Whew, whew, whew. I'm POOPED. Pooped, I say, pooped. Also, my brain is FULL because I had three days of training, an hour drive each way.
I'm tired.
It's a good tired though because I learned soooo many things at the training and in doing that, resparked my energy for work. I love learning new things then using those new things in real life.
In baking news, popovers, popovers and more popovers. Delightful. Next batch I'm trying fresh herbs to see how that goes. So far I've baked spicy, salty, everything bagel mix, not dogs (fake hot dogs) with non-dairy cheese, cinnamon maple sugar, pumpkin spice and good old salt and pepper.
So yummy.
Lastly, a loooooong time ago when the world was flat I featured Friday Question with prizes. Bringing that back today.
Friday Question: When eating popovers, which combos sound good? To everyone who answers, I award three broken pieces of glass, a paper clip and one rotten toe.
Friday Question:
Spicy
Salty
Sweet
Savoury
Raspberry
Strawberry
Blueberry
Blueberry Lemon
Pumpkin Spice
Cinnamon Spice
Everything Bagel Mixture
Onion
Onion & Cheese
Hot (or not), Dogs with Cheese
Pepperoni & Cheese
Plain Salt & Pepper
Cranberry
Herb-Style
Garlic 'n Cheese
Sweet cinnamon spice would be my perfect combination for a popover. I haven't had any pastries in a while unless they were the low carb, low calorie kind because of my diabetes. I finally have it under control and don't want to mess things up again. Ugh. A popover sounds good though. lol
ReplyDeleteCongrats Mary! Wonderful to have blood sugar under control. Are you able to eat bean-based flours? How about berries and low-sugar berry bakes? Would those be on your safe list? If so, there may work. Not sure?
DeleteYeah I could eat stuff that was low in sugar and carbs.
DeleteThat's cool. Congrats on doing the work.
DeleteI had to look up popover, it's similar to our Yorkshire pudding. I would choose garlic and cheese for savoury and blueberry for sweet. Glad your training went well.
ReplyDeleteYes, similar though mine don't sink and I don't use traditional flour. No gravy either, though that probably tastes excellent too.
DeleteHaven't had popovers in years - there used to be a restaurant here that specialized in them - both sweet and savoury. I think I'd like a blueberry/lemon mixed with some cranberries!
ReplyDeleteHow neat that a place made all kinds. That's how we roll in our kitchen. Very fun. Adding cranberry with the lemon blueberry sounds yummy. Thanks.
DeleteStrawberry! I'm on a strawberry kick.
ReplyDeleteStrawberry is getting a lot of votes! Excited to give that one a try. Thanks, Boud!
DeleteHerb style and Garlic and cheese. I'll be awaiting my prizes.
ReplyDeleteThree prizes coming up in 3... 2... I...
DeleteHello dear how are you???
ReplyDeleteHi Gloria! Long time no talk. Are you back to blogging? How are you? Are you still baking yummy things?
DeleteTo answer your Friday Question -- they ALL sound good to me! Have a restful but fun weekend, Ivy!
ReplyDeleteThen I shall teleport them all to you! Thanks, I had to do a six day work week, though two of the days were short shifts, so not bad. Off all day Sunday so tomorrow is free and clear.
DeleteDunno what a Popover is?
ReplyDeleteSimilar to Yorkshire Pudding in some ways.
DeleteGosh its been a while since I tripped over to your side of blogland. So in your list of flavors and/or mixtures/combos I would say, you can never go wrong with onion and garlic! But for sweets, anything with sugar...lol....Cinnamon and apple, with butter. Crap, now I need something sweet to eat.
ReplyDeleteHi Pam! Wonderful to see you. Onion and garlic, yum. Tim loves putting butter on his. Thank you for stopping in today.
DeleteYummy! All of them
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine!
DeleteI bet your brain is ready to explode with all that info! And that was a lot of driving too.
ReplyDeleteI've never made popovers but they sure sound good. I would choose strawberry!
My brain is full! For sure. Strawberry, I bet will work well. Excited to try that one.
DeleteYou don't mention apple which would be my sweet choice and the garlic and cheese for a savoury choice.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I left out apple. Funny thing, I was drinking an apple drink at the time I wrote the blog. What might work are those dry apple cider packets. Using that or even straight up apple cider. Dried apple dust too could work. It'll be fun to play. Even a plain popover with apple butter.Yum!
DeleteGarlic and cheese...we love garlic...
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the training!
hugs
Donna
Hi Donna! We love garlic too! Huggs.
DeleteI can't pick just one flavor for the popovers. I like all those flavors. I would have to start at the top of the list and work my way down.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann! Starting at the top of the list and working down sounds good.
DeleteI don't think I have ever had a popover. I lean towards savoury these days. Garlic onion and cheese.
ReplyDeleteSimilar to a Yoreshire, though mine don't sink and I don't use traditional plain flour. In that area though, a little bready treat. Lots of fun to make.
DeleteCinnamon spice and strawberry for me right now as its breakfast time. Or herb style for dinner. Have fun. I do love a good popover and I need to be adventurous whenever I make mine I think. :)
ReplyDeleteThere are so many fun combos. Hope you get to play and be adventurous.
DeleteBaking. Yum. All those flavors sound good. I tend to like a variety of savory flavors most.
ReplyDeleteSavoury is a good choice. I'm a savoury breakfast person. Are you as well?
Deletethis is easy and I get no prize. I have never eaten a pop over or even seen one. I looked them up to make sure I had never eaten one and did not know it. yep, never had one and I don't have to pick because with IBS I could not eat any of these. IF I could I would go sweet and any fruit
ReplyDeleteThe great thing about popovers is they are made, at least in my kitchen, many, many different ways. I don't make mine the traditional way.
DeleteSalt & Pepper for me! Hope you are having a relaxing weekend from what sounds like a very busy week.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia! The salt and peppers ones are yummy. Yes, six days on this week. Flew by quick.
DeleteI like sweet and would probably like a cinnamon and sugar. Actually, I do not even know what a pop over is. Glad you finished your training. Now you can relax.
ReplyDeleteHey Judee! No relaxing just then as I still had two more days of work after the trainings. Cinnamon Sugar is a good one.
DeleteOnion and cheese
ReplyDeleteThat's a good combo!
DeleteI would like to make a popover. Those combinations sound really good. Mine would be Everything Bagel with Onion and Cheese. Sounds like a busy week. You deserve to put your feet up.
ReplyDeleteThe everything bagel ones are excellent. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteHow about cream cheese Popovers? - sounds Yummy. : )
ReplyDelete~Sheri
Hi Sheri! I open mine and use a non-dairy cream cheese. Goes great with raspberry jam. Delightful!
DeleteIt would depend on the mood...onion is always good at the end of the day...but to start the day, how about a lemony cream cheese!
ReplyDeleteWe love lemon at our house. Sounds like a perfect way to start the day.Thanks.
DeleteI am definitely a fan of popovers. I would go more with the sweets...and lemon/blueberry would be my top choice.
ReplyDeleteThanks Shug! Drinking lemon water right now. But that lemon would be yummy.
DeleteSounds like you are busy, busy, busy.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of you the other day when talking about Halloween with granddaughter ... who can't wait 'til 31 October!!!
Like the sound of the popovers.
For me savoury is best for breakfast.
All the best Jan
Hi Jan! So fun that your granddaughter enjoys Halloween! Same with me. For breakfast, I'm also savoury. I love soups in the morning! Thanks for stopping in.
DeleteI didn't know what a popover was until I looked it up. Now that I know what it is, most of those combinations sound good. Some days I'm a savoury girl others I'm partial to a little sweetness. Today is a savoury day.
ReplyDeleteI totally get that! Thanks for popping in.
