WORDLESS (wordy) WEDNESDAY #9

Welcome to another not so Wordless Wednesday. Brought to by me, someone who can't stop using words.

True story.

Also, today is not Monday.

Also a true story.

In other news, I wanna turn the bedroom into a winter reading wonderland. So far my idea is to include snowflake lights and books. That's as far as I've gotten.

Suggestions and ideas welcome.

In other, other news, I tried saying wordless wordy Wednesday ten times fast and I couldn't do it. But I did a little better saying, wordy wordless Wednesday.

And that my Boogerbutts, is all that's fit to print.

  1. Sounds like a great idea, a snowy winter getaway all your own. I think you can buy strings of lights that are shaped like snowflakes on Amazon.

    1. Thank you, Ginny. I was waiting for DG to have their snowflake lights to go on sale and it never occurred to me to check Amazon. Much, much thanks for the idea. I love snowflake lights. And fairy lights too.

    1. Thank you, Catherine! Both sound great. I do have a little Snowman wax melt that plug in. I am on the hunt for more candles. Ohh, or maybe even those pretend candles that look real but aren't. Oooooo. This is gonna be fun.

    1. Yes! Snuggly blankets for when I fall asleep reading. I'll get all tucked in, have my book and before I know it, zonked out. Thanks, Ann!

  6. Buy a projector that throws snowflake lights on the ceiling. We have one that makes stars. They have them on Amazon for decent prices.

  8. I think this is a fabulous idea Ivy.. And..I figure once you get that room all cozy and comfy, you will want it to stay that way. The snow flake lights sounds very pretty and relaxing.. You must show us this room once you are finished.. Great idea from Alex. I can see it now!!

  9. And you'll need a comfy, fleecy throw for your reading chair. And a side table to put your hot chocolate with marshmallows and a candy cane in it.

  14. love that cute girl reindeer with the red Polk dot bow... good idea to have a reading room, you have a baking/photography kitchen, so why not snowflake lights to read by.. everyone has great suggestions, but all I need is light to see and can even do it in the dark because its a kindle, and I don't do anything else while reading, no eating or drinking or looking around. I dive into the book and am THERE until I surface.. I have always propped up on the bed to read, and put my feet up...

    1. Hi Sandra! That's Rudolph's girlfriend. So cute.

My bad for the confusion. I'd be able to see with booklights, lamps and if I use the ereader. The fairy lights and snowflakes are only for show. That's good that you found a way to read that works for you. I do admit, I love a good hot drink to go with, it's all snuggly and fun. Though if it's right before bed, then no drink, otherwise I'd be peeing all night and that's not fun!

  19. That is a great idea. Big snuggly blankets as Ann said, and I'd add big comfy pillows to sink into when you settle down to read. Loving your header photo again and that last one. Your photos are so sharp and vibrant, and fun, along with the stick people. I just love them.

  20. HaHa ...funny tongue twister.
A special reading room would be so nice. My reading room is my recliner in the family room. Pretty snuggy for me.
After having company last night and all that that entailed, today is mostly a veg out day. I did get the bed linens changed and a load of clothes in the washer, so that's good and I finished putting away all the do-dads from dinner. My friends cleared the table and washed all the by hand stuff for me...bless them for that.
It was a good night but photo taking took a back seat. some of our group was going through some hard stuff and the camera didn't seem appropriate.
So I don't have additional Blog Fodder.
I'm glad you liked my Charlie Brown Tree.

    1. It really was twisting my tongue for sure, Sue.

Sounds like your vegout day was perfect. I had that this weekend as well. Love those days. I love that you got the bedding done and your friend helped with the table and the rest. That's a HUGE help. Super duper cool.

I can understand about the photos taking a back seat. And when people are going through a hard time or, even just want that quiet time alone with no cameras, I get that for sure.

      LOVED your Charlie Brown tree!

  24. It does sound like a great idea, but I know I wouldn't be able to read without a decent light and strings of lights don't provide that. So I have a bedside lamp, but don't often read in bed these days.

    1. Hi River! Agreed. I only read with good light. My fave is outside to read only a bit too much snow for that today. The fairy lights and/or snowflakes are for decoration and mood. To read by we have light, booklights, a lamp and that sorta thing. Plus e-readers which are super bright too!

  25. I came to leave a message and just now noticed the elf shoes on your feet in the kitchen. I just love your drawings. I think most people do drink while reading. I started the propped in bed reading as a child, daddy was not a reader, and mother and I were, I would get out of daddy's sight to read because he fussed about us reading for hours, and then I married daddy's twin and he fusses about me reading, and I read in bed to get away from him... which is a sad story...
When I read I live the book and don't hear people when they talk to me... I only read fiction, I love stories.

    1. My elf shoes are super duper fun and comfy. lol. I wish I had them in real life. What a hoot.

Love your mom was super duper supportive of reading. I grew up reading in trees, bed, the closets anywhere I could find the quiet little place. Did you and your mom like to read the same kinda stuff? Or different?

  26. My Living Room is one such happy reading place. I have warm plush blankets, a light that connects to the book, Christmas lights on the tree, and most important of all....a very cuddly dog. We fall asleep blissfully and wake up when we feel like it. On the side of the couch, I have an old dynamite box that I use as a side table. My books and supplies can go in the box when I am done reading.
I have the cottage to myself now so I don't infringe on anyone else.

    1. Love that! Ours too, minus the pup for now. Both passed. How great is it to read near a Christmas tree? I just love that too. Super peaceful.

How cool on the old dynamite box - love that you turned it into a table. Useful and fun!

Tim and I are super duper similar in taste and space and usage. So that helps. I can't imagine the struggle if two people don't like the same thing. That sounds challenging.

Hope you had a great weekend. Be around next week to catch up!

  27. A winter reading wonderland sounds good and I like the idea of snowflake lights, just make sure that the lights are bright enough for you to be able to read comfortably... plenty of comfy cushions/pillow too.
Both your header photograph and your last one are brilliant.

    Have a happy day.

  30. I read through all of the suggestions, Ivy, and anything I would have added like a cozy wrap (snowflake design) and candles, battery operated or lit and lighting have already been suggested. All are great ideas to immerse yourself in a good book. Perhaps use a Kindle so you can have softer lighting which would be cozy but not necessarily good for reading.

    1. Snowflake fabric would be so fun! I agree on the battery operated lights. They had some at ALDI though likely gone now. Good price. But .. I couldn't see the flame part. So I passed. Will keep an eye out.

We do have e-readers, yes. They for sure have a place. And then for reading real books, I have a light, book light and lamp. Very nice. Though I'm in the middle of moving the furniture around now so we'll see how things land.

Winter is so fun. I'm excited to make the space more cozy.

  32. One fun decorative addition might be paper snowflakes made from pages of old books-- obviously not nice or good books but perhaps one that are falling apart and no longer really readable. Our libraries get rid of books like those for free and the pages would make fun snowflakes to add to a snowy/book room. What a wonderful cozy idea. I spend much of my winter reading by our wood stove.

    2. Oooh that sounds like a plan. What to add, well comfy pillows, snuggly rugs, a jar of nibbles in case you get peckish. How about an atomiser or reed diffuser so there's a lovely aroma.

    3. Hi Jo! I have a wax warmer - I've seen diffusers but don't know what a reed diffuser is. I do like good smells though. Thank you. I'll take a look at what those are.

  33. A winter wonderland bedroom sounds so nice and cozy. I would also add the twinkling lights. I will keep mine up after Christmas, as the winter season will begin soon. Another suggestion is lots of silver and white. I'd love to see it when you're finished. And that candy cane pic is delightful.

Have a merry and bright week.
