Even though I was super duper pooped most of the day, I still managed to get a big-ass pot of chicken soup made, and now I'm about to make my own version of TIMBITS. Those are little round doughnuts from Tim Horton's.
Only I don't want to pay Tim Horton's prices, so I'm going to give it a go here in my own little kitchen.
As for yesterday we ate at a new place, hit Barnes for a bit and then got a few freebies at Wegmans.
And now, it's time to put away all the good soup I made and get cracking on my next baking challenge.
PS: For those who remember, I never did make that baking contest deadline. But that's okay, I learned a few good things and I don't feel bad about missing it.
That's all from me. Cheers and boogie boogie.
Sorry you didn't make the deadline!ReplyDelete
Alex: That's okay. If I really wanted to make that deadline, I would have. But I learned a bunch, so that's good too.ReplyDelete
I have never been to Tim Hortons, but I'm a huge fan of the donut! Hope they turn out Whisk!ReplyDelete
Timbits, Donut Holes, they're all good and all EVIL! I eat too many of them. One turns into two, turns into 5, turns into...well, you get the idea. I can't seem to stop at one. Hope yours turns out good, or bad, if you have the same problem and I do.ReplyDelete
Anne: I had a breakfast sandwich there the other day. Enjoyed it. But some things, like the doughnuts, just don't taste good to me.ReplyDelete
Stacy: All evil :-) Then it's a good thing my batch only contained eight. We ate three each and two are being saved for tomorrow. Just to study shelf life.
Hope you had a groovy Sunday.
What a relief! I thought TIMBITS meant you had cannibalized your husband. The chicken soup reminded me of an idea I had for a brand of stock called "Chicken Soul for The Soup", capitalizing on the horrible self-help series.ReplyDelete
Never heard of Tim Horton and his Donuts? You can't beat a nice donut though!!ReplyDelete
I could do with a donut now!ReplyDelete
Mmmmmm...do-o-o-nuts! I would put Homer Simpson to shame.ReplyDelete
I'd be interested to see how those Timbits turn out. The aura that gets whipped up around big brand foods probably hides in most cases just how easy they are to riff off at home.ReplyDelete
Mm, that sounds good. I love soup season!ReplyDelete
Great to stop by and see what you're up to, and thanks for stopping by to visit me too. :)
No Tim Horton's around here, but I like the idea of donut holes.ReplyDelete
Spawn: Tim's nuts are safe :-)ReplyDelete
Are those chicken soup books still out in the world? My gosh, they had so many for awhile.
Ray: Tim Horton's is a Canadian shoppe. Their hot chocolate isn't too bad.
Lurker: Nice finger you gave Ray there. You guys are funny.
Suzan: They turned out completely different shaped then I thought, but really fun in flavor.
Porky: I hear Twinkies will be no longer. That's something I never tried to make at home, but should.
Nice to see you.
PK Hrezo: Me too. Love soup. Nice to see what you've been up to as well.
Southpaw: None around you either? Ours is 24 hours. I like the hot chocolate.
I have two scratchy throat, stuffy nose kids; so a big pot of chicken soup is on my *to do* list. Glad to know it was on yours too.ReplyDelete
Scribbles: I hope your little ones feel better soon. Thanks for dropping by.ReplyDelete
NOM! NOM! NOM! I would like to ask you to convert "big-ass" to metric, though:)ReplyDelete
Hanny: Hahaha. I think the conversion would be big-arse.ReplyDelete
Hanny: Or maybe even bloody big arse.ReplyDelete
Homemade donuts sounds yummy :DReplyDelete
My dear friendReplyDelete
Many-many thanks for so kind comment!!!!
Greetings and Kisses
Hi. I stalked... I mean, followed... you here from Marcy's blog. I've gotta admit, I was initially attracted by your avatar, because I've used a bunch of different Mrs. Potatohead-like images on my blog. (Never one quite like yours, though... I LOVE it.) Anyhow, I'm glad I visited. From what I've read of your posts, I really like your blog. Count me in as your newest groupie.ReplyDelete
magda: Greetings. You had wonderful pictures in your last post.ReplyDelete
Susan: What a nice comment. Thanks for stopping by. Loved the little stove in your last post.
Susan: They came out like cookies but still worked. Have a groovy weekend and boogie boogie.
It's almost un-Canadian of me to say, given that Tim Hortons is such an institution... but since I don't like coffee or doughnuts, I never go in there.ReplyDelete
William: Not a fan of their coffee either. Or, at least not when they first came to town. Maybe it's better now.ReplyDelete
I don't mind the hot chocolate.
with all this baking talk, how come you don't post pics of your baking? :) I'd love to see them in posts :)ReplyDelete
Dezmond: I have many times in the past. Just got a new camera though and am working on getting the focus for close up. Took a few shots over the weekend of my baked goods, but haven't been on Blogger to post.ReplyDelete
But you can go back posts and see many many goodies.
Thanks for asking. Hope your weekend was groovy.
Cheers and boogie boogie.
PS: Just about ready to pull out another batch of cookies now. The timer just gave me the five minute warning.
Can't wait to see them :) I will be guest posting with my recipes on a friend's cooking blog this December - hope you'll visit when I announce it :)ReplyDelete
