I Want to go Back to School

I want to go back to school.  Right this minute, that can't happen.  So I set out to learn from where I am.  And it's interesting to me, how I got what I needed.

I was at work doing cook's peppers, which is (or was), a messy and time consuming process.  On the ride home, I knew there had to be a better way.  Just had to find it.

That same night, Tim popped on Gordon Ramsay's Ultimate Cookery Course.  Guess what the first video included?  I kid you not, peppers.   How great is that?

The next morning at work, I tried Ramsay's method and it was sublime.  Absolute heaven.  A joy to prep.

I love how my knife glides around and under the pepper, leaving behind the seeds and fiberous innards.

And soon, Ramsay's book (UK version), will be in my hot little hands.  The book titled, Gordon Ramsay's Ultimate Cookery Course, works in conjunction with the videos.  And whilst I may not be in a classroom (just yet), I will be learning, practicing, and writing about it along the way.

I feel happy.

Look at these babies.  NO waste.  NO mess.

    1. He knows his stuff, that's for sure. I like that the book ties into the videos.

  3. That is pretty amazing. I had to slice peppers for yesterday's supper and mine didn't look anything like that! :)

    1. Did you get to see the video? The peppers are within the first five minutes, I believe.

  4. Sounds like you don't need school, Ivy, just a mountain of Gordon Ramsay videos, some books and a lot of free time ;)

    1. You Tube is how I learned to chop chickens. Great way to learn. Totally agree.

  6. I learnt how to do that from a lesser TV chef Malcolm Haradine (no you probably do not know him) but he has worked for me doing demo's in my shops. Top guy by the way. It's a fun method.

I have actually worked with Gordon Ramsey (the real one) and when away from the paying public I never heard him swear. I now work with a different Gordon Ramsey, not sure how good his cooking is but he is a great help in the office LOL

    1. He doesn't swear in this video either but when he does the American shows, the really highlight it. I much prefer the UK Kitchen Nightmares, back in the day.

Neat that you got to work with him. Did you enjoy it? What did you do?

    2. I did enjoy it but it was really tough. 10 days away from home working from 5am till around 11pm and no time to phone home and my oldest was three and youngest just one so it was even harder on my wife.

It was all to do with the good food show at Birmingham NEC, Jamie Oliver gave me a signed book after ragging me about being there later than him LOL. I had a stand selling cookware but got to chat with quite a few of the celebrity chefs so it was a lot of fun but I was really happy when it ended

    3. That is very cool. Have you ever gone to BBC's Good Food Show? I would LOVE to go there.

Jamie Oliver seems like a nice guy, from what I've seen of him on videos.

Very cool that you got to meet him and the others.

  8. Nice technique, Whisk! I enjoy Gordon Ramsey's work, especially his attitude that the worst sin is not a lack of skill, but having a lack of passion for one's craft.

    1. Just pay for the book and the ingredients, but that's okay with me. Though I would like formal training.

  15. That's so cool you found an easier way to slice peppers! My easier way of cooking means someone else does it - but I'll do the dishes :)

  23. Does Ramsay's course involve screaming every foul word in the English language at anyone five feet away?
