It's Saturday and right now I don't wanna go ANYWHERE. Just wanna be home. However, I'll probably go out later for a photo walk and maybe get some timber for a little DIY photography board making fun. Right now though, home, home, home.
Home.
In other news, Silk brought back my FAVE non-dairy creamer. It's a half and half. I don't have a photo ready but if anyone's interested, I'll snap a shot and post it next time. Really good. Even Tim likes it. Not sweet, which I love. Just simple non-dairy creamer. Enjoying a cuppa now.
Delightful.
In other, other news, the ingredient budget goes well at 60 smackers per week with a 15 flex. Haven't used the flex yet. I like having it there though.
Doing dish as I go is going mostly well. Sometimes I catch myself slipping and the kitchen table as of this minute is loaded with bake dishes in need of a better home. Something I hope to solve with a new under the work bench build. Something to hold the newer and newish bake dishes longways and then have it on wheels to tuck away.
If I do make it, I'll share it. Right now it's an idea floating in my brain.
Lasty, in other, other, other news, new goodies landed on the porch yesterday. I love that these soft boxes are light (no pun intended), enough to easily carry out back. So that's what I did. Here's a few of the shots along with the Summerween banner.
Happy Summerween to those who celebrate!
Adorable Banner with the Summerween!! You really did a great job with your camera. You need to do a video and show us your full kitchen so we can all that you are working on...I bet it is awesome!! Good that you have been able to stick with 60 and not use the flex. Happy Weekend!! It's pretty warm around here!
ReplyDeleteHey Shug. The 60 smackers is a good base for us for sure. Happy Summerween!
DeleteVery cute!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your photography tools in action too.
Thanks, Mari! These are tools I've just started to use with flash and it's soooo fun!
DeleteHappy Summerween. Your floating brain is working better than mine at the moment.
ReplyDeleteHappy Summerween or Winterween for you, eh? LOVED the frozen bubbles. Also, sending you lots and lots and LOTS of healthy wishes.
DeleteYou took great photos with the new gadgets. I like them a lot! Love the Summerween banner and a little boy next door when I was very young introduced me to comics and Wonder Woman was a favorite, and I still enjoy that character. Cute WW there. Good luck with your kitchen project. It’s slow going here but we’ll get there in the end. Thank you for another lovely read.
ReplyDeleteHi Denise. These are excellent tools. Wonder Woman in my fave too. She's the best! Thanks for stopping by today.
DeleteVery cute photos! Have a great evening.
ReplyDeleteYou too, wishing you a wonderful rest of the week.
DeleteYour pictures are always lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cheryl!
DeleteThanks for reminding me of Summerween! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I love that now I go into stores and they actually have Summerween stuff out. Crazy, silly, fun. Happy Summerween!
DeleteHappy Summerween!
ReplyDeleteHappy Summerween!
DeleteThanks for documenting how you used your boxes
ReplyDeleteHey Kathy. Sure thing. Thanks for stopping in. How are you feeling today?
DeleteVery cute Summerween characters. Love the lightbox too, though I don't have a clue about how they work.
ReplyDeleteMost of my baking dishes live inside the oven because there just isn't anywhere else for them.
I totally get that. I sometimes use the inside of the oven to hold things as well.
DeleteThe soft box job is to diffuse light. On the other side goes a flash or a continuous light. Then inside the soft box is a baffle. The light first hits the baffle, then spreads out to the rest of the fabric. The soft box becomes a larger light source then the plain flash or bulb. Very fun tool. I'm learning.
That really is a great set up for taking photos. Happy Summerween and your banner looks great!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Judee. Happy Summerween to you! And here's to lots of yummy foods as well.
DeleteCool to see how you got that banner looking to great! Nice one Whisk!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ray!
DeleteQuite the setup for the photos. Banner is great. And looks like you guys live out in the woods!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alex. I love those woods. They aren't ours. Fun to do macro walks though.
DeleteMy first thought when looking at your Summerween photos was how did she get such stunning photos of these small omjects. NOW I KNOW! alas, no camera or light boxes here, maybe I could build a tiny box for a cell phone shot.... Yesterday Bob asked me what is Summerween. I said I don't know, where did you see it. He said on the news, hummmm I said and went on about my daily CHORES... just now when this popped up I looked it up and now I know. it means a time of they year in the life of The Happy Whisk that she can play with her Halloween Decorations and not have to wait until October. right? right?
ReplyDeleteI did stick out a 24 inch flag for 4th of July on the front porch. does that count?
You probably could make a fun soft box for the cell phone. So these boxes the light goes inside and then the small light becomes a large light source as it goes through a baffle (fabric), and then the other part of the fabric on the outside of the soft box. Sorta like the sun get diffused with the clouds.
DeleteSummerween is fun. Some folks throw pool parties, carve watermelons, dress up skeletons in bathing suits. A goofy little thing. Fun though.
Happy Summerween! Have a good one!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marie. You too!
DeleteJust love your Summerween banner ... it's brilliant.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Hi Jan. Thank you bunches. Happy Summerween.
DeleteSummerween is a great idea and I love your decorations! Gorgeous images, all!
ReplyDeleteHi Jeanie! Much thanks to you!
DeleteI love your banner. It's interesting to see the set up you have to take the picture too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ann! It's fun to shoot outside. Happy Summerween and boogie boogie.
DeleteHappy Summerween! I've never even heard of this, but it sounds better than Halloween, since Halloween is usually rainy and cold where I live!
ReplyDeleteHappy Summerween, Jess. Did you just start blogging? How do you like it?
DeleteHello Ivy! Happy Summerween! You should do a video of your kitchen to share with all of us. Thanks for the recent comment over on my blog. I need to eventually get around to updating it. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteHi Julia! Great to see you. Hope you are doing well. Be great to see you blog again. Though I also understand time away. Happy Summerween!
DeleteI love your photo's. It looks like you have a great set up for photography. Happy Summerween!!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Catherine!
DeleteLove your new banner! Happy Summer!
ReplyDeleteThanks Catherine. Happy Summerween.
DeleteWell done for keeping with the budget and not needing the flex. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for your kitchen work bench.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun week.
Love me a budget. Really fun. So far this week we've only spent 32 smackers. My bad for not explaining better. It's gonna be a shelf that lives under the bench. I'm thinking with wheels.
Deletethanks for the comment, the clothing is camouflage. I have done that all my life, also the angle of the celll sitting on a chair helps. trying to decide if I have the nerve to show the real me.. also the cell phone has an auto face smooth effect that can't be turned off. I nearly passed out when I saw the wrinkles. I wore sleeveless to shop and came home and took photos. ov vey, changed into my Johnny Cash outfit that is what i wear most of the time
ReplyDeleteHave you tried using the camera on the other side? Wrinkles or not, it doesn't matter. We all get them, it's how we wearing them and YOU are amazing no matter what. Your beauty shines right through my friend. Right through.
DeletePS: I wear mostly black too!
I have tried the cell up and down and every corner and high and low, I delete all but the ones I feel I can share. I can tell you the cell makes me look tall and thin, in these photos, but other places show the real me. just like models, they never look in person like they do in photos. that is why photoghaphers cameras go click click click so fast, and then they pick the best.
DeleteThe camera that is used for taking pictures. That one tends to have more control in the settings. As for models, flat lighting is your friend. The light goes in front and smooths out the lines and shadows. Works great for face shots as along as the person isn't tooooo washed out. Some photographers take the front lighting too far and turn people into ghosts.
DeleteHello Ivy, I have never tried any of the Silk products. I love the Summerween banner!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. They are mostly pretty good. Hubby and I can't eat dairy. Silk also makes a non-sugar plain soya milk. Works so well in bakes. Thank you about the Summerween banner. Really fun.
DeleteWe prefer just using half and half in our coffee these days, but in years past we had bought flavored (liquid) creamers. I enjoyed seeing your photo setup, thanks for sharing how you did the summerween captures.
ReplyDeleteHey Beatrice! We used to get this dairy-free one that wasn't plain only toooo much sugar AND way too expensive for a bunch of sugar and other things. Thanks about the setup. It's quite fun! Happy Summerween and boogie boogie.
