Maybe finally clean Ethel. Poor girl needs a proper scrub.
But first I'm headed out the door to meet the Corn Man. He's at the corner (we live in a rural area), and has the best corn.
Last weekend when we hit his stand he was sold out. He invited us to his farm and oh my gosh, what fun to pick fresh corn and get eggs from his chickens. Country living rocks.
Speaking of country living, dig my outdoor office. The lab (our kitchen), is attached to the back deck.
Okay, Bubblebutts and Boogerheads, the Corn Man has string beans waiting for me, and I'm exciting to cook those babies up Hungarian-style. I also love to eat the beans raw or juice them. So flippin' good.
After that I'll hit Tim Horton's and possibly run into Aldi to see what's on clearance. The other day I scored organic baby kale and organic grass feed beef for killer prices.
Must dash. Smell ya'later gators.

Hope he has corn for you this time. I've never picked fresh corn before.ReplyDelete
Today I'm going for the string beans. Though I might snag a few ears. We bought 60 last weekend and 60 the weekend before. All are put up for the winter.Delete
If you never have, it's a blast. Really exciting stuff for me to be at a farm like his.
You've got a Timmy Ho's in your neck of the woods? Enjoy your double double!ReplyDelete
Four of them. We don't live far from Canada. One on the top of the mountain, one in town. Another about 15-20 minutes away and another about 30 minutes away.Delete
So far though, the one in town has the best bagels. The one here on the hill, I often get sick from. So I don't eat there anymore.
PS: We call it Timmy's.Delete
The Corn Man is a cool name, but in a way it's kind of spooky. Like it's some kind of villain hiding out in a corn maze, waiting to kidnap little children. ;) (Do I have a overactive imagination, or what?)ReplyDelete
That's really what we call him. He's so friendly and fun though. Not at all scary. Though I tell ya, being in the corn field did feel a little like a Halloween movie, and I LOVED IT!Delete
I just heard Burger King is buying out Tim Horton's. I don't know if that's good for BK or really bad for Tim Horton's....ReplyDelete
I'm not happy about it.Delete
Rural life is for us too. Fresh (free range) eggs, local fruit and vegetables, friendly people, bird song (as apposed to traffic) ... need I go on. Can't get much better than that :)ReplyDelete
How goes you? Long time no talk.
you have an ALDI's? wholly molly it is a small damn world. we have one in bronx, ny. i just got hip to shopping there about a year ago. but, lets make sure we are talking about the same aldi's. my aldi's is a small supermarket where you get food almost dirt cheap. they are way more affordable then say stop & shop, shoprite, foodtown, pathmark, food bazaar, a&p. is that the aldi you're going to? cheers!!ReplyDelete
Yeppers. That's the one. Though sadly, not all Aldi stores are nice. Some are real shit, others are super clean and well-stocked. Thankfully, the closest one to our house, is heavenly.Delete
I don't know what baby kale is, but it sounds delightful...ReplyDelete
I find baby kale is more tender and tastier than mature kale. I used it in my corn chowder from earlier in the week.Delete
Heaven, in a bowl.
Fresh corn! OHMYGOSH... One of my absolute favourite foods. Reminds me of my dad who loved it, too. He'd cook up a whole bunch and we'd munch on them while watching TV. Good stuff. Sounds like a great day! And your view is wonderful and relaxing.ReplyDelete
What a great way to enjoy corn. It's really good stuff. Yum yum. Did you get any this year?Delete
Miss Wiggy looks like she's got a good place to rest.ReplyDelete
I don't go into Timmys (I know, it's UnCanadian), and Burger King is doing nothing but cheating on their taxes with this little move.
I can't eat much there because in our area it's all overly processed and too much gets me sick, but the jalapeno bagels downtown I do okay with.Delete
Don't care for this whole Burger King thing.
