People ask me if I miss anything or if I regret letting go of 90 percent of my stuff.
No. I miss nothing. I regret nothing.
If I did, I'd write about it. Instead, I'm finding more can go. So far today, it's a duster, 8 CD's, a glass baking dish and a Rubbermaid container with lid. All things I originally wanted to keep but now, I'm happy to see go.
During this entire process I never put pressure on myself, I played by my own rules and I didn't get rid of something that I didn't want to let go of.
Also, I was ready.
All of those things, plus more, exploded into a new life. Which, I'll save for another post. Because it's time to crank the Halloween music and get a room ready to paint.
But before I go ....
For some reason I can't get into my hotmail account. I can see emails but can't open them. So thanks for your email! I just can't read past the Subject line! This has been going on for about a week now. xo
ReplyDeleteGourds?
What a pain in the pumpkin. How about the other account that we used to email on? I thought that was non-hotmail. Maybe that will work. Hope they get it fixed for you soon.
DeleteI see a new e mail from you in my inbox but I still can't open it. meh
DeleteI wrote in the subject line, only. That way you can read it. Ha!
DeleteHope it gets fixed for you soon.
Ivy, you are an inspiration. I may just get rid of everything in our storeroom!
ReplyDeleteHeirloom tomatoes masquerading as pumpkins.
ReplyDeletePersimmons?
ReplyDeleteADORABLE is what they are! My only real guess would be some sort of tomatoes :o)
ReplyDeleteI admire your "letting go-edness" and would love to declutter a bit. I think it's one thing I love about travel, is the forced simplification!
Is it enough to say "tomatoes" or do we have to know the kind too? You are the Decluttering Queen and I salute you!
ReplyDeletetomatoes!?
ReplyDeleteWe are glossy and beautiful and in my head at least are travelling incognito. I don't think tomatoes, the stem doesn't look right. Persimmons?
ReplyDeletePlastic pumpkins?
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I take it you no longer stock pile your supplies? I remember you having such fun shopping.
ReplyDeleteAs for what those red things are, I'm guessing tomato, because that's what they look like. If they're something else, then why are they masquerading as tomatoes?
Nooooo.
DeleteMy stockpile couponing days ended years ago. It was fun at the time but no thanks!
Gotta be some kind of tomato??
ReplyDeleteHey Ivy,
ReplyDeleteExactly, no regrets and we just move
on.
Munchkins dressed up as pumpkins? Yes? No? Get outta' town...:)
That's it, I'm about to take off. Okay, the plane's about to take off, eh...
Gary :)
Tomatillos?
ReplyDeleteI was going to guess some cross between tomatoes and peppers, but after reading the other answers, I'm going to have to agree with Intangible Heart's guess of persimmons.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're enjoying your minimalizing!
Lemons in disguise
ReplyDeleteSo cool about your purge and how well it's working for you! :)
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that they are persimmons.
Happy early Halloween!
I've been decluttering for a couple of years. Every time I tackle an area again I find I can get rid of more things in it.
ReplyDeleteI love those things! Persimmons!
ReplyDeleteI looked up persimmons but they don't have the same green top as yours, the top is flatter. Maybe you have special pointy-top persimmons?
ReplyDeleteI suppose I have some CDs that could go, but what if I suddenly wanted to listen to one and it wasn't there anymore?
It is wonderful that you have no regrets about clearing away stuff. I am the same way. And like I told you earlier, I am way overdue for another cleaning up. What's next on the tossing/donating list? Clothes? CDs? DVDs? Books? Cookware? Or are you all caught up with that? Isn't it amazing how things pile up and start to clutter? I'm feeling claustrophobic in my house as I write this and if you toured the place you'd think I'm nuts because it's already so minimalized! Well, one person's claustrophobic clutter is another's treasures :)
ReplyDeleteDuring the first four weeks, I went through every single item I owned and that was the 80 percent gone.
DeleteNow at 90 percent, it's just bits and bobs here and there as I put back together the trailer, room by room.
Like those CDs, they were in my trunk for me to listen to in the car, but then we got the new bluetooth phones, don't need the cds.
The baking dish, I just haven't used it, and I always use the big one a few times per week.
So stuff like that unfolds but for all intents and purposes, the bulk of the items have been removed.
I agree about one person's vs another. Spot on, that.
You have done so brilliantly with all of your de-cluttering ...
ReplyDeleteI think they are heirloom tomatoes!
Have a fantastic Friday night and a good weekend too.
All the best Jan
Some kind of pepper?
ReplyDeleteDear Ms. Whisk, you got a mention in my latest post and I am completely in agreement regarding both your own and Martha's remarks about de-cluttering. I just wish I could find some reliable help.
ReplyDeleteAre those some kind of gourd? I'm making a trip to the Goodwill Store later this week. I need to gather a few more things. Soon all I'll have left is clothing, furniture and books. Lots of books.
ReplyDeletePersimmons? And I love your new Autumn header, Ivy! :)
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what these things are.
ReplyDeleteYou know they say less is more. People don't need most of the junk that they have. Good for you for down sizing.
Hey Guys: Most of you I talked to on email but for the rest, the answer is ... eggplants/aubergine.
ReplyDeleteGot them at the Farmer's Market, sliced one open and by gosh, eggplant. Yum.
Thanks for playing and boogie boogie.
My blog is being visited by trolls. I need your email address to add you as a reader. Please email me. Thx!
ReplyDeleteWill do.
DeleteHi Ivy, seeing if my comment works this time :) Niki xx
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! You've been MISSED.
