All Engines GO!

Last Saturday we hit Barnes and I flipped through magazines. Took home the candle issue of Willow & Sage. Do you go to Barnes & Noble Cafe'? We go often and LOVE it there.

I never made candles before. Only played around with homemade wax burner style stuff. Ready to jump into candles. I like that we control the ingredients.

Gonna be fun!

Looked at another house today. I'll drop the grainy phone video below. We're not buying this one. It's nice to stop and look. Keeps that energy going. We've had lots of starts and stops with house hunting. This time it's all engines go.

And that my Boogerbutts is all that's fit to print.

Chat again soon.

Huggs & Bugs, Me.

  3. I wouldn't mind learning how to make candles. I've also had an interest in learning to make soap. Problem is I already have too many things I've wanted to learn to do and then lost interest.
House hunting would be fun. Love all that land around that one. The barn looks likes one I've seen around here.

  4. I love looking at houses, and for 4 years in 1990 was in RE.. My brokers son and I used to tour every open house, every thing our office listed, because we both liked know what was out there, a lot different now, photos on line . i like the look of the land and 3 acres is great, but looks like a lot of work.. no near neighbors is what I dream of, but we are too old for that now. good luck with finding the perfect home

  8. I used to practically live at the B&N cafe!! haha And before that, Borders! Haven't been to the cafe in years, but did just go into the store day before yesterday and bought a book.
Many years ago I did try candle making, but didn't stick with it. Have a lot of glassware so I like tea lights, but buy others at times. I was gifted a few at Christmas, the glow of them make me smile. :)
Looking forward to seeing your candle creations.
Happy house hunting. And, thank you very much for visiting my page the other day!!

  9. I can't help but wonder if the babbling brook is a sewage dump??? You will know the right house when you see it. You can then light it p with your homemade candles.

  10. When I was a kid in a youth group back in the days of the dinosaurs, we made candles from hot paraffin wax poured into molds. Fun but dangerous because of the hot wax. Back in the 90s, I made candles from rolling beeswax sheets, which was all the rage then in crafts. Much less dangerous because you only had to warm the wax sheets up a bit with a hair dryer until they were soft enough to roll easily. They made pretty nice candles too! Have fun with your candle-making and I hope you'll show us some of your results!

Now on that house - seemed like it needed some repairs - if you can do them. Big property. I love looking at homes too - but this one was not for me.

I do like this one though and that there are no neighbors. We live on 21 acres in the woods.

  19. I do like Barnes and Noble but haven't been to their cafe.
Last year I made candles for gifts for my co-workers. They turned out good and were really quite easy to make.
House shopping is fun, but hard too! The right one is out there for you!

I'd like to make smaller candles from some large ones I have that have burned low through the middle, but I can't find any place that sells wicks.

    1. Hey River. Have you checked out a website named, candlescience? They have wicks there. Also found some on Amazon. I can't say if any of them are good yet.

  23. I have a vivid memory of being in a house where a man was into candle-making, and every surface of the house was covered with candles because he loved to do it but didn’t have any plans for where they would go. That may have been during a house-hunting time, though we bought our house long ago and never looked again. Good luck with your search. I hope when you see the right house it will also be AFFORDABLE!

  24. I need to stop by more often and read, I missed you were house hunting. But didn't you just do a lot of work in your home for a office and craft space? When I was young and newly married we were always looking for the right place to rent so we rented four homes before buying. That was my first owned home, then when I divorced I bought a place for the kids and me, there 28 yrs. Told the kids the next move was when they moved my dead body out of the house....HOWEVER, I moved three yrs ago. I bought my brothers out of their portion of my moms house and I moved back to my childhood home. That....I HOPE, will be my last time.

    1. That's neat that you rented. I've heard people doing that and think it's a great idea for those unsure. For us we just wanna buy. We already own our trailer, just not the land, which is why we're moving. That's wonderful that you were able to buy your brothers, out. Very, very cool.

  25. House hunting is such a big project. And that barn made me sad as it looks like it needs some work. I would love a barn, but not where I live now. and let us know what happens with your candle making. I used to make them when I was a teenager, and it was so much fun. Happy weekend. hugs-Erika

    1. Hey Erika! I think yes, back in the day house hunting was a task. These days with online tours, pictures and prices, it's just so easy. That house is out of budget. The barn would be torn down if the house was in budget. I'd use the wood that was good for various projects.

  29. I enjoyed the video of the house - mostly I enjoyed hearing you talk so energetically about it. My only candle-making experience was as a child - some kind of thick candle made in a can or something like that. I hope you'll share your experience with us if you give it a go, Ivy!
