Guess what I wrote? A Cinnamon Apple Upside Down Cake. Low sugar, no eggs, no dairy and all yum. With the oven fixed, I wrote a bunch of new bakes this week.
It's wonderful.
You what's not wonderful? The in-door photography space isn't working. Plus, it's hard to keep me inside because my itchy feet keep taking me out for macro walks. Wait until you see the Marbled Orb Weaver I shot.
She's boooooteeeful.
That said, I was frustrated yesterday when I didn't have a proper place to photograph the Cinnamon Apple Upside Down Cake, and that aggravation is the fuel I'll use in the morning to make things work better.
Tim's gonna help me hang the pegboards for vertical studio space, which should lessen the challenges of a small work room. Now I'm no longer The Grumpy Spatula and back to being The Happy Whisk.
Everyone wins.
In other news, the new used camera arrived last week and I'm a snap happy fool, taking pictures of all things fall.
Glad you're enjoying your new-to-you camera! And Cinnamon Apple Upside Down Cake sounds SOOOOOOOOO good! I've never made an upside down cake and I'm starting to think perhaps it's time to try.
ReplyDeleteHey Debra! Loved all the Addams Family stuff. Was fun to go through those pictures. The Cinnamon Apple Upside Down Cake is super fun and yummy. All I did was layered peeled sliced apples (that were coated in cinnamon and monk sugar combo), on the bottom of the bake dish and poured the batter over. In the end, we liked the cake from the fridge the best.
DeleteSoooooo fun. If you make one, I'd love to hear what you think.
Love this, Ivy! Enjoy yourself.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda! Thank you. Great bunch of cartoons you had and I so do that with texts and sometimes even in real life, I answer in my head! Hope you had a yummy Thanksgiving Weekend!
DeleteI use regular recipes, including dairy products, but haven't made an upside down cake in years, ever since my kids told me they really don't like pineapple. I think I might try a cinnamon apple one for next winter. I'll make a note in my recipe book. A sweet change from cinnamon apple pies.
ReplyDeleteYour homemade pizza looked killer good! We love the Cinnamon Apple Upside Down Cake. It's just so yummy. We like ours eaten cold from the fridge though room temp isn't too bad either.
DeleteI am glad the cake and camera are both good...Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Glad to hear that Nurse Mercy is being the little rockstar she is. Sending well wishes to you!
DeleteThe sounds great, and the new used camera should serve you well.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's a great fun.
DeleteCinnamon apple upside down cake sounds delicious. It's probably good you didn't get a picture of it because I would be wanting some.
ReplyDeleteHappy that you can remain the Happy Whisk and not have to go through life as the Grumpy Spatula
lolololol on The Grumpy Spatula. That's what Tim calls me sometimes. He cracks me up.
DeleteOMG on the cake. So easy and fun. If you make one I'd love to hear what you think of it.
Sorry you couldn't get a shot of the cake but look forward t seeing the spider photo.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alex! It's okay, lots of shots coming soon! Thanks!
DeleteThe cake sounds good! Glad you got the camera and you are back to being happy!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mari! Me too. Been baking bread again, wanted to tell you. Soooo yum. Did some sliced bread too. And thought of you. JUST saw your painted acorns. OMG. OMG. OMG. I am gonna hunt some whole ones down and I gotta try that. Thank you for that! ๐งก
DeleteFall photography is so pleasing. Subjects abound! Good luck with the adjustments!
ReplyDeleteSo true. Just saw your fall photo walk, Marie. Very, very pretty. Have you printed any for your walls yet? I'm looking to get into that. So many photos, wanna print some for sure. Happy Belated Thanksgiving!
Deletein 2006 after 4 years of two Kodak easy share digital cameras, I bought my first DSLR and talk about Snap Happy. I still am, but I have to use my cell phone.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to learn how to take better photos with the cell, dog and Bob and POO is all I have to take pics of... I have done the breakfast plate and nope not my thing. I have never owned or even held a whisk, but I do have 3 spatulas, for cleaning goop out of the cups I miss in, and oatmeal/grits from a bowl and grease for the bacon I fried this morning. Bob is rapidly losing weight, no appetite and will not eat much of anything. he eats a good breakfast , thus I bought the bacon. I should not eat it but boy was it good
Happy Birthday to the pup!!!! I recall either Kodak or Canon was my first - I think Kodak because it was a gift used from someone no longer using it and then when that died we moved to Canon, maybe a PowerShot? Something like that. Can't say for sure. It was gobs ago.
DeleteIf you're looking for help with cell phone photos, have you looked on YouTube a channel called The Bite Shot. Joanie has a video there on how to take better cell phone photos. YouTube.com/TheBiteShot/Videos -
I understand about the food. When Tim was sick it was whatever I could get him to eat and for him, it was peanut butter GF toast and sliced oranges. Some black coffee at times. He's better now but back then he could barely eat.
I get that cooking/baking is not your thing. It's not fun for everyone to spend hours in the kitchen or even five minutes. I get that. I'm the other way though. I can and have spend from sunrise to sunset playing in the lab/kitchen. Muwhahahahaha.
Enjoy your new camera! The cake sounds yummy.
ReplyDeleteThanks! How goes Grandma life? You babysit often?
DeleteCinnamon Apple Upside Down Cake sounds lovely. Do you have a place where you're publishing your recipes?
ReplyDeleteHey Kathy! I am finally back to working on the bake book (oven fixed - so happy). I will publish some here and then if I move to a recipe page, which is likely, I'll share that with you guys too. Thank you so much for asking. You made my day ๐
DeleteThe apple cake sound yummy. Glad you are back to snapping pictures.
ReplyDeleteCathy
Thanks, Cathy. I'm a snap happy fool. Fool, I say. Fool. It's wonderful.
DeleteYou are so good at working things out...whether it's a broken oven, broken camera, or space. No doubt you will have things moving along in no time... The cake does sound Goooood. Would love to know where to find your recipes...
ReplyDeleteThank you for the support and kind words. The studio is still a bit of a baffle though getting better. So close. So close.
DeleteLOOOOOOOOVED all the autumn in your posts. Such a great time of year. Loving it. Outside right now enjoying the fall sun and falling leaves.
Ahhh... the good life.
Your cake sounds very tasty, and please share some of those photos. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteHey Erika! Many, many more pictures to come!
DeleteThis is terrific. The cake sounds wonderful and even better news about the camera. I'm all for every fall photo ever so I hope you share here!
ReplyDeleteHey Jeanie! Is this not a wonderful time of year or what? So nice. Loving it too.

ReplyDeleteDoing a little boogie, I am. Thanks, Rose.
DeleteSo glad to hear you're enjoying the camera and are back to Happy Whisk.
ReplyDeleteThe cake sounds delicious. It's perfect for this time of year.
Have a great day!!
So yummy. Made another one new bake today and it's almost gingerbreadeeee, or would be if I added a few more spices. Yum.
DeleteHappy new-to-you camera!
ReplyDeleteThank you bunches. I'm over the moon to shoot again. Was three WHOLE days without. Well, I mean I used my phone camera during those days but the camera is back and I'm excited. I read that you have many good places to eat near you. I WISH we did. We just don't. Sadly.
Deleteget out and play with that new camera. Learning it and playing with it is always fun
ReplyDeleteHey Pam! I just got the same camera I already had that way I could keep the lenses. LOOOOOVE my lenses.
DeleteYay for you to have a new camera! We will all benefit from it! LOL I would love to hear more about that cake!
ReplyDeleteHey Billie Jo. I'm working on another draft of the cake and when it's done I'll publish it or do a video or both. Will keep you posted but in the meanwhile, very easy. Just remove the apple skins, slice and coat in cinnamon and whatever sugar (or none), and line the bottom of the bake dish with bake paper and apples. Or no bake paper if you fancy. Depends on your dish. Then pour the batter over and bing, bam, boom. Apple Upside Down!
DeleteEnjoy your new to you camera. I am looking forward to seeing all the wonderful photos you will take.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you, Jackie. I'm a snap happy fool!
DeleteHello Ivy
ReplyDeleteThe cake does sound good, with a lovely Autumnal taste...perfect.
So happy you are back taking photographs and I do like your new header.
Phew! Thank goodness you are no longer The Grumpy Spatula but are now and back to being The Happy Whisk :)
Enjoy the rest of the week.
All the best Jan
Thanks, Jan! Love this time of year. Wishing you a yummy fall as well.
Deletelol on The Grumpy Spatula. That's what Tim calls me if I get grumpy. He cracks me up.
I am excited at the thought of seeing all your photos :) cake sounds incredible. Tim has a wonderful sense of humor but then so do you. Thanks for all the smiles you give.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Denise! I love taking them. Cake was gooood. Does need an adjustment but still, very, very tasty. Thank you for the kind words. Yes, Tim cracks me up. He's a hoot and a half.
DeleteOh that cake sounds so good and vegan too? Can't wait to see recipes..
ReplyDeleteHey Judee - All of my dessert bakes are free from cow and egg. Though all are not free from honey. Easy enough to swap out. Thanks, I'm excited to share them next year. This cake was yummy though needs a few adjustments. Still, really happy with the first draft.
DeleteYour cinnamon apple upside down cake sounds fantastic. Have not had an upside down cake in a while. I do love baking cookies and cakes during this time of year. Sounds like you are having fun taking pictures lately. Enjoy, and Happy Autumn season!
ReplyDelete~Sheri
