GROGGY AS FUDGE

I was all set. Wake up. Take on the world. Kickbutt.

That didn't happen.

In better news, we got a LOAD of cleaning done over the weekend and didn't spend a penny at ALDI or on delivery.

I'll take that as a win.

As for today, I'm moving zombie-like as I sort clothes to donate or maybe turn into dog beds. Not sure yet? I also have a HUGE yellow bean bag that we bought last year when Tim was sick. Now, it's just in the way. I might half the bag into two smaller dog beds. Easier to move and clean. Me thinks.

Dunno yet.

For snack time it's a toss between cinnamon, spelt, chia, flax, maple pecan pancakes or warm potato salad.

I will need a trip to ALDI again soon, just not today. Gotta rebuild the house account and every penny counts. Making food stretch, stretch, stretch is my jam.

Lastly, today's cartoon ...

    1. They were very good. Made them again today only ground nuts and seeds (pecan/pumpkin seeds), and used that as part of the flour. So fun. Using things up and making good eats.

      How went your day?

    1. Hi Jan!

I rested when I had the headache and slept a lot of it off. After that, I needed to sort clothes. It's how I get back to feeling better. Slow and zombie-like wins the race!

Loved the leeks in your last post! Delish.

    1. Hey Sue!

I rested when I had the headache. Tim gave me an ice pack before he left for work and then I slept until NOON. Noon, I say noon. After that though, even being a zombie, I really needed to sort clothes. Even slowly, it's what helps me get better.

    1. Do you ever just empty every bit of clothing onto the top of the bed? It's so fun that way. Then I pull out what I know I love and discard the rest. Donate or give away.

  10. It's amazing how you can stretch food if you want to. Sometimes I see if I can make a meal for 4 for under $10!! Hope you are feeling better soon.

    1. Oh yeah, I agree Judee! And it's fun. Or at least I think it's fun to make things stretch and see what I can make with just what's here. Love your challenge of 4 meal for $10 - that sounds like somethng I want to try! Fun stuff. Thanks for the idea.

Yes, that's the same with me. I am okay with doing some work in zombie-mode. It helps me come back to normal. Oh no, sorry your Aldi isn't near by. What other stores like that do you have in your area? We have a Trader Joe's only it's 45-60 mins out.

  13. Stretching the budget is what we've been doing a lot too lately. Trying to save every penny we have and make the most of what we've already got. Donating a lot of what we don't use. Trying to simplify life even more. One day at a time, we'll get there. Hugs, my friend. Hope you're feeling better!

    1. Hey Theresa!

It's so cool to hear how many are stretching their budgets, money and food. Yes, same. If I don't use it, it goes. I have leftover work clothes from my most recent job outside of the house and a friend from work is taking them.

      No waste!

Happy airbnd to you guys this weekend. Sounds like soooo much fun!

  14. We are cognizant of food waste these days and waste little. It’s too expensive to waste for sure.

    1. Hellooooo Marie!

How are you feeling from the fall? Been thinking about you since I read your post the other day.

Agree, too expensive to waste for sure. Today I cleaned out the fridge and sad to say, some items did get wasted. Made a mental note about those items and onto my next Aldi trip.

      Hope you're feeling better.
      Big huggs, Me

  15. sometimes our plans just don't work out. Great idea to make dog beds, I am thinking of making a new quilt for my cat that loves to lay on and under them, and I don't let them use my good quilts because they scratch them too much, using old clothes for them is a good idea :)

    1. Hi Connie!

That's true and I'm okay with things not always working out. Ended up having a pretty nice day, even if I was zombie-like, sorting clothes.

I love that you're thinking of making a cat quilt. That's a great idea. Tim's (hubby) gram made one for our old dog. Matching quilts! What a hoot.

      Thanks for stopping by today.
      Happy Crafting!

  16. Great idea to repurpose clothes and bags into dog beds! I wish I had that talent. We are doing the same trying to make groceries last longer - prices have just gone up too much not to.

    1. I like when the items don't have to go to waste. Spoke to a co-worker from my last job today. She's gonna take my old work clothes. That's a win.

Yes, so good to make that food stretch. I enjoy that though. I enjoy the challenge of that. Do you enjoy putting things together to make things stretch?

  17. I love the idea of turning a beanbag into 2 dog beds. We're also trying to stretch out groceries, eating less meat and eating lots of leftovers, even though the hubby would rather not. He's being good about it though. I just hate throwing out food when it costs so much to buy. I hope the headache goes away soon, and maybe its even gone now. That would be good. I hope you have a good start to the new week Ivy. hugs-Erika

    1. Hi Erika!

It's a huge bag too. Six foot long. Was great when we needed an extra place to sleep, now though, just in the way. Well, Wiggy loves it - though a smaller one she'll love too.

      Thanks, headache gone!

Glad to read that your hubby is being good about it. I knew someone once and her hubby flat out would not eat anything leftover. Not even soups and sauces.

Here's to a wonderful rest of your week. Huggs, Me.

  18. So sorry about the headache, seasonal allergies? My cat Lola gets headaches and hides away where it is dark with no light at all for a day or two, then I coax her to drink a little water, then maybe a lick at her food and she comes good again.
I'm trying to stretch my food too, by freezing and eating smaller portions, everything is more expensive now. It sure is helping with the weight loss!

    1. Hey River!

I think it's because I'm not eating the junk food anymore. Not for sure. Then I thought maybe I wasn't drinking enough water so I made sure I had more of that.

Yes, so agree on stretching the food. I love that bit though. I find the challenge of it fun.

      Congrats on the weight loss!

  20. that is how my head feels, like my brain is the kind of fudge that is hard, really hard. I am minus my thinking/writing/humor. can't seem to write anything at all. even this comment. one of my favorite ways to stretch food is making stir fry from all things left in small containers before they turn to mush

When I would say or do something really off the wall I would say it was my "lack of oxygen to the brain" moment! Maybe tomorrow you can rise and KICKBUTT!

  31. Sorry to hear you are feeling groggy but at least the headache is gone. Thankfully I don't suffer with the little groobers but I know folks who do and they sound terrible.
I to have to start wading through clothes and donating to a charity shop or just something constructive with them, plus my craft stuff - half of it never sees light of day now so what am I doing holding on to it?
Hope you feel better now and getting caught up.
