White, gold, orange, blue, purple, yellow or red, potatoes are one of my favorite foods. They're low in cost (at my markets), nutrient-rich, and versatile.
If I had to give up potatoes, I'd be one unhappy and cranky whisk.
Is there an ingredient or food group that you'd be sad to give up? Or, have already given something up that you miss?
Do tell. Do tell.
BACONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, great answer and your face looks like your actually saying BACONNNNNNNNNN!
DeleteWell, I'm of the Iron Gut Clan and nothing, so far, has rocked the gut boat.
ReplyDeleteOf course I'm not a fan of green peppers they are forever coming back for an encore… repeat, repeat and repeat!
Did I mention they repeat on me!
Oh, and speaking of the versatile spud - I'm a fan of all spud, in all colours… with butter please. Yes, I do butter!
DeleteButter on a spud, is good eats. I'm thinking of making myself an orange potato with honey for my late lunch.
DeleteI'm not sure there really is a particular food item or ingredient that I'd miss more than others. I tend to go through a lot of things in cycles, like I'll get on a "kick" for one thing, and then a few months later that fades away and I get on a kick for the next thing. So I'm really not sure.
ReplyDeleteI get that whole kick thing. I get that way too, and then with sales and new ingredients, I'll make something over and over until I get the formula right. So we eat in cycles sometimes.
DeleteThanks for playing.
Hmmm....tough one, although I totally agree with you on the potatoes. Indeed very versatile. Pasta is definitely something I'd miss. Also very versatile, and a quick fix on days when you're short on time. And so many ways to prepare it, too.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to pick a vegetable, I'd say onions. Almost everything we make has onions in it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Alex, I would definitely miss onions. I don't eat potatoes very often, not a big fan although I enjoy fries but they are super loaded with calories.
ReplyDeleteI love any kind of carb unfortunately
ReplyDeleteIce Cream! Would love a hot fudge sundae!
ReplyDeleteI have problems with dairy, and unfortunately love everything with milk in it. Sometimes I just take the hit.
ReplyDeletePeanut Butter. I am nearly, OK, screw nearly, totally obsessed with Peanut Butter.
ReplyDeleteMy ex-wife used to call my Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches, 'PB&PB&J' or 'PB&J&PB' sandwiches. The jelly was just there for color.
Three years bacon free due to HBP and CHF. Hating it. Used to fry up a pound of Smithfueld bacon for breakfast once a week. But I'm still alive. Feeling Ray's pain.
ReplyDeleteI'd be devastated to give up carbs or chocolate. And all those potatoes sound glorious!!
ReplyDeleteI love bread and pasta but have really limited them lately. What I would hate to give up, cheese.
ReplyDeleteI love potatoes too! I especially love the ones my brother grows. They are so good! He didn't grow them this year, but hopefully he gets back into it again.
ReplyDeleteI would really hate to give up cheese. I love all kinds.
I would hate to give up cheese. Or chocolate. I think I'll stop there since I'm sure there are a million things I'd hate to give up...
ReplyDeleteChocolate!
ReplyDeleteI have a problem with Dairy. I am careful eating it.
ReplyDeleteYears ago (stone age) one if the treatment for migraines was giving up things with iodine like lobster, crab, shrimp...
Any aged cheeses, that was hard.
Lately I gave up the nightshade family and I really missed that. I have started to add some back into my diet.
Love bread really don't miss pasta.
I cook with my three most favorites, lemon, garlic and olive oil so I would have a problem with that.
cheers, parsnip
That must be Nasi Goreng for me. My stomach doesn't like rice any more. When I eat it, after a few hours I get sick.
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Peter
I would miss garlic.
ReplyDeleteI would not want to live in a world without cheese.
ReplyDeleteI love bread and fruits so much!!!
ReplyDeleteBut especially bread made at home!
Love potatoes too :))))
as for a dish, pizza
ReplyDeleteI love taters, too. There's so many things you can do with them. Potato wedges with cheese and sour cream and chives and bacon are especially yummy.
ReplyDeleteI refuse to give up potatoes or cheese. When my doctor told me to cut way back on cheese, I said, "Just shoot me now and end my suffering!"
ReplyDeleteI am with you there Ivy....
ReplyDeleteI am definitely Mrs Potato Head....
Love them every which way....and twice on Sundays! Ha!
Never gonna give them up.....
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Yes, I love potatoes too but I always say that if I had to give up American style creamy Peanut Butter I'd be so lost without it. I only had it twice growing up as we did not have that in England but now here, I eat it practically every day...on a warmed up tortilla, toasted bagel, bread, toast, you name it.
ReplyDeleteI'd hate to give up the gold, Knowing your favorite color
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say the orange...
I didn't know there we that many kinds of potatoes.
My bad
