeleteI've been in a Label Shopper store near me and didn't find much of anything. Glad you found some good deals
Thank you! Yes, I think that's fair to say about Label Shopper. It can for sure be hit or miss. That said, I've been back a few times last week and they keep putting good jeans out for prices I love. A tenner for a pair of good jeans? I'm over the moon. That said, it's a pick-through sort of discount store. Kinda reminds me of Marshalls where it's a pick through, good deals and some days, not good deals.
DeleteExcellent shot. Those berries look good. And ripe. Usually the ones in the store are dark red which is past ripe.
ReplyDeleteHi Alex. So ... with these, I looked through the Aldi organic and non organic. Bought both and the organic won both in taste and look.
DeleteI love the new banner, nice job!
ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of Label Shopper, so I went to their website and did a search for a store near me. Closest one is 968 miles 😝
Thank you about the banner. Yikes, that's a bit of a drive, eh? Sorry about that.
DeleteLovely photos. Incase you are unaware, you have talent! I'm not familiar with that store. Is it local? That sounds like a very good bargain.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra. Your kind words made me smile. Thank you. As for Label Shopper, I am not sure where they came from. I'd never heard of them until recently. Yes, the bargains are great. It is a pick through store though for sure. Some days are a miss. Lately though, they've been all hits. The jeans alone are mind blowing. IMO.
DeleteGreat new banner. And my inner dyer is studying that lovely board. Hm. I have a couple of unfinished cutting boards..
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! An unfinished board just waiting for fun homemade stain. If I can be of any help, please let me know here. My email sadly, still broken.
DeleteCool picture!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Cheers!
DeleteOh my goodness, what an absolutely fantastic picture! It certainly makes a great header too, so professional and absolutely stunning! I am really impressed you used beets to stain your board. Congratulations on your clothes buying. Your new pumpkin spice bake sounds delicious! I like the idea of the raspberry lemon honey bake very much. Happy week to you and enjoyed reading this as always. Thanks Ivy!
ReplyDeleteHey Denise! Wow, wow. Thank you for the smile of the day. What a lovely comment. I wasn't able to get to the market for more lemons and berries today. Shooting for the weekend or ... maybe tomorrow. Thanks again for the lovely comment and have a Berry Merry Week!
DeleteVery nice photo of the raspberries.....and one of my favorite fruits at summertime. They are expensive at the stores, so I don't get them often. It's nice getting new clothes from time to time. Have never heard of that store before. Your pumpkin spice and raisin dessert sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHappy month of August!
~Sheri
Hey Sheri! Do you have an ALDI near you? I get berries there or excellent prices. Also the organic raspberries are also a good price at Grocery Outlet as well. Very, very good deals. Hope you can find a discount store like Aldi and GO.
DeleteOh yeah, I am way over, over due for clothes. Most of mine have chalk paint, dog hair and maple syrup on them. Loooong overdue.
Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you find some discount berries soon.
Great picture!
ReplyDeleteCathy
Thanks bunches, Cathy!
DeleteYour new photography set up is taking amazing photos. I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erika. That setup did work well for the berries. However first I had to move a bunch of stuff away from the wall. So.... I'm nearly there with the room. Almost, almost, almost. Thanks for stopping in. Wishing you a Berry Merry Week.
DeleteGreat photo's of the berries. Your set up is really nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lori. I loved the setup for the berries. Less loved having to move a bunch of other stuff away from the wall to get the setup, well, set up. Still, it's not too shabby and the space is nearly there. Thanks for stopping in. Happy Cooking!
DeleteI am amazed by your berries, what a photo! And the setup is great as well.
ReplyDeleteAmalia
xo
Hi Amalia! Thanks. It's a lot of fun to play!
DeleteLove the new banner. =) I grew up using a pressure cooker, and in fact, it was one of the first things I told my husband we NEEDED after getting married...but it was to cook potatoes/stew, not berries.
ReplyDeleteHey Crystal! Thanks. So fun. Pressure cooking is the BEST. I'm outta raspberries so I can't do the upside down bake just yet. Soon though.
Deletethose raspberries look good enough to pick right off of this page!! No kidding....the picture is perfect and so inviting to taste these lovely berries. Your idea for some tasty dishes sounds amazing and the way you have described them would make everyone want to give it a try. Glad you found some good bargains...this always makes a person feel great. Happy Whisking Ivy...
ReplyDeleteHey Shug! Just read your post and I swear, never, ever, not ever would I have though of you as shy. Love that you got to see your grandson and extended family. Sounds good.
DeleteThank you for the kind words about the berries. I agree about the bargains. They rock.
Spectacular photo of those raspberries and beautiful as the new banner!! You are very creative. Baking in the IP is such a great idea. I hope you will share the recipe and share how to do it. Nothing like finding a store where you can get good bargains, Enjoy your new clothes!
ReplyDeleteThank you. For the bake, I used a batter that I wrote and then into a heat-safe bake dish. Place that on a trivet after adding water to the bottom. I bake mine open, no foil, though some like foil. I don't use foil so none for me. Bake on high/more for 27 minutes. I let most of the pressure fall on it's own, so anywhere from 10-15 mins. Then remove and place hot bake dish on cooling rack. When ready (not too hot), run a knife around the edges, flip that sucker out and let cool with the bottom on the bottom of the cooling rack.
DeleteBing, bang, boom. We got ourvelves a pressure cooked bake.
However.... I've used the same formula in the regular oven and it's more of a cake. In the pressure cooker maybe more of a banana bread. Either way, both yummy and nooooo hot kitchen.
Hi dear Ivy, I absolutely love your new banner and board!!! You are indeed a very creative lady! Thank you so much for sharing, so happy to see your post!
ReplyDeleteHi linda! Thanks for stopping in today. What you said about landlords and cats makes good sense.
DeleteThanks, Ivy. And in response to you reply to my comment on your last post, I, too, am so looking forward to Autumn! Take good care of yourself and have a great rest of the week and weekend. Here in Montreal it is going to be very hot and humid for the next 7 days, so the forecast said.
DeleteWe had some of those hot days awhile back but since August hit, it's been cool and lovely. So cool that you're into Autumn too. Can't wait to take some pictures this year. Thanks for stopping in.
DeleteHello Ivy, I just wanted to mention that I had subscribed to your blog a while back, but your new post didn't appear in my news feed. I think what happened is that when I subscribed to your blog I did it on my cellphone...and it didn't work. Now I have done it on my computer! Live and learn, I guess! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting about the phone. I've joined blogs and then somehow they stopped showing up in my feed too. And then I went back to their page, unfollowed and followed again. I'm not sure what's going on with Blogger, some days. Thanks for giving it another go and telling me about it. Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week.
Deletei really love the new banner, what a beautiful picture. interesting stuff you have been busy. i am not familiar with the label shopper...i will have to google that!! have a wonderful weekend, thanks so much for stopping by today, i was so happy to share my butterflies!!
ReplyDeleteGreat butterflies for you today! Loved seeing those. Thank you for the kind words. Yes, love me some Label Shopper. The hoodie I'm wearing: 6 bucks. The jeans: 10 bucks. Crazy good deals are still out there. Woohoo!
DeleteJust love strawberries, and I like your new banner, looks good. The cake recipe going around in your head sounds a good one with all my favourite ingredients.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Margaret. I went to the market again last night and the good raspberries are still gone. Should be replaced soon. Thanks for stopping in and have a yummy week.
DeleteWOW the banner and how you created it is brilliant!!
ReplyDeleteHi Polly! Thank you so much for the kind words and the visit. Wishing you a fun new week ahead.
