I'm hauling ass this week to finally finish my re-declutter. The last time I did a declutter this BIG and went through every category all in one swooop, was during The Great Declutter of 2016. A decade later I'm doing a re-declutter by category and it's going well.
Real well.
In other news, dig my new Creative Grids 60 Degree Equilateral Triangle used for hexagons (and other shapes). It's so cool. Friday I'm getting the XL Stripology one which does a million things, like makes patches, jelly rolls and triangles at bionic speed.
But, if you wanna see how make hexagons with the 90 degree ruler seen below, here's a video from The Sewing Studio .
In other, other news, dig these flannel fat quarters from Dollar Tree. Some of the Dollar Tree fabric sucks and some doesn't. Win some. Lose some. And while I LOVE my local quilt shoppe the most, I also wanted hexagon practice flannel from Dollar Tree. For a buck twenty-five, I can hexagon my heart out before moving to the quilting fabric.
And that my Boogerbutts is all that's fit to print. Thanks for reading and I'll be back as soon as I'm done with The Great RE-Declutter of 2026.

Love the 'sewing break' cartoon! I admire a gal who can declutter the whole house without losing heart. Can you come by when you are finished? I'll bake a cake...x K
ReplyDeleteDear Ivy, I love the cartoon ♥️
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the best, dear friend.
The hexagons are so pretty. I hope you post photos of them when you make them!
ReplyDeleteSo you have had a clean up and over it now.
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky to buy fabric, we only have one place that sells it down here - no choice at all.
I rarely go in that store but I don't recall ever seeing fabric.
ReplyDeleteDid you really accumulate that much in the past ten years?
WOW a whole hour of cleaning without a sewing break. I'm impressed. The Dollar Tree fabric is good for practicing on. Better to mess up the cheap fabric than the expensive quilting fabric.
ReplyDeleteDe-Cluttering is a dangerous thing, make sure you don't throw out hubby's fav pants (underwear for the Americans!)
ReplyDeleteIsn't sewing fun? Hard to walk away from, even to clean! lol
ReplyDeleteLove your photos!!
hugs

I am going to tackle my closet soon! It needs a major clear-out! You inspire me!
ReplyDeleteAwesome post!
ReplyDeleteI do a lot of winnowing, so I'm definitely with you there. I didn't know my local dollar store might have fabric. I must check.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how 'stuff' creeps back in after a good decluttering.
ReplyDeleteWe've been decluttering too. It never seems to end!
ReplyDeleteHappy hexagoning!
Love these images
ReplyDeleteI seem to be in a constant decluttering. Either I have a LOT or I don't do a good job to begin with. I like the new header and the cartoon. Ivy.
ReplyDeleteLove the header and the cartoon. You are so creative. Good luck on your clean out.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, and I am doing some of the same ... cleaning ... because we have a house project coming up in April.

I have not seen a seam since 1959 when I ripped the dress I was making in half in home ecomincs class and got and F. How Mean she was. LOVE the shot of the flannel, and I had no idea they have flannel in Dollar Tree, of course have not been in a year. I truly do not know what a hexagon is or how to use one. What I do know is I love to come here and see how HAPPY you are with all your fun tasks, and enjoy your joy that comes out of your post each time I come...
ReplyDeleteSo smart to practise on cheaper material first before moving to the good stuff!

ReplyDeleteI know this (terrific) feeling! Signed, a boogerbutt, lol.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what you make. I have only ever made one quilt and it was all squares.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a cute little cartoon at the end and it is signed by none other than Ivy herself. Adorable. I did the declutter thing back in October and wow...I had no idea I had that much stuff since the last decluttering event. I'm always looking forward to see what you are doing next. Love the photos...
ReplyDeleteI like your flannel banner fabric. You're spot on with dollar tree. You've done massive decluttering. I did two filling cabinet drawers. No one can tell.
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely that you have some practice fabric, and very pretty practice fabric at that. Very cute cartoon and congratulations on the decluttering. My decluttering is moving very slowly, but at least I am moving forward on it.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
The flannel fabric is gorgeous! I'd be making a blanket or a coat. I am also re-decluttering, with a slightly different style. I decluttered my books shelves, but now have an extra two dozen books from a neighbour who decluttered HER bookshelves, and my method now is to read each one and then donate it to a community library.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are going to have fun. And good for you to get so much cleaning done and not take a sewing break. I am really impressed. And like your new fabric too. :) Have a great rest of your week.
ReplyDeleteWell . . . I've done some sorting, I wouldn't call it de-cluttering but I'm pleased with it :)
ReplyDeleteYour Great RE-Declutter of 2026 sounds very business-like.
I do like the look of the fabric in your header photograph and your cartoon made me smile :)
Enjoy the rest of your week.
All the best Jan
Wow! Impressive Ivy! Pretty fabric and a lovely photo. Your cartoons always make me smile.
ReplyDeletegotta' love dollar tree!! i have gotten great cotton yarn there for making washcloths!! pretty fabrics, at our dollar stores, it is always hit or miss!!
ReplyDeleteHow wise to practice on cheap fabric first. What would we do without Dollar Stores?
ReplyDeleteThe Banner is beautiful. I put my minifigure away for a bit for another thing that is going on. LOL, I used to collect fabric and hunt all the scrap bins for sewing.
