MACRO MONDAY - MS. MARBLES SAYS HELLO

I'm kickin' off the week with a Macro Monday & Close-Up Photography, post. Some Mondays I'll have words, other Mondays no words and then I'm sure I'll skip a few Monday as well. Anyone who wants to join in, I'd love to see your photos.

Today's guest is Ms. Marbles. She's a marbled orb weaver and likes to hide under leaves, often attached by a single silk. She also likes to hide under other things and lemme tell you, Ms. Marbles is fast.

Even Spider-Man would have a hard time keeping up with her.

In this photo Ms. Marbles is moving and I'm squatted nearby. My jeans are soaked because it's a soggy day. Not a complaint. There's something about close-up photography that when I'm in the wild, I forget that it's cold, wet and soggy out.

I love that.

In other news, it's a 3-day week for us, moving into a 4-day weekend. Hot dog and happy dance.

And in other, other news, I got lemons a month ago, submerged them in water and stored them in the fridge. And guess what?

If you guessed that weeks later the lemons are in perfect condition, then you win three broken Christmas balls, two rotten eyeballs and a purple toothpick I found in my couch.

You're welcome.

  2. Great photo. We have web weavers but they aren't quite the same pattern. And their legs are black.
Lemons in water in the fridge? Will have to try that.

    1. Hey Alex. I scrubbed the lemons with dish soap, rinsed and dried well. Then into clean water. I like to get two bags of lemons at once so to see how well this worked, made my day. Very cool on the weavers. Love me some spiders. I have another one to show another day. Not as bright as this one but still pretty cool looking. Might be closer to the one you described.

  10. Well...you sure captured a fabulous photo of Ms Marbles. I don't do spiders very well ever since I was bitten by a brown recluse!! I did avocados in a jar of water and they lasted longer than normal. Have a good one Ivy.

    1. Hey Shug. I'm sorry you had a bad go. Did the venom cause medical attention?

Love the avocados in a jar. Brilliant. I do other veggies and herbs and it works so well. Never tried avocados. I will though. Thank you.

  11. I did not look at Ms. Marbles because I am terrified of spiders and would have nightmares. So you have succeeded in giving me a scary Halloween! Your Macro came out wonderfully!!!

  12. That really is a great picture of Ms. Marbles. Those are the big, colorful, spiders that come out here in the woods every fall. I have horrors of walking into one of their webs. How do I follow your blog??

    1. Hi Henny Penny. I love the fall spider collection. When I join blogs I go to the blog homepage. Copy their link and then go to reading list (to see my blog feed), and in the up right, click manage. Then paste link under the add (also on the right after clicking manage). That's how I follow folks who don't have a follower gadget on their page. Like mine.

Walking into their webs is not so fun. I understand that.

Thanks for stopping in and welcome to the fun house!

  23. I wonder if that method would work for limes? I don't see why not. The limes in my grocery store probably hate to see me coming because it is a death sentence for them. I have the best of intentions but rarely think to use them before they are golf ball hard.

    1. Hey Gina! You know what? I gotta try limes. Those little things I love and they rot so fast. Yes, golf hard for sure. I've done this with other veggies and it works well. I betcha limes would work too. Thanks for asking. Gonna give it a go.
