Cavemen Club

I'm doing a post to say howdy, as Tim waits for his meat-filled sub. He's part of the Cavemen Club, here at Wegmans.  Me, not so much. But I did recently make lamb at home twice and LOVED it.

Anyway, health took a leap forward and then quickly mocked me with a few stumbles back. That's the way of things, I suppose. Then I had a few house projects that needed my full attention.  Anyway, I'm back. Hope you're all well. Have a great rest of your night and I'll catch ya'll again soon.

PS: Here's a shot of my supper, as I wait for Frankenberry.  Eating out isn't an option for me, so I picked through the bulk bins. The dried, organic mango is heaven.

Heaven, I say, heaven.

    1. Howdy to you, Jan. Thanks for the nice words. I was offline most of the week, working on some house projects. The starts and stops of healing is all part of the fun.

Yes, that dried organic mango made me miss my old food dehydrator.

      Baking anything fun these days?

  2. So glad you are still with us, relatively speaking Ivy. Sorry you have had some bad health turns though. Never heard of dried mango. Lamb twice eh? I am delighted you are enjoying it.

    1. Yes, yes. I spent most of the week unplugged getting some house stuff done and dealing with health stuff. All part of the fun.

Yes, twice lamb. I bought two cuts, both on the cheaper side. Made a stew with the first piece and the second were shanks. I braised them, took 3.5 hours and then reduced the braising liquid and served over chunky gold mash potatoes.

It was so tender and delicious that today, I bought two more shanks.

How's the mince pies? Did they start making them yet?

    2. Sounds good. I love lamb. Won't go back for the pies, got the ingredients to make my own instead.

    3. I was just catching up on your blog and saw that. Good deal. Tonight I copied a recipe for mince, from BBCGoodFood Magazine. Love that publication.

  3. Sorry you had a set back. Glad you're feeling better now.

I see the mango, and the pistachios, and the cashews, but what are those sausage-looking things?

    1. Those are spelt sesame sticks. I love those things. Gotta learn how to make them myself. Then below those are pecans. But just a few, they were expensive.

    1. Sadly, I won't (due to health issues), be able to eat the chops rare. So I passed on the chops and went with other cuts.

      Delish.

  7. Looks like a very healthy meal! Like Martha, I love fresh mangos, but have never tried them dried. I'd have to admit though, I'd be tempted to get a sub myself! Prayers and good wishes for good health for you!

    1. Thanks bunches, Bethany. I never had dried mango before yesterday, but When I saw there was no added sugars, I had to go for it.
