Yesterday, I wasn't able to do what I wanted so I switched gears and worked on my whitebox (for food photos). I'm having a terrible time with white backgrounds looking blue. If you know how to remove the blue, please drop me a note. Thanks.
Today, I've spent the morning on the couch, but I'm starting to feel better. Two years ago, if I had to stop and rest like this it might have made me cranky. But these days, I don't have that cluttered thinking.
Not too shabby.
PS: Made some killer draft 2 crackers last night. Chipotle, paprika, onion powder and fresh garlic. Oh my yum. So flippin' good.
What "flour" did you use for the crackers ?
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
I use a WIDE range of homemade and ready-made flours. But for DR2 I used spelt, homemade almond (store-bought sucks), and nutritional yeast.
DeleteSo much fun.
To get rid of the blue cast, try using a grey card.
ReplyDeleteSee? Sometimes I can be smart and know what to look for in Google. :)
Thanks. I'll give it a go.
DeleteOrange you glad you removed that clutter from your brain? I couldn't resist the pun with your gorgeous orange dress and pumpkin!
ReplyDeleteHaha. Yes!
DeleteI've had that same problem with the blue. It shows on some of the food photos I put up on my blog. One, florescent lighting will cast more blue on the final shot. Two, look for your white balance settings and play around in there.
ReplyDeleteAnd the crackers should delicious.
Thanks, Holly. I will go into settings and fool around. I use quilting lights, not sure if those are florescent.
DeleteIt sounds like your white balance is off. Adjust accordingly, depending on what kind of lighting you're using. A grey card is definitely a great option! Also, use the right metering. You might have to use spot metering or center weighted instead of evaluative, especially if you have a bright background. Try different meter modes in live mode and see what happens. And finally, dial up your exposure compensation. Increase it by +1 stop or even two to get the background to look white/brighter. Mmmm...that's all I can think of off the top of my head. I hope this helps! By the way, what kind of lighting are you using?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martha. You girls are super helpful. Will try your tricks as well.
DeleteMy lights are quilting lights that are meant to show the true colour of fabric. But, maybe not for food?
Anyway, I will try all your tips, even though you are using big words that I don't understand .. yet. But I shall learn.
If you need any help, email me, and send photos, which will show me your set up. I'd be happy to help out as best as I can. Sorry for the big words. I thought you knew all this terminology about the camera. Doesn't matter. It's easy to learn all this stuff and it'll help you take better photos when you are more familiar with manipulating your camera. Anyway, I'm here if you need me!
DeleteThanks Martha. You rock.
DeleteIsn't Martha great? Your crackers sound delicious!
ReplyDeleteStacy, Martha and Holly. All super duper helpful.
DeleteSaw your seeds on your blog. We used them again last night for my bake.
It's all in the attitude, Ivy. And you have a good one!
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteYou do look cosy on your couch.
ReplyDeleteSome people manage to get bright white looking bright white. Mine always goes yellow or dull beige. I think it is something to do with setting up a white sheet behind it or something, so I'm told. If you get a solution maybe you could let me know.
Thanks, Sheila. I played about with settings. I'll email you when I get it.
DeleteI'm always too pooped to clean. Conveniently.
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteCleaning is draining. No denying that. :)
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteI'm raising my hand. I'm tired of cleaning.
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie!
DeleteLove your attitude.
ReplyDeleteClean house, clean mind?
And ... uncluttered mind, uncluttered home.
DeleteI can't raise my hand on that one!
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteBoth hands raised here...feel better soon!
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteAlways too pooped to clean, I get someone else to do it. Hope you feel better.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteI am tired, very tired most days. Tonight I am going to bed early. I am done with cleaning so I am glad of that.
ReplyDeleteHope you rested well. Sorry about your mom. Five years. Wow.
DeleteThe Crackers sound nice? Right up my street infact!!! I know what you mean about blue backgrounds in photos, I seem to struggle with that most of the time as well.....not sure what the answer is???
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ray. Sounds like a common issue and if I get it solved, I'll do a post about it. Thanks.
DeleteWe're all crackers, back again!
ReplyDeleteWe are.
DeleteWelcome back!
Cluttered thinking--next on my list of decluttering projects!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun.
DeleteI spend very little time on my couch. It's not nearly as comfy as most but I've never been a couch potato more like bed potato
ReplyDeleteBed potato, I can see that. How about your wife? Which if any, is she?
DeleteThose sound like some spicy crackers! I wouldn't mind trying them though...love garlic!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're getting some good rest.
Thanks.
DeleteOnce my vlogs get going, crackers will be on there. I'm making so many.
Wow Ivy crackers with chipotle, paprika, onion powder and fresh garlic ... sounds good to me.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better and rested now.
All the best Jan
Thanks, Jan. I am.
