GOOD THINGS - STUDIO IN PROGRESS

Hello Monday! Hello World! Here's some good things going on in my world, today. I'd love to hear what's going on in yours. Let's kick things off.

First up, most of my veggie garden seeds are ordered and have shipped. We also increased the food pantry from five to six shelves, along with tucking a small bookshelf of tinned goods under my workbench. AND dun, dun, dun, I started sprouting lentils.

Never did it before. Learning and tasting as I go and after 12 hours, the lentils already have a good yummy crunch. So excited to see them sprout. Then to sprout other things.

Do you sprout?

In other news, my missing front(ish) tooth will remain that way for a bit longer. My 3D image was considered non-essential and the appointment was canceled. Not a complaint. I'm fine waiting. For now, I'm a chick without a front tooth, living in a rural area, about to start a fun veggie garden.

Life is good. Pictures to come.

Lastly, with the fridge and upper cupboards long out of the kitchen, I finally pushed the workbench (aka kitchen table), against the wall and that makes filming SO MUCH EASIER. Pure heaven. But ... the wall is still red and damaged so I'll fix that. But for now I'm shooting any time of day, because film gear gets to stay up 24/7, which is something that I've wanted for a long time. Very, very happy to have this space.

And that my Boogerbutts, is all that's fit to print. Stay safe, be kind to each other and look out for each other. These are messed up times but even in the midst of the mayhem, good things can still be a thing.

Hugs & Bugs,
-Me

    1. Hi Alex. That's okay, I don't mind about the tooth.
It was pulled out in early December and eventually, I've have a new one.
Thanks, me too. So easy to shoot.
Have fun with the movies at home. I do love that, that's an option.
      Stay safe and be well.

Happy gaming with guy goobers, coming up. Very cool.
      Are you cooking these days?

  3. Ahhh! You remind me! We have pumpkin seeds! When the cold is over I will "secretly" plant them in our garden (party of 14 here, so notreally "ours").

Outchy, say hi to my older Niece she lost a bit of her front tooth in a bike accident (it´s OK now).

Hey, you took a pic of our kitchen?!! ;-)

    1. Hi Iris. That's cool that you share a garden. Is it a community garden?
We have some pumpkin seeds to plant too. The last time we did those was forever.
And they were Tiny Tim Pumpkins. No wait, I don't know if that's the right name.
Jack-be-littles, that's the name. What else are you planting this year?

    1. Hi Kathy and welcome to my little corner of the world.
Here's to the crown getting done in time.
I really don't mind about the 3D image xray.
Right now, spending extra money on a tooth is not on my wish list.
Happy Painting and great to see you. Cheers, Ivy.

    3. Agreed. I've been toothless since early December.
I can go a bit longer. Stay well, Kathy. Nice to have you here.

  5. All I want for Christmath ith my two front teeth... (sorry, it had to be done). Never sprouted anything. It's been forever since I've started seeds. Wish I had some potting soil and seeds right now. Hope the tooth thing isn't too much of a pain right now. I imagine all the dentists are only doing emergency type stuff right now. -Jenn

    1. ..."My two front teeth, my two front teeth." Now the song is stuck in my head. Ha! That's funny. No, not too bad. In early December I had five teeth yanked and so the front one has been missing since then but really, it's not bad. Just a tooth. The important thing is no infections came of it and right now, I don't want the rest of the surgery anyway, just in case. Thanks, Jenn. Stay well and be safe.

  7. I LOVE your attitude. I DO hope you get your tooth sooner than later....but you did make me laugh with the fact that you're missing a front tooth and you live in a rural area. ;)
I can't wait to see the pics of your veggie garden; that really is always an exciting time and much to look forward to. YAY for a dedicated 24/7 filming spot for you. Woot woot!!

  8. My partner's dental appointment has been pushed back because his dentist is unwell - and being tested for Covid 19. I hope both of you get the treatment you need sooner rather than later.
Hooray for home planting and happy productive times.

I am not in any pain. No infections. No issues. I'd like to keep it that way.
Sorry your dentist is sick. Hope not for long.
Is your partner is pain? I hope not.

  10. I've sprouted mung beans a couple of times. Don't remember why I stopped, but last week I cooked the last of the mung beans in a curry.

    Replies
    1. Hi Kathy. I had a bag of mung beans awhile back but this was pre-pressure cooking days.
As for curry, I recently started using a non-salt curry mix and oh my gosh, I LOVE IT.
What kind do you like? I'm still learning about them.

  14. I don't grow sprouts or eat them raw because of the bacterial risks - salmonella, listeria, e-coli. I do like them cooked, though, and they're safe that way. Take care, Ivy, especially if you have a compromised immune system. (I'm vaguely remembering you had some medical issues??)

I actually feel your red wall is very artistic and avant-garde as a filming background. It looks "on purpose" to me!

I'm sorry about your postponed dental work. But - priorities, we got 'em right now :)

    1. Hi Jenny. That's a good point that I didn't consider. Thank you.
I will look into it some more. I don't mind cooking them.

Thank you about the wall. That's part old dry wall trailer wall paper.
Part red cafe paint, part where fridge was and part, I just wanted to paint Tim's name.

That's okay about the tooth. It's okay with me. Safety of everyone is more important.
Plus, I'm started to really rock this front tooth missing, look.

  24. You are staying busy! Which is what we need to do! I hope we get our seed order placed today, it sounds like the demand is on these companies now as well, so the sooner we order the better! So many of our plans for this year have changed, including that we are going to get more chickens now! That addition to our farm may happen today :) Be safe! <3

  31. My colonoscopy was considered non-essential and got cancelled, but my husband gets his in 2 weeks. I'm the one with a chronic illness, so I don't get it. But, life goes on. Sorry about your tooth. Hopefully, things will resume back to normal soon and you'll get it fixed.

    1. Hi Theresa. I'm sorry yours was canceled and that you have a chronic illness. Have you had it all your life? Thanks about the tooth. We decided to just wait a bit longer. Hubby is working right now but all it takes is for him or one of the other skeletons working to get it, and the job shuts down for 14 days. So ... I kinda want to hold onto everything we can right now. Well, as much as possible. Garden bed materials still arriving.

      Delete
    2. No, I've only had ulcerative colitis since I was 24, so 16 year. I am supposed to get annual colonoscopies to monitor it, but who knows if I'll get one this year or not.

Understandable to wait on the tooth. If it's not bothersome, I'd probably hold out as well. These uncertain times surely make us reevaluate what needs to be done asap and what can actually wait.

      Delete
    3. Yeah, we have to hold off because it's a lot of money and we want to keep that money for in case Tim can't work. No pain. I don't know much about ulcerative colitis but I hope you get your checkup soon. I hope you're not in pain.

      Delete
    4. No, no pain here either so no harm in waiting, I suppose. Fingers crossed Tim is able to remain active with his work. I think that's another reason why I really want to start my own garden. With the economy the way it is, I want to be able to grow and can most of our produce. That will be really helpful if we stumble upon hard times.

      Delete
    5. Thank you. Yes, same. Well, it started for me as wanting to save money (I used to have a garden where I lived before), but with Covid, I find it's even more important to grow from home. Are you doing beans? I'm doing stuff that I can dry and carry into winter too. Tim went to the store today, got beans and lentils and I'd like to just have our own. That'd be cool. Glad you're not in pain.

I do indeed sprout HW, but all flower sproutage :) I have over 100 jonquil bulbs awaiting planting for spring, unfortunately summer seems reluctant to leave WA this year, so they will have to wait a bit longer.. just subscribed to your YouTube cooking channel, looking forward to looking through your recipes ✨ Happy weekend.
