After a while, I love how it's possible to look at someone's notes/method.recipe and to be able to pick up on what will not work or is a crappy shortcut.
"Saute onions for 2 minutes until soft" is one of my faves. Yeah, you're really going to get a lot of flavor from onions after sweating them for a whopping 120 seconds.
Now THAT is a great way to organize recipes. LOL I especially love the CRAP section because it's my favorite word. =D Hope you have a fantasitc weekend. =D
Haha, that's a great cartoon. Yeah, my end results never look like the photos either, BUT I love me a good cookbook with photos--it really makes me want to cook certain recipes.
Those poses and expressions make me think of the sitcom Absolutely Fabulous.
I can't believe The Happy Whisk shares these sentiments - surely no dish is too difficult, everyone eats everything and it looks even better than in the original photograph?
I agree about the onions, for sure. Thanks everyone for stopping by. Glad you enjoyed the cartoon because it cracked me up. Until next time, Happy Eating and Happy Cooking.
I'm laughing so hard. I need you to come organize mine. The ones I hate are the ones that appear easy but so hard I'm ready to scream by the end because there's 50 million quarter teaspoons of different things and require multiple mixings. Those are followed closely by those that look nothing like the photo. Thanks for the Monday laugh :)
Hi Carol. Glad you had a good Monday laugh. Always important. I enjoyed your post today about first sentences. Until next time, Happy Eating. And, Happy Reading.
I like that last one - didn't look like the pic - cuz that's happened to me!
ReplyDeleteHehehe, very true.
ReplyDeleteCrap!

Very funny! We have a tv chef in the uk. Her food is wonderful on tv but everyone complained when they followed her recipe book!
ReplyDeleteOur stuff never looks as good as the photo.

ReplyDeleteI'm finally able to make my blog rounds and it's all ready time for another week to start. DANG IT ALL!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, your recipes are nothing like these. Mine, uh, er, yep. Though, I do make the effort.
Happy Sunday. Watchin' football?
Winter storm is headed our way. (Hubby heard the train.) SHEESH
I have several volumes of Crap.

ReplyDeleteAhha.. I love that last one!
ReplyDeleteSounds like how my kids would categorize my cooking!
ReplyDeleteThere should be a "feeling adventurous" category too. LOL
ReplyDeleteI like those!! I have quite a few that would fit in those categories :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked them. When Tim came across this cartoon I said, "there's my blog for the day."
ReplyDeleteHappy Eating, Guys. Great to see you all.
