IS IT LIDDED OR LIDED?

I freakin' LOVE the baking isle at HomeGoods. A few years ago I snagged a great deal on a lid-free Le Creuset. This thing bakes like a dream. Dream I say, dream. Only downside, no lid.

Well guess what my Boogerbutts, I finally found a Le Creuset with are you ready? Are you sitting down? A lid! Yeppers, scored me a lidded Le Creuset and I am one happy whisk.

Did the heavens just open and angels start singing? Because that's what's going on here this morning. And dig this, since I don't have to go to work until later, first thing I did this morning was pop in a test bake.

Hot dog.

Wait, is it lidded or lided? Or with lid? Really, I don't know. Either way, in about ten minutes I check the bake to see how she's doing. This Le Creuset has higher rim and that can change bake times. I'll let you know in the next post.

Meanwhile, I give you today's cartoon ....

  1. I am happy you are happy and I can't stop grinning. I had never heard of Home Goods until a few weeks ago when one of my people I talk to in Walmart each Saturday, I call them WM friends, told me she loved the store and to go there before I bought my kitchen rug. I walked in the door and thought this is not gonna turn out well. I was in there about 30 minutes walking up and down every aisle and when I walked out, I thought even if someone gave me a blank check to buy anything in the store I wanted, there is nothing I would buy.. I started to laugh out loud at the happiness pouring out of your post because I am thinking what I would love you would say OH NO... love you lots keep up the happy post. since I don't know if it's listed or lidded no one else will and we certainly know what you meant. no I did not know a higher side to a dish changes baking time. the only baking I have done is the frozen lasagna that I can't remember the name of.

    1. I get that! For a baker like me and being a cook too, there's soooo many good finds. Then there are spices and dried fruits and sometimes good deals on coffee and tea. However, I totally get it not being for you.

Yes, sometimes a higher or lower rim changes how things bake and for how long. Not always though, it just depends. For that bake I wrote about, the new bake dish was PERFECT. I might have had to add a few more minutes or so to the bake time, not bad.

      Wishing you a fun weekend!

    1. I’m happy you’re happy. I’ve not shopped the Homegoods store we have here - probably because it would only frustrate me since I’m a sucker for that kind of stuff but don’t have the “fun money” to spend.
I’m thinking the correct way to describe the casserole pan would be with lid. But hey, however you want to say it is cool with me. Cute post 😘

    2. Hey Debby! I go for the deals. You could for sure use this as a casserole dish though it's more of a square bake dish with lid. I'm thinking of all the fun bakes to come. Thanks for stopping by today.

  5. It's the little things that make a difference. I can be having a miserable day and then some little thing happens that turns it all around and brings joy. I love your lid story.

  6. I LOVE and miss HomeGoods. My favorite store. There isn't one here. I drove 55 minutes to another county and town. Getting a good deal like a Le Creuset is a good enough reason to shop there, lid or no lid.

    1. I would drive 55 minutes for sure. And then probably scope out the area. See what other fun places were there. Do you ever pop into locally-owned grocery stores? Those are fun.

  7. Le Creuset is SO expensive (but SO good) that finding a deal on it anywhere is a real occasion! I hope the lid fits both your baking dishes.

  12. I had no idea what a Le Creuset was. I had to google it. I don't know if it's lided or lidded but when I type the two lidded doesn't get the little squiggle line under it telling me it's spelled wrong. So lidded it is.

  17. I have a small Le Creuset with a lid and a larger "copycat" also with a lid. I rarely use them now, but it's getting colder here so maybe I'll haul out the little one and make a beef casserole. I didn't know they came without lids.

  19. I got a Le Creuset casserole for a wedding gift many moons ago. That casserole was amazing. Finally had to let it go due to the enamel wearing off I used it so much.

    God bless.

  23. Hi, Ivy! This post was lots of fun, and I love your bright and happy drawings. I have several Le Creuset items, ranging from a quart-sized pot to a Dutch oven. I've used them for years and wouldn't part with them. I hope your new baking dish turns out great! Have a happy week!

  25. I'm so glad you were able to score another piece of Le Creuset and with a lid this time! I LOVE Le Creuset and have several pieces - my favorite being my 7qt dutch oven. I use it all the time! I also like my saute pan and use it fairly often, too. What colors do you have? I have red, cream, and sea salt and I love them all!

    1. That Dutch oven sounds wonderful. I have a cream, I think it'scalled. That's the one with the lid. Then a smaller, or lower rimmed square red. And lastly an oblong black on the outside and tan inside. No lid. Haven't used that one yet. Will soon. What do you like to make in the Dutch Oven? That's on my list to get when I find a deal.

    2. I love to bake bread, make chili and soups especially in my dutch oven. Its's such a versatile piece. Oh, and it's a great size to boil pasta in. I even fry hamburgers in it as the sides are high enough so grease doesn't splatter everywhere. It's a great piece to have for sure! I forgot to mention that I also have a Le Creuset tea kettle in the cream which I also really like.

    3. I've seen the kettles. They're pretty. I'll give bread a go in mine. Maybe also spelt dinner rolls. Thanks, Julia. Here's to a yummy week.

    1. Thanks, Jun. Yes, they are expensive. I've only gotten them for a deal. They're called seconds. They have a little something off, that they can't qualify for the high-price. though the pieces themselves are good. Happy New Week.
